Jack (Review) ESP/ENG
It's been many, many years since I've seen this film, I came across it again yesterday and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to relive emotions, so I watched it again, there is no doubt that Robin William was a great actor and it was demonstrated in this film full of lessons for life, but anyway, without further ado let's review Jack.
Hace muchísimos años que yo no veía esta película, me topé de nuevo con ella ayer y no quise desaprovechar la oportunidad de revivir emociones, así que la vi de nuevo, no cabe duda de que Robin William era un gran actor y quedó demostrado en este film cargado de lecciones para la vida, pero en fin, sin más preámbulo reseñemos "Jack".
Overview/Resumen
The film tells the story of a peculiar child, born at two months gestation but with the weight and size of a normal full-term baby. After some tests, the doctor informs Jack's parents that he suffers from a rare disorder that makes him age 4 times faster than normal, which will eventually make him look like an adult even though he is only a child, in fact, after a time jump we see Jack at 10 years old although he looks 40, and it is precisely his appearance that makes his parents keep him isolated, because they fear that the other children will bother him, and in fact some did (even without knowing him) by shouting things at him through the window, until finally his private teacher convinces the parents to allow Jack to join the regular school, where he would indeed have to face his reality, the cruelty of other children and the incomprehension, but at the same time he would have the opportunity to make himself known and to make others understand his situation, as well as to meet new people and make friends.
La película nos cuenta la vida de un niño peculiar, que nace a los dos meses de gestación pero con un peso y medida de un niño normal de gestación completa. Luego de algunos análisis, el doctor le informa a los padres de Jack que él sufre de un raro trastorno que lo hace envejecer 4 veces más rápido de los normal, lo cual eventualmente lo hará parecer un adulto por más que sea solo un niño, de hecho, tras un salto temporal vemos a Jack de 10 años aunque luce de 40, y es precisamente su apariencia la que hace que sus padres lo mantengan aislado, porque temen que los otros niños lo molesten, y de hecho algunos lo hacían (aún sin conocerlo) gritándole cosas a través de la ventana, hasta que finalmente su maestro particular convence a los padres para que le permitan a Jack incorporarse a la escuela regular, donde en efecto tendría que enfrentarse a su realidad, a la crueldad de otros niños y a la incomprensión, pero al mismo tiempo tendría la oportunidad de darse a conocer y hacer que otros entendieran su situación, además de conocer gente nueva y hacer amigos.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
There are many things worth mentioning in this film but I think the first thing I should mention is the story, let's see, it can be a bit absurd due to the exaggeration of how the disorder manifests itself in real life (Progeria), but as García Márquez (Colombian writer famous for including magical realism in his novels) said one day, hyperbole is an effective and even necessary resource in literature, so I suppose that in cinema it should be used with more reason to generate impact, moreover, the point is precisely to highlight the obvious differences of the main character, although he looks like an adult, although he has to shave, he is a child, with the emotions of a child, who feels like a child, yet he has the ability to see beyond his environment and his present, he understands his situation and knows he will not live long, so he intends to live to the fullest what is left of his life, he is daring, he is not afraid of what he will find beyond the safety of his home, Jack has an indomitable spirit that wants to learn new things and live experiences of his age.
Hay muchas cosas dignas de reseñar en esta película pero creo que lo primero que debo mencionar es la historia, a ver, puede resultar un poco absurda debido a la exageración de como se manifiesta el trastorno en la vida real (La progeria), pero bien lo dijo un día García Márquez (escritor colombiano famoso por incluir el realismo mágico en sus novelas) la hipérbole es un recurso efectivo e incluso necesario en la literatura, así que supongo que en el cine se debe usar con más razón para generar impacto, además, el punto es precisamente resaltar las diferencias obvias del personaje principal, aunque se vea como un adulto, aunque tenga que afeitarse, es un niño, con las emociones de un niño, que siente como un niño, aún así tiene la capacidad de ver más allá de su entorno y su presente, comprende su situación y sabe que no vivirá mucho, por eso pretende vivir a plenitud lo que le reste de vida, es osado, no tiene miedo de lo que encontrará más allá de la seguridad de su hogar, Jack tiene un espíritu indomable que desea aprender cosas nuevas y vivir experiencias propias de su edad.
The narration is super dynamic, not slow at all, from the very beginning it captures and holds the viewer's attention, and makes the viewer mentally question how the subject he/she is watching should be approached, certainly the problem Jack presents is very strange, so there is no way to make the world adapt to him, but the opposite, he must adapt to the world, but we are shown a very satisfying evolution of the characters, Jack learns to manage his emotions, the children learn to know and understand what is different, and eventually Jack teaches them to value every second of their lives.
La narración es super dinámica, para nada lenta, desde que incia captura y mantienen la atención del espectador, y hace que este se cuestione mentalmente acerca de como debería ser abordado el tema que esta viendo, ciertamente el problema que presenta Jack es muy raro, así que no existe forma de hacer que el mundo se adapte a él, sino lo contrario, él debe adaptarse al mundo, pero nos muestran una evolución muy satisfactoria de los personajes, Jack aprende a manejar sus emociones, los niños aprenden a conocer y entender lo que es diferente, y eventualmente Jack les enseña a valorar cada segundo de sus vidas.
As for the performances I think they were great, all the actors did a great job, who play Jack's parents and Bill Cosby (his private teacher) and Jenifer Lopez (the school teacher) act in a very natural way, when they talk to Jack (Robin Williams), they do it as if they were talking to a child (they don't act exaggerated), On the other hand I can't talk about acting without mentioning Robin Williams himself who gave us a very tender and believable performance, he didn't play his character through parodies, but you can see that he resorted to his inner child or at least he observed closely the real children to carry out his interpretation.
En cuanto a las actuaciones pienso que fueron estupendas, tanto los actores que interpretan a los padres de Jack como Bill Cosby (su maestro particular) y Jenifer López (la maestra de la escuela) actúan de forma muy natural, cuando se dirigen a Jack (Robin Wlliams), lo hacen como si le estuviesen hablando a un niño (no actúan de forma exagerada) por otra parte no puedo hablar de actuación sin mencionar al propio Robin Williams quien nos ofreció una actuación muy tierna y creíble, él no interpretó su personaje mediante parodias, sino que se nota que recurrió a su niño interior o al menos observó de cerca a los niños reales para llevar a cabo su interpretación.
This movie can be seen with the family because it highlights several values, such as respect, you should never insult or make anyone feel bad, we all have feelings and deserve to be treated with courtesy, we also have the value of friendship and loyalty, but Above all, it teaches us that we should not lose our inner child, we should try to preserve the innocence, naivety and joy of children, that is what will keep us young and fulfilled.
Esta película puede ser vista en familia porque resalta varios valores, como por ejemplo el respeto, nunca debes insultar a hacer sentir mal a nadie, todos tenemos sentimientos y merecemos ser tratados con cortesía, también tenemos el valor de la amistad y la lealtad, pero sobre todo nos enseña a que no debemos perder a nuestro niño interior, debemos procurar conservar la inocencia, la candidez y la alegría de los niños, eso es lo que nos mantendrá jóvenes y plenos.
