Mi primera presentación como bailarina de Raks Sharki (ESP/ENG)

Para esta semana quiero compartir con ustedes una etapa que disfruté mucho en mi vida hace unos años atrás, cuando estaba en la academia de danza oriental Minet, en esa época estaba en boga este tipo de danza, no solo porque la popular Shakira la había promocionado bastante, sino porque también lo había hecho una serie brasileña llamada "El clon" cuando salió por primera vez y luego en sus posteriores retransmisiones. Yo me sentí muy atraída por la danza así que decidí investigar a fondo y posteriormente formar parte de una academia en donde no solo aprendí de la danza sino acerca de sus beneficios y también de muchos aspectos de la cultura oriental, por ejemplo, que el nombre correcto de esta disciplina no es ni "Danza del vientre" ni "Danza de los siete velos" ni mucho menos "Danza Árabe" ya que originalmente proviene de los harenes otomanos, es decir, de Turquía, el nombre correcto es "Raks Sharki" que podría traducirse como "Danza Oriental" y por ende esto incluye muchos tipos de elementos como chinchines o crótalos, bastones, velos, sanyas candelabros, sables e incluso serpientes.

For this week I want to share with you a stage that I enjoyed a lot in my life a few years ago, when I was in the oriental dance academy Minet, at that time this type of dance was in vogue, not only because the popular Shakira had promoted it a lot, but also because a Brazilian series called "The clone" had done so when it came out for the first time and then in its subsequent broadcasts. I was very attracted to dance so I decided to investigate it in depth and later joined an academy where I learned not only about dance but also about its benefits and also about many aspects of oriental culture, for example, the correct name of this discipline is neither "Belly Dance" nor "Dance of the seven veils" and even less "Arabian Dance" as it originally comes from the Ottoman harems, i.e. from Turkey, the correct name is "Raks Sharki" which could be translated as "Oriental Dance" and therefore it includes many types of elements such as chinchins or crotales, canes, veils, sanyas, candelabras, sabres and even snakes.

The pictures are not very good, either the camera did not focus well or my cousins (who took the pictures) did not point correctly, but anyway, they serve me to remember that day, the wonderful day of my first performance, these pictures were taken after the show and I was happy because everything had gone well, I remember that previously I was nervous because it was my turn to direct my number, I was the main dancer and although I rehearsed much more than necessary, I even did it in the dressing room, I was afraid of making a mistake but fortunately it was not like that.

Fortunately, there were no eventualities, everything went wonderfully, but it is a pity that in the excitement of the moment my family did not even take a photograph of the show, nor of the moment when all the students gave her an award in recognition of our teacher, whom we really appreciate so much for her patience, perseverance and simplicity.

To this lovely woman, Norka, my teacher, I owe everything I learned about this beautiful art, I am grateful for her patience, her constancy, her dedication to dance, her humility and all the love she put into each of her classes, unfortunately I never saw her again after she had to close the academy because of her divorce, I miss her not only as a teacher, for her great knowledge, but also as a friend, because she really was or is, better said, a good person.

That was definitely one of the best days of my life, not only because I had the opportunity to express what I had learned, but also because I was surrounded by friends and family who accompanied me on that special day, and to top it all off, when we left the theatre that night, we found a local band performing outside and coincidentally the lead singer is a close friend of my best friend, the girl with curly hair and black blouse who is to my right in the picture, she was also studying at the academy, but being so shy she didn't want to go on stage.

Every day I am more grateful for the experiences I have had the opportunity to live, for what I have learned and for the support of the people I love. Thanks also to you for allowing me to share with you these precious and priceless memories.
