A Weekend in Holguín: Exploring the Expo Iberoarte 2024
Hello, hello dear Weekend Experiences community
This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to enjoy a different and well-spent weekend. My destination was Holguín, where the 22nd edition of the Expo Iberoarte was being held, dedicated to my beloved province, Santiago de Cuba.
The day started early, at 5 a.m., as I set out with my aunt towards the terminal. As usual, transportation was a challenge: expensive and scarce, but we finally managed to leave at 7. During the three-hour journey, I was able to unwind while enjoying the scenery, capturing a few images along the highway.
Upon arriving in the city, we headed straight to the fairgrounds, where the line to get in was quite long.
Once inside, I was swept away by the magic of the event. We visited several craft stands, and, of course, I took the opportunity to buy some souvenirs for both my aunt and myself.
These are just a few of the many things inside, though this is only a small part of the venue, as it was immense. There were so many things, and so many cultures coexisted at the same time that it seemed impossible to believe the harmony that existed among them all.
After touring the fair, we took a stroll around the city of Holguín, which always has something new to offer and welcomes us back each time to its beautiful land.
The afternoon passed quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to head back to the terminal. That’s when the real adventure began: the return trip turned into an odyssey, with several setbacks along the way. We finally arrived home around 8 p.m., tired but satisfied after a weekend full of experiences.
These kinds of getaways remind me how important it is to take the time to disconnect, explore, and enjoy the little things that make life a unique and unforgettable experience.
The fair is fun, a pleasant experience, enjoy your holiday
