Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Equal Opportunity)

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Equal Opportunity and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. Luckily the Splinterlands curators are quite forgiving and I can write about any other ruleset if there is none in my disposal at hand! 😇

All units gain the Opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.image.png
Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target enemy's low HP monster first, opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters. Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.

This ruleset is a very interesting one, because it allows my monsters to attack the lowest Health monsters from the enemy team, so it is important to watch out who is the weakest monster in my team as well and use that to my advantage! 😁

The Opportunity ability allows all the Melee attack monsters to make an attack from the backline, which allows me and my opponent to use some interesting unorthodox teams. 😊

RulesetDescription
Equal OpportunityAll Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Noxious FumesAll Monsters start the battle Poisoned.
Fire and RegretAll Monsters have the Return Fire ability.

This battle mana cap was 32, which is not that much, but still allows me to use some decent monsters. It is very important to protect my lowest Health monsters amd try to use the Opportunity to my favor. The Poison ruleset will kill all the low Health monsters, so the Heal and Immunity abilities might be the key for this battle. 😜

The Return Fire ability on all the monsters will effectively ban all the Ranged attack monsters, because they will kill themselves unless that is your purpose. 😊

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Lobb Lowland

Lobb Lowland is the new soulbound Earth Summoner who has the abilites to decrease the Speed of all the enemy monsters by one. The other ability of his is the fact that he can invite any of the Gladiator card into his team and use them. This makes the battles more unpredicatable and if you can take advantage of their Bloodlust ability they can easily win any battle single handedly. 😁

Main Tank
Hill Giant

I have used the Hill Giant as my main tank, because the mana cap was quite low and I had to use a very expensive card in my setup and I had to save some mana for her. This mini tank cost only 3 mana and he has a lot of Health compare to his mana cost. I always try to rent him out in a gold foil version to boost my rewards by 10% from the winning battles. 🤑

First Martyr
Fungus Flinger

The Fungus Flinger is an interesting monster, because stats wise he doesn't have anything to show, but his Martyr ability is amazing! Not for himself, but for the monsters next to him, because if he dies he will increase all the stats of his neighbourhoods. 😊

The Queen of the Splinterlands
Quora Towershead

Quora Towershead is a Gladiator card and I could use her with the new souldbound Summoner. She is an absolut Beast, because she has 2 type of attack and thanks to the Equal Opportunity she is able to use both in every round. She has the Heal ability, so she is able to restore her own Health in every round and also has the Bloodlust ability to further increase her power with every kill she makes. 🤗

Second Martyr
Venari Marksrat

I have used the Venari Marksrat for the same reason I used the Fungus Flinger to increase the stats of Quora when this rat dies. Other than that this monster is pretty useless and can't really anything else apart from his Martyr ability. 😜

Supporter and Protector
Queen Mycelia

I have tried to bring some extra layer of protection, but I think it was not really necessary. The for mana cost of her is still a very good deal for +2 Armor on all of my monsters, so I picked her. 😌

Dodger
Vampire Bat

I have used the Vampire Bat to try to protect my backline from attacking my main monster and this little beast has the Flying ability as well to gain even more evade against the incoming Melee and Ranged attacks. 😉

I am very proud of the result of this battle, because this time my opponent had more than 15 million CP and with all my rents I had a mere 250k+ CP and most of that is a rented card. If I analise this particular battle only his Llama and Kron costed 100x-200x more than my team entire team. 😎

My strategy was to utilise my only Gladiator card of Quora, because the ruleset let her attack with her Melee as well fro mthe backline and if I am lucky she will manage to deal few killing blows and increase her own stats. The other synergy I used was to put two monster with the Martyr abilitis to further increase her stats when they dies. This combo is a very difficult one and if it doesn't work as it should my opponent's Kron will eat my team alive. 😅

In the first round I lost my Vampire Bat and the Poison in the end of the round made a lot of damage on my monsters.

Quora made two killing blows in the first and second round and one of my Martyr died as well, so at the end of the second round my Quora had an amazing attacks of 5/5. 🤗

The moment of truth came at the end of the third round, because only the "god and godess" were alive and they had to fight face versus face.

Normally a Kron like that is unbeatable, but my Quora took her training seriously and increased her stats to 7/7 in order to kill the unkillable. 😁

It took her 3 rounds to damage down Kron and I would never thought of that happening. The huge cost difference between my team and my opponent's are shocked me quite a bit and I loved to see that new soulbound cards are worth collecting. 😇
