What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

🏍️ Nearly every weekend for more than 15 years, Chicago had experienced multiple street shootings and occasionally mass shootings as a result of not focusing on the crimes. Mostly, these shootings are repoted by local Chicago news and left ignored by the rest of the state or nation. In this case (in October 2028), it caught the attention of national media because the victim was related to a known criminal innocent of the crime while the killer was a criminal illegal alien and Chicagoans "have had it up to here" with their soft-on-crime elected officials. While it is possible that the crime situation may be improved between now and October 2028, I don't see that happening.

🏍️ Felix Legion is about to complete its ride along the path believed to be that of the legendary and iconic Route 66 of another era. The eastern terminus of Route 66 in Chicago is a matter of city blocks away.

🏍️ Just as The Mafia of Italian and Sicilian fame lived by a code where they left alone people uninvolved in their activities, rival gang leaders Emilio Ibáñez and Luther "Big Lu" Jackson operate the gangs the same way. The criminal illegal aliens from various parts of Latin America operate by a different set of rules, and they don't match those of Ibáñez and Jackson.

🏍️ This is the moment which Felix Legion knew would arrive. In GHAWG time, Felix Legion had been riding on Route 66 for about 3 weeks. At that moment, Felix Legion had no idea of the civil unrest which had been brewing in Chicago. Act 7 has concluded, so GHAWG goes immediately into Interlude 4.

"I'm not going to let any gang take advantage of us," Emilio Ibáñez told Aníbal Rivera. "At the same time, we can't let those illegals ruin it for everyone. Then we get blamed for things we didn't do. We can't have that."

🏍️ Until Emilia Ibáñez was killed by one of the New Marielitos, it was just business as usual for her father, Emilio Ibáñez. It was also business as usual for rival gang leader Luther Jackson, and much of that business included getting the better of Ibáñez. During the years 2024 through 2028, both men realized that something was happening which was a threat to both of their lines of work. Illegal immigrants had arrived in Chicago by the bus load or plane load, but it was the criminal element among them which changed the situation in Chicago. Things came to a head when one of those criminal elements, referred to locally as the New Marielitos after the originals made famous by the version of Scarface which starred Al Pacino as Marielito Tony Montana.

Once we located signage marking the start (or, for us) point of Route 66, we made sure to memorialize the moment with photographs. A moment after we declared this part of the ride over, we noticed something odd in the streets.

🏍️ This is the final zapfic entry for Act 7. Felix Legion had reached "the end," and everyone wanted to mark this moment. Depending on what ele was nearby, this could have taken a while. Before they could talk about "what's next," they find themselves in the middle of an event bigger than themselves.

🏍️ This is the first official zapfic entry for Interlude 4. Although Emilio Ibáñez and Luther Jackson are considered criminals due to their gang-related activities, they represent an older order where people went with the devils they knew. The arrival of the New Marielitos upended that order and introduced elements of chaos into the lives of everyday Chicagoans.

🏍️ One advantage of having a separate storyline involving independent journalist Aníbal Rivera is the ability for these zapfic entries to bounce around in time. We can accept them as having taken place in chronological order, or we can accept that they are out of sequence. In this case, it doesn't matter because he would have done the work, anyway. Another advantage is the ability to provide a backstory for the zapfic entries involving him directly, since it allows us to learn about many of the newly-introduced characters into The GHAWG Universe.

🏍️ Chicago mobster Al Capone was the original Scarface. Tony Montana (as portrayed by Al Pacino the the 1983 movie) was a Marielito from Cuba. The only similarity between the real-life gangster and the cinematic gangster from Cuba was the nickname Scarface. Aníbal Rivera completes his description of the New Marielitos with this zapfic entry.

🏍️ Lindsay Etxeberria asks this question of Lieutenant Terry Leo as a reminder to us of her past as a far-left activist who had wrought her own share of mayhem in the years before David Guardia and Rhonda Bella discovered her near death by the side of an Iowa road as they were riding to STURGIS.
🏍️ Although the next election for mayor of Chicago was years into the future, the situation in the city demanded that opponents of the current mayor make themselves known as soon as possible in order to earn badly-needed name recognition. As we will see in later zapfic entries, Terry Leo isn't just any candidate for mayor; he is the most unlikely of candidates in a city dominated by one political machine since the 1930s.

🏍️ These are some Chicago neighborhoods known locall for their crime troubles. Others exist, but I could only include what the 240-character LeoThreads limit would allow. Felix Legion would have been riding near West Garfield Park and East Garfield Park. By the time Felix Legion reaches Jackson Park, it would be near South Shore.

Felix Legion completes its 220-mile ride from Springfield to Chicago, thus reaching the eastern terminus of the iconic Route 66. While Felix Legion winds its way through Chicago, independent journalist Aníbal Rivera investigates the origins of a mass demonstration trigered by the random shooting of a gang leader's young daughter.
