Interview with Thebighigg

What initially brought you to Hive, and how has your experience evolved since joining?

I discovered Hive through Splinterlands. I had been running a scholarship program on Axie Infinity and someone mentioned the game to me and I checked it out. After playing for some time I realized that if I started to post on Hive, I could earn extra funds to invest in the game. I soon found groups that I really enjoyed like the Silver Gold Stackers community and joined them early on. I then found more interesting people and subjects and have been active ever since.

You mentioned helping to develop DUO token with @bitcoinman and @bulliontools. What inspired this project, and what was your role in its development?

Through the Silver Gold Stackers I met both @bulliontools and @bitcoinman and we became good friends. We would help each other find new and interesting projects, some worked great, and some went down in flames. As a group we realized that there is a real need to onboard and retain new talent here on the ecosystem. DUO was born out of that need, the goal is to accumulate enough HP to use a quarter of it to help new users as they onboard and continue to give them support to stay. We all invested in the development and as a team have been running the project.

How do you envision DUO token’s role in the Hive ecosystem, and what are your future goals for it?

The token holders really benefit the most with DUO, as they can have a daily curation on their quality posts as well as receive daily Hive dividends. We did set a minimum of 200 staked to receive those benefits. As DUO grows, we want to start focusing more on onboarding. We finally passed 25,000 HP this past week and are working on finding our people to onboard. DUO is going to become a very popular token as people invest in it, all the Hive from sales gets locked into HP permanently so it's curations will get bigger as well as dividends as rewards are received for curation. You’re active in communities like Silver Gold Stackers, LeoFinance, and others. What does being part of these communities mean to you?

As far as communities the one I'm most active in is Silver Gold Stackers where I was friended by most of the community quickly, especially silversaver888 and silverd10 . I have always collected silver and gold items over the years and so it was a great fit for me.

You cover a variety of topics in your blog, from precious metals to music. What drives your choice of topics?

My topics now really fit into days of the week, Tuesday I do Three Tune Tuesday and Friday Nineties Friday, Saturday is Saturday Saver, and Sunday is my weekly 10 HSBI giveaway contest that I host weekly. The other days I just kind of do what I feel like, and I usually take at least one day off a week just for my own sanity's sake!

As someone with extensive experience on Hive, what advice would you give to newcomers looking to grow and engage on the platform

For new comers the best thing to do is find a community that fits your personality, I was very lucky to fall into Silver Gold Stackers. I might not have kept active had I not. It really helps to have support. The Hive Onboarding Committe (HOC) is a community started by @bitcoinman that works with DUO to onboard and support new members. Get in contact with the HOC, either @bitcoinman, @bulliontools or myself and we will do our best to help you get going. I believe OCDB also helps out now comers, but I've never interacted with them so I can't really endorse them, but I've heard many members who have done well working with them.

Who are some Hive creators you follow regularly, and why?

As far as who I follow it is usually people I interact with the most. If I find someone's material interesting, I follow them. I follow quite a few people now who aren't active anymore, so I really should go clean those out one of these days. I don't have hard set rule on who to follow, and I don't follow many whales because many of them don't have time to engage. I find it more fun when someone tried to engage and get to know you.

Do you have any upcoming projects, either on Hive or related to blockchain, that you’re excited about?

New projects I'm involved with, not many. DUO takes up a bit of time and was expensive to get going. I cosponsor Nineties Friday, and sponsor Three Tune Tuesday and Shadow Hunters. Sadly, one person I did collaborate with is leaving us, @freecompliments . I'm always open to new projects but I just haven't gotten involved in anything new the last couple of months. I'm hoping Holozing does well and the Splinterlands figures out how to be profitable on their own.

If you could collaborate with any Hive community or project, who would it be and why?

I think it might be fun to collaborate with my good friend Ed! Also silverstackerUK would be fun, but his projects are keeping him busy already.
