SPLINTERLANDS - HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LADDER -RANGED EDITION

The past week passed so quickly and I had too much work, so I didn't find much time to write an article and be as active as I wanted to be in general. I will try this week to replenish the lost time if I can. Until now this summer is a bumper so far but I've got plenty of time ahead to somehow change that and go camping! Enough with that, it is time to review a battle from my daily grind and a new episode of Highlights from the ladder! The initiative for this series once again is the Share your Battle Challenge from @splinterlands.

If you are familiar with the game please skip the next part if you are new to @splinterlands, I will make a summary for you! I will try to explain what is this crypto game with a few words!
So if anyone is new here and doesn't know what the game is about let me explain it to you. Splinterlands is a play to earn a game in the NFT world. The game operates in the Hive blockchain and it is a trading game genre! To put it simply it's a card game that whenever you win you earn DEC (basically the crypto-coin of the game), the more you play and you are going up in the ladder, the more rewards you get (such as NFT-cards, etc). If you want to join and take a taste of the game, you can do that for free but if you want to start earning DEC and grind for NFT cards and earn more rewards you must buy the Summoner's Spellbook. I totally recommend starting your journey today and to help you with that we are going to review today one battle for my daily ranked games!

The Battle

Summoner Selection

Definitely, the best fit for my formation is General Sloan, he grants all friendly monsters +1 Range Attack and the majority of the cards we are going to use are Range attack. There are other choices as well but when I've got to use a formation where my main sources of damage are range, I always use this summoner! It's also very value for money, so that helps 😂

Ruleset

• Fog of War: "Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities"

Team Formation

• The first monster I used is Furious Chicken, the reason is pretty obvious to tank the first hit.
• The second monster I used is Goblin Mech, and this is our main tank for this battle. I have written before for this monster and I believe that everyone agrees that it has some pretty good stats.
• My third choice was Djinn Renova, a solid magic attack monster that grants +1 Health to all of our formation and his stats is pretty good.
• The fourth pick was our main source of damage, the Silvershield Sheriff. I really like the stats of this card, 3 Attack/Speed and 8 Health is a perfect fit for my team.
• My fifth pick was Pelacor Arbalest, this card has the desirable ability of Double Strike, which means that attacks twice per turn or to say it simply 6 damage to my opponent's monsters. It's a solid combo and one of our greatest DPS in this battle.
• Last place was taken by Evangelist, another great damage dealer with great stats and it has 3 Attack damage in level 1, that seems to me pretty strong because in combination with my summoner it translates to 4 damage per turn!

How to approach the battle

When you are dealing with the rule Fog of War, you can't play monsters with Sneak and Snipe abilities, which means that you can take advantage of that by putting your highest attack monsters even with low health in the last positions. You should secure the frontline at any costs by using some very defensive tanks and try to find a way to crush your opponent's frontline as well. An easy way to do it is by stalking his battle history and you can see what type of damage he prefers to play and even what type of class his probably going to play based on his daily focus!
