Hello Splinterlands Summoner! Today let's talk about some updates coming in Splinterlands. First, we saw some surprise updates recently.

Holloween Skins

We have the cool Holloween skins which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. Some people who loved the new skins are asking if these are just temporary though. I would guess so since it's a Holloween theme. I wish there were more though.

New Rulesets

Splinterlands also introduced five new ruleset. This will make battles more challenging and will keep you guessing which cards to play. Now, more than ever players need to deepen their decks. The more cards you have, the more choices you can field in battle. The new rulesets are very limiting. For example, if you the available Splinter is Earth and the ruleset is Need for Speed then you will have very limited choices if your cards are made up of magic units since most of them are slow by design.

New Set Conclave Arcana is Announced!

The new set is priced at the usual 4k DEC and will contain the typical 5 cards with the same chances for gold and legendary as the previous sets. There will also be a legendary pack that will cost 24k DEC but this will have a guaranteed legendary card. Another is the alchemist pack costing 12k DEC which will have a guaranteed gold card.

A Pack for New Players

The starter pack is great for new players or for players who want to play the game and strengthen their deck. The starter pack will cost 5k DEC and will contain 25 cards. However, this will only contain regular common and rare cards with 20% chance of rares. The starter packs will be non-transferrable and unlimited while the others have a set number. To attract new players, starter packs are included on every new spellbooks purchased.

Farewell to Chaos Legion Set

On the other hand, once Conclave Arcana set launches, Chaos Legion cards will move to Wild format. This includes the core set, Riftwatchers cards, as well as Chaos Legion promo and reward cards. This maybe a bad news to players who invested in Chaos Legion set.

Conclusion

I feel that Splinterlands is heading into the right direction. However, it will remain to be seen if new players will invest in the new set. While it is true that the Conclave Arcana is enticing, would it be enough to attract new players? Or would it still be old whales who will buy the new set? Further, players who have Chaos Legion set may be turned off by CL moving to wild and leave the game.
