Not a shopping list. An INVESTMENT list. Spending $169.43 to upgrade my DEATH splinter!

I often make the declaration, 'I just need to buy this one...' and then of course, that morphs into another card and another card and then before you know it - you have a long list of upgrades that are absolutely essential! I can only imagine everyone is in the same boat as me, but this week, as I made my routine purchases, I found a couple of really key upgrades in the DEATH splinter that I wanted to share - and to walk you through my process of upgrading.

Probably then my most significant upgrade was my summoner, because you know what? If you don't have a leveled up summoner, you're not going to be able to play your cards!

And for me, my DEATH summoner is THADDEUS BROOD. I like this card because he takes -1 magic from your opponent's line up. I'm looking to get a few additional MAGIC SILENCE cards to play with this guy in the near future, and it will give me a super anti-magic team. But, significantly, I've moved this card from 5 stars (7 BX) to 6 stars (11 BX). This means he is now in a position where he is MAXED for play in the GOLD league. I'm pretty stoked with this outcome, as it means I can be more competitive in gold, by gaining small advantages in pushing some of my cards.

And this was a fairly reasonably priced upgrade, you see THADDEUS' price fell this week, so I took that opportunity to pick up a couple. The 4 cards cost me, $14, 14.24, 14.33 and 14.4 for a grand total of: $64.97 - not a bad upgrade to see this shining gold card now significantly improved!

My next card to upgrade, and in truth, the one I was most excited about was my DJINN MUIRIAT: This legendary card is really a must-have, and the best part about taking this card to Level 3 is that you only need 2 cards total to do it. I had him at Level 2, but was incredibly keen to level him up as the improvement is huge. He gains an additional +1 magic attack, and significantly, the magic reflect ability. This card just went from beast to BEAST!

I'd been stalking the market a while to get this card and every time I thought I was ready to buy, someone else would grab him! You see, in the market I've seen him for as low as $53 or so a couple of weeks back, but recently, he's been between $60 and $80. I was happy to grab mine for a bargain price of only $57!

And then, it was all about upgrading one of my favourite cards, who I play a lot! It's the REWARD card Venari Bonesmith. I love his poison ability, I like to play him targeting the tank, and Uraeus' poison targeting the rear. But I purchased 7 of this card to move it from Level 4 to Level 6 in order to unlock an additional magic attack. Given this guy has the Life leech skill, this should certainly help him gain health (especially playing with a +1 magic dragon).

At $6.46, this upgrade was incredibly cheap, but it packs a lot of punch. Absolutely worth doing, if you ask me!

And then, another key card in my deck to get an upgrade was HARKLAW - this card is also a REWARD edition, but it is absolutely amazing. I was able to pick up the second card to combine him to a Level 3 and the outcome was that while his stats stay the same, he now has the demoralize skill - which is incredibly useful when coming up against an all melee attack. Now, he's ready to shut down opposing tanks! (Especially with the shield he already had!)

This upgrade set me back $25.55, which is about as cheap as you see this card. I had a small hope that on the end of season that the price might have fallen closer to $20, but that was optimistic - so I settled for the mid 25s. When this reward run has stopped printing, I think this card will likely appreciate in value quite significantly.

And then, one of my favourite upgrades - this one is worth noting, have a look: It's the Shadow Snitch, who I moved from Level 6 to Level 8 to take full advantage of the THADDEUS BROOD upgrade. That additional upgrade gave this card an extra +1 melee damage, while also increasing his speed by 1. That's key as his affliction skill needs to land on a tank early! How frustrating when your opponent just keeps healing, right?

And again, he was a cheap upgrade at only $5.61 - but I can start to see a team forming and looking incredibly ready for battle!

I also pushed my REWARDS card REVEALER and the PELACOR DECEIVER, both of which gained additional benefits. The REVEALER went from Level 3 to Level 4 to gain access to the anti-poison skill, and of course, at $11.87 for the upgrade, not too bad at all.

And then PELACOR DECEIVER moved from Level 6 to Level 8 too and in the process, gained another melee stat! The best part? It only cost me $1.97 - how's that for a cheapie?

So in total, my shopping list, I mean, investment list is pretty solid. In total in this post I detailed the spending of $169.43. And in the process of spending that, I was able to pick up an awful lot of bargains and make some significant gains in my teams. The hardest part is always upgrading the summoners and legendary cards, but now those cards have been pushed, the rest of the death set will be easy to make up with cheaper buys and good quality rentals.

Last season I struggled with my win percent in gold, which told me I needed to do some upgrading - with the additions to my DEATH deck, I hope to see my win rate improve this season ahead, making the investment not just tied to my cards, but additional season rewards and in not wasting ECR and the opportunity to earn more SPS.
