Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Fire & Regret)

eq_banner.png

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Fire & Regret and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

image.pngAll units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.image.png
Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks. The Amplify ability increases damage.

This ruleset is an intetresting one, because it gives reflected damage back to the Ranged attackers, which is similar to the Thorns, but that one is against the Melee attackers.

The reflected damage is 2, but with the Amplify ability you can increase this by one and the Reflection Shield ability will completely negate this effect.

image.png

There are only 3 Ranged monsters in the game currently who has the Reflection Shield ability, so it is better to use a setup which doesn't include any Ranged attack monster just to be safe.

The problem starts when you have rolled the Going the Distance and the Fire & Regret ruleset at the same time, which allows you to use only Ranged attack monsters! 😁

RulesetDescription
Fire & RegretAll units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle.
AimlessAll monsters have the Scattershot ability.
Close RangeRanged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.

This was a high mana cap battle, which is my favorites, because it allows me to use whichever monster I want for my battle and use any kind of strategy in order to counter the three ruleset combined.

I have thinking to use mainly Magic attack monsters over the Melee ones, because they will ignore the enemy Armor completely and I was expecting that my opponent will try to use mostly Melee attack monsters, so I picked a Summoner who will reduce their Melee attack by one. 😊

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Camila Sungazer

image.png

I have picked Camila Sungazer became she is a more budget friendly summoner than Quix the Devious whom I played a lot with. I started to realise that Camila has a lot of potential, because in almost every battle there are Melee attack monsters, such as this one, so Camila will reduce the Melee attack by one to all the enemy monsters. It is very good that she cost only 3 mana, so I will have more mana for the monsters! 😊

Main Tank
Djinn Chwala

image.png

The Djinn Chwala is a very strong monster especially in lower levels, because from Level 1 he has the Thorns ability, which means that when this monster is being hit with a Melee attack he will damage back to the attacker 1 or 2 damage. He also has huge Health and Armor, which is a must have for a good tank. The only counter for him is the Magic attack monsters, because they can damage under his armor and the Thorns ability will be useless against them. Even if my opponent will bring a Magic attack monster, they will have the Scattershot ability, so they will attack randomly, so my tank is pretty safe from them.

The +1 damage for a Level 5 Chwala is also an amazing deal! 😁

Off-tank and Meat Shield
Baakjira

image.png

Baakjira is a non attack monster, because he doesn't have any attack damage! His most important role is to tank the enemy Sniper creatures and soak up those damages, but in this battle he is also very good to be the target of the Scattershot abilities. He is also good as an off-tank, because he has the self Heal ability and huge Health to protect himself. His mass Slow gives -1 Speed to all the enemy monsters and the Strengthen gives +1 Health to all the friendly craetures as long as he lives. That is an amazing combination for only 6 mana! 🤗

Damage Dealer and Dodger
Djinn Oshannus

image.png

This is one of my favorite monster in the whole Splinterlands. First of all he is speedy and he has Magic attack, which is the strongest in the game. Secondly all of his ablities are amazing. The Void will make him to decrease the enemy Magic attacks against him by one. The Phase is generally a useful, because he will be able to evade the enemy Magic attacks as well using his generally high Speed.

The Forcefield will be perfect against monsters with huge damage, because if someone attacks him with a damage equal or more than 5, he wil take only 1 damage instead. 😁

Main Damage Dealer with Blast
Chaos Dragon

image.png

The Chaos Dragon is a monster that I always try to include into any of my Dragon battles. He is expensive, but his abilities and body with huge Health is something that you can't ignore. This creature has the Scattershot already, so the Aimless ruleset doesn't apply to him, which means when he attacks his target will be random, so you can't hide behind the tank and to make it worse he will attack with a Blast, which will do an additional damage to monsters adjacent to his target monster. His third ability is Blind, which comes handy to protect my team against Melee and Ranged attacks. 😇

Life Leecher Damage Dealer
Runemancer Kye

image.png

The Runemancer Kye has a similar role like the Djinn Oshannus, but with a lower Speed. She has an ability of the Life Leech, which will increase her own Health with every damage she makes against an enemy monster. Usually I use him at the back of my backline to give her enough time to build up her Health, but in the Aimless ruleset she might get hit sooner, but luckily she also has a huge health pool on her own. 😊

Sneaker
Pelacor Bandit

image.png

The Pelacor Bandit was a Reward card in the previous era and such he has a lot of copies around, which makes him very cheap to rent or even to buy. He is a 3 mana monster and has quite a good Speed and Melee attack damage with the Sneak ability. He doesn't care about the Aimless ruleset and he will attack the last monster of the enemy backline vigorously. 😆

My opponent picked a Level 6 Kelya with the monsters that I was mostly expecting that he will bring.

In the first round I lost my Pelacor Bandit, because my opponent brought a lot of monsters with the Opportunity ability and they targeted my lowest Health monster, which was the Bandit.

The second round started as badly as the first for me, because I lost my Djinn Chwala as well, but before he died he did some reflected damage back to his attackers. I had a lucky attack from my Chaos Dragon and managed to kill his Adelade.

In the third round he lost his Deeplurker, so my team was safe against his Opportunity monsters for the rest of this battle. 😁

My team had a lot of Health left on the battlefield, so it was just a matter of time to kill his last three monsters who is able to deal damage against my team. 😇
