Interview Q/A for Palomap3
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what led you to join Hive?
I came to Hive out of curiosity and a desire to write and publish my ideas somewhere. I was subscribed to a Telegram channel on productivity and the administrator named Hive because he had made an account (inactive long time ago). At first I didn't understand anything and stayed away for several months, but I came back. This time I did a lot of research and reading, I tried out the different communities until I found the places where I feel most comfortable.
How did you first get involved with The Terminal, and what has that experience been like for you?
If memory serves me correctly I landed at The Terminal because @jamerussell asked for help on Ecency's Discord server. They needed someone who could communicate in English and Spanish and I didn't hesitate to offer myself. Over time I was also supporting his @heyhaveyamet project by welcoming newbies and without realising it I ended up being part of the moderators team, hehe.
You’re very active in curating content. What does content curation mean to you, and what do you look for in quality content?
I love curating content. I've always read a lot and about any subject, so I've always had a good grasp of written expression and my instinct tends to be right about strange things. I was also a peer reviewer for a scientific journal and I have knowledge of spell-checking and proofreading in Spanish. However, I am not infallible and this is where my ability to research and find resources to support it comes into play.
For me, content curation means supporting authors who are less visible, either because they have only recently joined the network or because they have not been able to make connections with other users. At the same time it is a way for Hive to increase its value, as I understand that only by offering quality content can we attract new users. Also, even if the vote the user receives doesn't have my name on it, it brings me closer to the position of whale, hahaha.
The search for quality content depends on the project for which I do the curation. Each one follows different criteria, but what they all have in common is what we already know: no plagiarism, indicate reference sources, no use of AI, no spam. Obviously I'm more inclined towards Spanish content because it's my mother tongue.
What are some projects that you're involved in on hive?
The main projects I am currently involved in are:
Ecency: I'm part of @ecency curators team and also the moderators on their Discord server and the Ecency community on Hive.
The Terminal: Already mentioned above.
Photo-essay: Photo content community where I am one of the administrators.
And I curate content for the following projects:
Hispapro: @hispapro is one of the Hive witnesses driven by the Venezuelan community together with @visualblock.
Holos&Lotus: Community of personal development and wellbeing.
Liotes: @liotes is a Hive witness that performs manual healing through its @ourpick project.
The Pollen Nation: Witness formed by @sircork and @enginewitty that supports content with the aim of retaining users on Hive through their @pollination project.
What are some common challenges you see for new Hive users, and how do you encourage them to overcome these?
The most difficult challenge I find is how complicated it is to learn how Hive works, even at a basic level. There is a lot of it, but it is spread across lots of different accounts and publications and often out of date. My recommendation is to head over to The Terminal and consult their extensive library. If you have any remaining questions, ask around and there will always be a user who can help you or direct you to someone who can.
Are there any memorable moments or stories from your time helping others on Hive that you would like to share?
Any moment when you receive a ‘thank you for your help’ is special. I dare not single out any of them, because what may seem obvious or simple to some may seem like a mountain to climb to others. As the saying goes, ‘the hard part is not tightening the screw, but knowing which screw to tighten’. In fact, most of the doubts that I have solved I have had to learn them beforehand in order to be able to teach them. And I love that because I enjoy learning something new every day.
!
Hive is a unique social ecosystem. How do you think Hive stands out compared to other social or blogging platforms?
What I emphasise above all is that no one can censor you. I feel that sometimes people confuse ‘no’ votes with censorship and this is not the case. No one can delete your content once it's published. And the ecosystem surrounding the blogging part is a universe to be explored and exploited. There are many different ways to earn and/or have fun on Hive.
Where would you like to see Hive evolve in the next few years, particularly for the Spanish-speaking communities?
I would like to see Spanish-speaking communities gain more weight in governance and individual users to increase their Hive Power to favour it. Our voice is our stake, no matter how much reputation we achieve in the end what counts objectively is the content of our wallet. It happens in Hive just like in real life.
What’s one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you first started on Hive?
I would have liked to know what resources exist on how Hive works.
Lastly, what message would you like to leave for the Hive community?
I would like to leave the same message with which I greet newcomers:
‘You have come to a wonderful place where you can develop any interest you can think of. The limit is up to you! The learning curve is steep at first, but ask any questions you have, read and watch.’
And remember that in a hive everyone is needed and has a role to play. Together we go further.

Excellent interview, a Hivers that every day delivers a lot of value through his work of curing, accompaniment and moderation. The most important thing is that he does it with dedication, mysticism, commitment, among others. Definitely, we need more hivers like @palomap3.
We remain attentive and adding to the Hive. Thank you.

Muchas gracias, Alberto.
Thank you, she's a very cool person and I'm honored to interview her.
