How Unawatuna beach, a tourist paradise, was decorated on New Year's Eve

Hi my fellow Architecture+Design community lovers,

IMG_20240101_001907.jpg

How are you friends? I hope you are doing very well in this beautiful Sunday. In fact, this year, more foreign tourists than the previous year started hanging out in Sri Lanka. Among them, a group started living in hotels and tourist resorts around Unawatuna, which was a tourist paradise. Therefore, DJ music parties were widely seen in the resorts built in the beach area. Also, decorations using different color bulbs were also widely seen. Especially on the night of December 31, more night decorations were to be seen than on Christmas day. Each tourist resort has prepared special chair arrangements and created the opportunity for more tourists to watch and enjoy. So this time tourists are sure to have unforgettable fun. So in this content, I present how Unawatuna beach City was planned for the New Year.

On the road in front of Unawatuna Wine Stores, the road was moving forward along the sand belt as there was heavy traffic. First of all, a Christmas tree was decorated in the shape of a Christmas tree at the back of the Datu resort and was glowing brightly. This recently built lodge has no special architectural features. But there was something special about the exterior design.

Wood chips are used for the outer fence of this tourist resort. There were wooden tables and chairs neatly arranged in the garden for foreign tourists to enjoy a glass of liquor. Therefore, there was an opportunity to experience the natural coolness coming out of the room. This time, apart from the resorts, urban designing was also at a prominent level. In addition, sunbeds and tents were built on the beach side for the convenience of people outside the resort.

Unawatuna Beach was a natural beach at that time but it was eroded, so an artificial beach was created. Therefore, mangrove trees have been planted. They do not grow naturally after being planted by humans because of an artificial sandbar. However, the measures taken to beautify the city should be appreciated. This time the photo ether is not clear because of the light spread from the night lights.

There were many chairs made of cement, plastic and wood arranged towards the beach at the back of the resort. The light of the lights between the green trees made the green color spread across the bright beach.

Some of the resorts along the Unawatuna coastline are built in accordance with the designs and shapes of the houses. Due to the fact that they were built according to the models of building houses, the distinctive architectural features of these cannot be seen. However, they had their own characteristics.

Several open sheds with a roof made of dry coconut leaves were built around this beach. Strong wooden blocks were used at the four corners of these to support the roof. Wooden benches, chairs and tables were set up in some resorts but many people did not stay there as they attended parties.

Walking along the beach, a tourist resort built using modern architectural elements could be seen. Here, a special type of ceramic tile was installed on the floor. The doors and windows are made of strong polished wood to match modern shapes. Polished wood is used for the supports on both sides of the stairs to the upper floors. Polished wood is also used for the ceiling. Only iron has been used for the balcony areas. The table and chair arrangement inside is also well designed. Hanging lights are installed to illuminate the outside.

As we walked further, we could see lodges where there are a lot of tourists. There were many tents set up in those places and open tents with roofs made of dry coconut leaves were also common. I prefer such constructions with naturalistic concepts. The shapes of the hanging bulbs are also attractive. However, special attention should be paid to the construction concepts taken to increase tourist attraction. Architecture also plays a clear role in increasing tourist attraction.

In the dark night, the whole Unawatuna beach town was illuminated with colorful lights decorations. Seeing them made me feel very happy. This decoration is extremely important in urban planning. This is how the New Year was celebrated in the tourist paradise of Unawatuna.

Hi @madushanka, a very colorful and illuminated place, the palm roofs look great, they have a country style ideal for family gatherings.

Greetings!
