Share Your Battle Challenge! Mycelic Infantry VS Chain Golem
Mycelic Infantry are lumbering behemoth fungus. They are the least intelligent of the Mycelia and are put on the front lines as a strong defense. They are incredibly tough, but slow.
The screech of metal on metal was deafening as the golem's gears first started turning. Archmage Arius cackled in delight. He's alive! He's alive!!! Arius encoded one message before turning the golem loose upon the world: “My brother must die... find him and slay him. Only then will I release your soul back into the void.”
The golem stood, grabbed a morningstar from the wall, and lumbered loudly into the night with the blood curse and his metal prison heavy on his mind.
The Share Your Battle Challenge features the Mycelic Infantry this week, but I found a better option than him, so I would like to compare the differences between them. I love the Earth Splinter especially with the Obsidian, who will increase the Magic attack to all of her friendly creatures by one. This means that if we use the Mycelic Infantry in a mirror match he will be quite vulnerable against that.
That is why I have a better solution to mitigate the mirror match problem! 😉
The Mycelic Infantry has a Shield ability on Level 1, which will effectively protect him against any incoming Melee or Ranged attacks. This ability is a must have for a tank in Splinterlands.
On Level 5 he will receive the Giant Killer ability, which does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana.
On his final Level of 8, he will get the Enrage ability, which will increase his stats with a Multiplier x1.5 (rounded up) when he is damaged.
The Chaing Golem has the same Shield ability on Level 1 making him an excellent tank.
The main difference comes on his Level 2, where he receives the Void ability, which will work as the Shield, but now he will effectively reduce all the incoming Magic damages as well.
On Level 3 he will get the Piercing ability, which means that if a Melee or Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health.
The Stun on his final Level of 4 is amazing, but I never got to use that ability, because I am playing only in Gold League.
Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Even Stevens | Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles. |
Obsidian
The Obsidian is one of the best Earth Summoner, because she will increase the Magic damageto all of her friendly creatures by one. The Magic damage is one of the strongest attack damage in the game, because it will ignore the Armor completely and it cannot miss. 😁
Chain Golem
The Chain Golem is a similar tank like the Mycelic Infantry, because he has the Shield ability, but the Void will make him to sustain much more damage against Magic attacks as well.
Luckily I managed to get a Gold Foil version of him, which increased my income from a winning battle by 10%. 🤑
Fungus Fiend
I used the Fungus Fiend to divert any incoming opportunity attack from my opponent and I have used two creature with the Protect ability, so the 4 extra Armor comes quite handy to block some damage. 🤞
Tower Griffin
The Tower Griffin is a very useful monster, but just on Level 5, because he will receive the Protect ability, which will give +2 Armor to all of his friendly monsters. He is a neutral card and cost only four mana, so it is very easy to combine his ability with the same ability of another monster. 😁
Queen Mycelia
The Queen Mycelia is the perfect addition of the Obsidian, because she is a Magic attack creature, so she will take advantage of the plus one damage and she is a very good supporter.
Her Protect ability will give +2 Armor to everyone like the Tower Griffin and the Triage will heal the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage in every round. 😇
Khmer Princess
The Khmer Princess is one of the best Tank Healer in the game, because with the help of Obsidian she is able to deal 2 damage in every round for only two mana. There is only one healer who is cheaper, which is the blue Albatross, but that one doesn't have any damage, which is a huge disadvantage. 😅
Kron the Undying
There is not much to say about Kron the Undying, because he is one of the strongest creature in the game especially on Level 3. He will receive the Last Stand ability on Level 3, which will make sure that nobody will beat him if they need to face hom one by one.
He is the most expensive monster in my collection whenever I rent him out, but many times he secured a win for me all by himself. 😊
My opponent brought a very strong setup against me, because in a lower mana ruleset the General Sloan and the Pelacor Arbalest combo is quite deadly as long as the **Arbalest is alive. He was expecting that I will bring the Queen Mycelia to get the +2 Armor, so he brought the Time Mage to remove that, but he didn't expected that I will bring the Tower Griffin as well and to further buff my Armor by 2. 😅
My mages proved why they are so powerful and they killed two of my opponent creatures in the first round and the Chain Golem was still alive supported by the Khmer Princess.
In the beginning of the second round my Chain Golem died as well, but their Ranged attack creatures started to fall in to the first position where they are completely useless and they die rather quick. 😁
I have made an experiment where I simulated a mirror match where my opponent would bring the Mycelic Infantry instead of the Chain Golem and the result was quite obvious. That is why I pick the Chain Golem over the the Infantry. The only advantage of the Infantry is if you can use his Giant Killer ability effectiveley, but you need a much higher mana cap for that.

Where did you get the win percentages? That seems like a great tool I’d like to try out.
