Dami's plight || part 1

The hall was silent, the audience's attention was fixed on the girl performing on the stage. Dami stared as the girl swayed her body to the music, moving in perfect sync with the instrumentalist.

Immediately after the girl's dance, the audience erupted into loud shouts, the whole hall was vibrating. Dami was sure the girl would take the trophy home. And truly as she had thought, the girl was declared the winner.

As Dami approached her mother's house, she called it her mother's house, because after all, she was more or less a tenant. As she got closer, her hands were sweating, her heart was in turmoil and it felt as though she was having a panic attack. The nearer she got to the house the higher her fear threshold rose. She summoned courage, put on a smile that didn't reach her face and opened the door.

"Hi everyone, am home".

Tola raised her head and smile at her
" welcome, mom is in the kitchen".

"Ok, will talk to her later" she hurried into her room, happy that there will be no trouble tonight.

Tola watched with sad eyes as she ran upstairs. She wondered when the issues between their mom and Dami would be resolved.

"Tola, who was that?"

"Dami"

"Ok"

Around 2 am at midnight, there was a loud banging on the door. Tola was so scared that she ran into Dami's room. She was shocked that Dami slept through the loud noise.
"Dami, Wake up. Someone's at the door"

Immediately Dami heard Tola's words, she stood up from the bed, check the time and was confused.

"Who's at the door?"

"I think they are burglars"

They jumped when they heard a noise, and looked up but it was their mom. She signals them to be silent and follow her. She took them into the closet and hid them.

"No matter what happens, you girls must remain hidden. Don't come out. Do you understand me?" She whispered.

The girls nodded. A few minutes after she left, they heard something like an argument and muffs sounds. All of a sudden as though something possess her, Dami told her sister to stay put and left the closet. She trace her mother's voice and came face to face with the burglar and her mother.

When her mother saw her, she looked at her fearfully. But the man was happy to see a young girl, he imagined all that he would do to her.

"Get back inside" her mother screamed

"If you move an inch, I will blow your head off", the man pointed the gun at her.

Suddenly Dami realise the gravity of the matter, she regretted not listening to her mom, now she was going to pay heavily for her mistake. Before she knew what was happening, she heard the word " run" but her feet won't move, suddenly she was pushed and as she tried to run she had a gunshot.
