A veces mi memoria me hace una mala jugada y me hace pensar cosas que, según yo, ya hice, pero no son del todo ciertas. Resulta que yo pensaba que le había hecho reseña a la cuarta temporada de American Horror Story hace bastante tiempo y me di cuenta la semana pasada que nunca lo hice. Así que para mantener un orden en mi desorden, hoy quiero hablarles un poco de una temporada que a mí me gustó lo suficiente. Todos sabemos que American Horror Story es una serie antológica, pero esta temporada no es del todo así, ya que algunos personajes de Asylum repiten sus papeles. Pero a diferencia de esa segunda temporada que estábamos en un asilo y viajando entre el pasado y del futuro, en esta temporada Freak Show estamos situados en un circo bastante tétrico.

Sometimes my memory plays tricks on me and makes me think things that, according to me, I've already done, but aren't quite true. It turns out that I thought I had reviewed the fourth season of American Horror Story quite some time ago and realized last week that I never did. So to keep some order in my clutter, today I want to tell you a little bit about a season that I liked well enough. We all know that American Horror Story is an anthology series, but this season is not quite that, as some characters from Asylum reprise their roles. But unlike that second season where we were in an asylum and traveling between the past and the future, in this Freak Show season we are set in a rather creepy circus.

Para comenzar a explicarles un poco una de nuestras protagonistas es Elsa Mars quién sería la dueña del circo de fenómenos, cómo serían una mujer barbuda, Jimmy un chico con manos de langostas, un hombre foca, una mujer llamada "Ma Petit" quien es la mujer más pequeña del mundo, una mujer con tres pechos, un hombre demasiado fuerte, unas siamesas y otros más. Creo que los personajes más destacables son el chico de la langosta, interpretado por Evan Peters, las siamesas interpretadas por Sarah Paulson, Y el personaje de Elsa Mars, que sería Jessica Lange.

Inicialmente, nos presentan a dos personas que llegan al circo con la finalidad de matarlos y exponer los lados más fenómenos de estos. Además, también tenemos a quien yo considero una protagonista bastante importante quien sería Elsa que ella quiere ser amada y también quiere brillar por eso reúne a todos los fenómenos, ya que a ella en el pasado como que le cortaron las piernas, pero se la reconstruyeron lo cual no se entiende muy bien del todo, solo al final se explica.

I think the most notable characters are the lobster boy, played by Evan Peters, the Siamese twins played by Sarah Paulson, and the character of Elsa Mars, who would be Jessica Lange.

Initially, we are introduced to two people who come to the circus with the purpose of killing them and exposing their freakier sides. In addition, we also have who I consider a very important protagonist who would be Elsa who wants to be loved and also wants to shine so she brings together all the freaks, because in the past she had her legs cut off, but they were reconstructed which is not well understood, only at the end is explained.

Por otro lado, las siamesas también tienen su trama importante: una es más seria que la otra y obviamente al estar unidas, pues tenían una convivencia bastante rara. Y obviamente tenían el objetivo de algún día ser separados, pero era demasiado riesgoso. Y demás está decir que llega un punto en donde todos intentan matarse, en donde algunos lo logran y en donde todo se sale de control. Y como esto es American Horror Story, pasan cosas bastante raras que al principio no sientes que se conecten con la historia principal, pero llegó un punto en donde sí. Como es el caso de que en la ciudad más cercana al circo se encuentran unos asesinatos y también un payaso llamado Twiskty que acosa/mata a las personas, que da miedo de verlo nada más.

Hay otra trama paralela de una mansión de una mujer con mucho dinero y un hijo mimado con problemas de ira. Y también tenemos que destacar que esta serie siempre incluye algo con Halloween o algo más sobrenatural y esto es sería el espectro de Edward Mordake, quien es invocado cada vez que alguien actúa en Halloween y él es quien se lleva consigo al payaso Twisty. Pero no todo terminó ahí y alguien más tenía que convertirse en el asesino suelto, en este caso sería Dandy, el hijo de Goria Mott de la trama que les conté de la ciudad. Mientras más avanza la historia, el circo se vuelve mucho más turbio, hay menos personajes, hay otros que llegan como para meter su mano. El circo es vendido, luego se vuelve a recuperar, luego vuelve a pasar a otro dueño. Intentan matar a Elsa y todo se vuelve un caos.

On the other hand, the Siamese twins also have their important plot: one is more serious than the other and obviously being together, they had a rather strange coexistence. And obviously they had the goal of one day being separated, but it was too risky. And needless to say, there comes a point where they all try to kill each other, where some succeed and where everything gets out of control. And since this is American Horror Story, some pretty weird things happen that at first you don't feel like they connect to the main story, but there comes a point where they do, like in the town closest to the circus there are some murders and also a clown named Twiskty who harasses/kills people, which is scary to watch just by looking at him.

There is another parallel plot of a mansion of a woman with a lot of money and a spoiled son with anger issues. And we also have to point out that this series always includes something with Halloween or something more supernatural and this is would be the specter of Edward Mordake, who is summoned every time someone performs on Halloween and he is the one who takes Twisty the clown with him. But not everything ended there and someone else had to become the killer on the loose, in this case it would be Dandy, Goria Mott's son from the plot I told you about the city. As the story progresses, the circus becomes much murkier, there are fewer characters, there are others who arrive as if to stick their hand in. The circus is sold, then it is taken back, then it goes back to another owner. They try to kill Elsa and everything becomes chaos.

Pero yo creo que esta temporada tiene un final bastante acertado y es que Elsa cuando se da cuenta de que lo que necesitaba era una familia, a pesar de estar casada con el vicepresidente de una importante cadena, se supone que había logrado lo que había estado buscando un Plug bastante interesante. Ella decide morir en especial de Halloween invocando así a Edward Mordake para que este mate y se la lleve. Mientras nos muestran que Jimmy, ya tiene manos normales, se ha casado con las siamesas que están embarazadas y otro personaje del circo también pudo continuar una vida normal, Elsa se va y aparece en el circo, nuevamente, ahí es donde se da cuenta de que está en el cielo y es feliz.

Creo que este final es bastante lindo para tanta locura de la temporada, ya que es bastante oscura no creo que sea mi favorita, pero no es para nada mala, simplemente es bastante rara y creo que es la esencia. Ya que lo que se repite durante todos los capítulos es como que los "Freaks" tienen algo muy raro y distinto que lo hace interesante. Así que si a ustedes les gusta esta serie de tan largas temporadas, esta puede que sea una favorita, aunque para mí no es del todo. Nos leemos pronto con la reseña de la temporada número 6!

But I think this season has a pretty successful ending and that is that Elsa when she realizes that what she needed was a family, despite being married to the vice president of a major chain, she was supposed to have achieved what she had been looking for a pretty interesting Plug. She decides to die on Halloween special thus invoking Edward Mordake to kill and take her away. While we are shown that Jimmy, already has normal hands, has married the Siamese twins who are pregnant and another circus character was also able to continue a normal life, Elsa leaves and shows up at the circus, again, that's where she realizes she is in heaven and happy.

I think this ending is quite nice for so much craziness of the season, as it's quite dark I don't think it's my favorite, but it's not bad at all, it's just quite weird and I think that's the essence. Since what is repeated during all the chapters is like the “Freaks” have something very weird and different that makes it interesting. So if you guys like this series of such long seasons, this might be a favorite, although for me it's not quite. See you soon with the review of season 6!
