Juicy IPA’s in the Afternoon Sun

I’ve been loving my IPA’s lately, especially since the weathers beginning to heat up again.

I’m going to throw it out there, and say an ice cold IPA is impossible to beat while basking in the afternoon sun.

The refreshment factor is incomparable, and that extra strength they possess will take you to a world of contentment quicker than Usain Bolt on steroids.

So last night after an evening run, I shot down to the local bottle store to find a Sunday treat. Often I look for a beer I haven’t seen or tried before, and here is what caught my eye..

Rage - Juicy Pale Ale

The word Rage was the first thing that caught my wondering eye. Instantly it had me reminiscing about more youthful times, and some of the raging parties in which were definitely much simpler times. What adolescent doesn’t love a good rager, right?

I found the scrabble style tiles really aesthetically pleasing too, making the beer standout further. I reckon it’d be pretty cool even if they went a step further, and put the number of points on the tiles like in scrabble? Or maybe that’s just me.

The skeleton figure looks like he’s having a bloody good time too, and the vibrancy of the red background possessed the resemblance of a raging inferno which also portrayed the brands image.

The Breakdown

Rage is a product created by Black Flag Brewing in Mooloolaba located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. Seems fitting that the sunshine state, would produce a beer appropriately suited to its beautiful weather.

This beer possesses an ABV of 6% meaning that it’s stronger than your average beer, perfect for relaxation value.

They’ve also opted to go for an all American image here which is interesting. They use El dorado, Azacca, and Citra Hops to establish this beers flavour.

“Leading into a melodic stone fruit chorus, accompanied by a sweet malt rhythm.. Sessionally low bitterness, juicy drinkability.”

Getting Down to Business, Sunday Session

This is where we seperate the champions from the imposters, the contenders from the pretenders. Actions speak louder than words, the moment I’ve been waiting for.

When pouring there was minimal frothing, but plenty of bubbles voyaging to the surface screaming drink me.

A hazy golden colour existed, in which glistened and was amplified greatly in the afternoon sunlight.

The first beer was as thirst quenching as any beer I’ve tried before. As claimed, it lacked an intense bitterness. It was mildly bitter, with aromas of citrus that were refreshing but definitely not overpowering.

The first beer went down at 100 mph, a testament to its smooth and refreshing properties.. or maybe partially to the fact that it was a hot Sunday afternoon.

Better put another one to the sword then..

We have confirmation, it’s a bloody good drop.

Pale Ales have a refreshing property that not many other beers can match in my opinion, and Blackflag Brewing are right on the money with this one.

Still got a couple of these bad boys to enjoy, and get me through the remainder of the afternoon, and the tastebuds refreshed for the working week to come.

Goes good when you crank the bbq up too.
