Hi my loving Hivers,

What's up guys? Greetings from Sri Lanka. Yesterday, which was Sunday, we had an opportunity to go to my wife's elder brother's house. Because it was a holiday. Although his house was still under construction, he had grown some vegetable plants in the small garden to get some relief for the economy. People who complain that they don't have enough space to intercrop, take elder brother's cultivation as an example, can start now. Empty rice bags, polythene covers and small plastic bags have been used for those crops.

In one of the beds, small green chili plants were seen blooming. Green chili pods will be seen for a limited time. My wife's brother told me that those vegetables were grown only for the needs of the house. Although the nutritional value is small, chilies are indispensable for our food. The appetizing as well as flavor of many nutritious foods is enhanced by the application of chilies. Chili can be grown easily in most climatic zones of the world. For that, it is important to have a warm climate with good sunlight. It tolerates dry conditions well, especially for hay crops. Chili can grow successfully in loam soil as well as in sandy soil by adding organic fertilizers. Chili can be grown successfully in urban homes and gardens as well as in pots or containers.

On the other side, a bed of chilli plants had been caught by insects. The growth of the plant is stunted because the ants that damage the crop eat the leaves. Spraying soapy water on the tree can restart growth. Constant vigilance is most important in cultivation.

A small pea plant was seen on the side of their garden. By planting a pea seed, it grew to a certain extent. It is advisable to use vines as vines tend to climb up with growth. Nutritious peas are best for breakfast.

Most suitable for salads and sambols, Gotukola spreads like a vine in any garden. Along with the rains, their growth also happens rapidly. If the gotukola is boiled and eaten, it should be boiled less because the nutrients may be destroyed.

Long beans is a vegetable full of flavor and goodness that we all love just like beans. A pleasing feature is the emergence of pods on the small vines. In fact, it is something that can be easily grown in any garden. A good harvest can be obtained by planting these seeds. A crop that bears fruit quickly and can be grown easily from the garden for home consumption. Considering the nutritional value of these pods, it is a vegetable rich in vitamins and minerals. The seeds contain a lot of protein.

Plants of a very hot type of chili called Nai chili continued to bear fruit. This type of chilli turns red when ripe. As these are sold at high prices in the Sri Lankan market, it is more profitable to grow them in the garden. Capsicum chinese belongs to this chilli family. Nai chili is the most spicy chili in the world. So there are more varieties due to the characteristic smell, shape, color etc. of Nai chillies. Nai chili is a low-maintenance crop, but basic work needs to be done properly.

A gourd vine was growing in the brother's garden. Bitter gourd is a vegetable that I personally love, even though it is a bit bitter. In fact, it is something that can be grown in any garden. But despite the vines growing in our garden, the fruits did not form due to the invasion of insects. Gourd is a vegetable that can withstand any climate in Sri Lanka, especially for diabetes. Also, crops can be obtained here throughout the year.

Some discarded asbestos sheets were made into a bed and seeds were planted there. On asking the brother, chili seeds were put in it and Albizia was covered with green leaves. In addition, dry stalks were also covered for seed growth.

I could also see drumstick, spinach and curry leaves plants which are essential for meals. Seeing these reminded me how much we can make vegetables at home and reduce wastage of money. Also, we can prepare nutritious meals without chemical fertilizers through this vegetable cultivation.

Since tomato plants do not grow large, it is useful to grow them in small pots or empty rice bags. If the space in the garden is not sufficient or if maintenance is difficult, it can be done in beds. Irrigation at regular intervals is very important in padun cultivation. Tomato is a nursery crop. The nursery can be made in ground beds or in discarded beds.

Okra is a vegetable that can be prepared in a variety of recipes. Shows better growth in dry zone than in wet zone. It is stated that the seeds should be soaked in water for a period of 24 hours before planting to accelerate seed germination.
