Medusa Simpsons Style

Hi everyone, I'm Lorentm, a digital artist passionate about art in all its forms and expressions. Today I want to share with you my experience participating in the social media section made by Splinterlands, in which I created a fan art of the character "Medusa" in the style of the Simpsons.

Although this initiative is done weekly, it is always a challenge for me to find the inspiration and creativity needed to create a unique and original piece. However, this time I decided to take as a base a character that has always fascinated me: Medusa.

For this design, I wanted to create a sticker with 3D effects so that the piece would really jump off the screen and become an interactive work. Also, I chose the Simpsons style because I've always loved the unique and vibrant aesthetic of the series.

Creating this fan art was a very interesting process for me, as not only did I have to think about how to represent Medusa in a different way, but I also had to be creative with lighting and shadow effects to achieve the 3D effect I was looking for.

The end result is a piece that I am very proud to have created and one that I hope will attract the attention of Simpsons and Medusa fans alike. Participating in this online art initiative has allowed me to expand my creativity and learn new techniques, which is very valuable to me as an artist.

Si bien esta iniciativa se realiza semanalmente, siempre es un desafío para mí encontrar la inspiración y la creatividad necesarias para crear una pieza única y original. Sin embargo, esta vez decidí tomar como base un personaje que siempre me ha fascinado: Medusa.

Para este diseño, quise crear un sticker con efectos 3D para que la pieza realmente saltara de la pantalla y se convirtiera en una obra interactiva. Además, elegí el estilo de los Simpsons porque siempre me ha encantado la estética única y vibrante de la serie.

Crear este fan art fue un proceso muy interesante para mí, ya que no solo tuve que pensar en cómo representar a Medusa de una manera diferente, sino que también tuve que ser creativa con los efectos de iluminación y sombras para lograr el efecto 3D que buscaba.

El resultado final es una pieza que estoy muy orgullosa de haber creado y que espero que atraiga la atención de los fanáticos de los Simpsons y de Medusa por igual. Participar en esta iniciativa de arte en línea me ha permitido expandir mi creatividad y aprender nuevas técnicas, lo que es muy valioso para mí como artista.

Every water-breather in ΛZMΛRÉ knows that Gorgons live in their waters. A simple trip to the ocean floor reveals the statues of the unfortunate Merfolk who crossed the path of a Gorgon. Medusa is the only Gorgon to reveal herself to others without turning them to stone. At least they have a choice.

Todos los habitantes de ΛZMΛRÉ que respiran agua saben que las Gorgonas viven en sus aguas. Un simple viaje al fondo del océano revela las estatuas de los desafortunados Merfolk que se cruzaron en el camino de una Gorgona. Medusa es la única Gorgona que se revela a los demás sin convertirlos en piedra. Al menos tienen elección.

Process / Proceso

Inspiration: The first thing I did was to look for inspiration for the design. I took the time to review different depictions of Medusa in different styles and art forms, as well as some examples from Simpsons characters. Then, I started sketching some ideas in my notebook.

Sketch: With the ideas in mind, I started sketching on my digital tablet. Since I already had the idea that I wanted to make a sticker with 3D effects, I had to make sure the design was simple and easily identifiable in a small size.

Lineart: Once I had the sketch, I started creating the lineart on a separate layer in my digital drawing program. Lineart is a technique used to define the contours of the design cleanly and clearly.

Color: Next, I began applying the base colors on separate layers. For this design, I chose a vibrant and bright color palette that complemented the Simpsons style.

Shading: Once we applied the base colors, I proceeded to add shadows and highlights. Shading is a technique used to create depth in a drawing, making it look more realistic. To achieve a 3D effect, I added shadows in specific areas and then softened them to give it a more natural look.

Final details: Lastly, I added some final details, such as the glow in the eyes and the texture of the hair. I also adjusted some of the colors and shadows to give the design a more cohesive look.

Me tomé el tiempo de revisar diferentes representaciones de Medusa en diferentes estilos y formas de arte, así como también algunos ejemplos de los personajes de los Simpsons. Luego, comencé a esbozar algunas ideas en mi cuaderno.

Boceto: Con las ideas en mente, comencé a hacer un boceto en mi tableta digital. Como ya tenía la idea de que quería hacer un sticker con efectos 3D, tenía que asegurarme de que el diseño fuera simple y fácilmente identificable en un tamaño reducido.
