SPLINTERLANDS - HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LADDER - UNPROTECTED RULE

I have fantastic news to share with you, the next week I am going to upload a post that is going to be a completely out of the ordinary because I decided to go on a trip and share this experience with you! That means that I already am on the road and I am preparing the things I would like to show you from my little journey! So stay tuned because great things are going to happen these days. That doesn't mean of course that we are going to stop blogging about our favorite crypto game, so today we are going to review another interesting battle from my daily grind. The initiative from this series of posts is the Social Media Challenge from @splinterlands.

If you are familiar with the game please skip the next part, if you are new to Splinterlands, I will make a summary for you! I will try to explain what is this crypto game with a few words!
So if anyone is new here and doesn't know what the game is about let me explain it to you. Splinterlands is a play to earn a game in the NFT world. The game operates in the Hive blockchain and it is a trading game genre! To put it simply it's a card game that whenever you win you earn SPS and RP, the more you play and you are going up the ladder, the more rewards you get in quantity both for SPS & RP but you even get better rewards from the chests you are going to open. If you want to join and take a taste of the game, you can do that for free but if you want to start earning SPS and grind for NFT cards and earn more rewards you must buy the Summoner's Spellbook. The Battle

Ruleset

• Unprotected: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from abilities or summoner buffs

• Holy Protection: All monsters have the divine shield ability

• Also, we've got 23 Mana available and we must choose only from three classes; Fire, Water and Earth

Summoner Selection

Vera Salacia is the summoner that we are going to use in this battle, one of the reasons I chose her is that she is a very cheap solution when you have to rent a high-level summoner for Water class. The ability that it grants to our formation is not always useful but in some cases could be of critical importance. To summarize it, I would say that one reason that I chose her was that I wanted to play all my monsters at the highest level because I've got Keyla only at level 2. The other reason was that Vera costs only 3 mana which could be pretty good when you've got low-mid range Mana Points available.

Teams' Formation

In the first position, I placed Sea Monster as my tank option for this battle. The reason I chose this particular card for this job was that the stats it has are pretty strong and also the ability to Heal is a perfect fit. Whenever I face the Unprotected ruleset I try to use monsters that don't have armor because most likely would have better HP stats for sure. That makes Sea Monster a great solution.

The second place was occupied by Sabre Shark, usually, I play and recommend playing this monster at level 5 because it gains one extra attack and that makes it even more OP but it's a very good option at level 4 as well. So the reason for choosing this card was that after I decided on my main tank and summoner I had 12 mana available and the options are of course limited. The best usage I could think of was to break it down to 4 monsters which cost about 3 mana each and this card checks all the requirements.

Elven Cutthroat is in third place and I believe that most of you already know the reason. As I said earlier we are going to fill up the remaining Mana available with cards that costs about the same and the perfect tactic that works in most cases is to focus the majority of your damage on one weakness in your opponent's formation. Especially in Silver, you can easily predict what would your opponent going to play in most cases. In this battle, the weakness is the backline.

Uraeus is in fourth place and it's another damage dealer for our formation. It's not a perfect card for this situation because the speed it got is not so high but I had to place sneak monsters in order to put additional pressure on my opponent's backline. Of course, the armor didn't exist in the actual battle but even if it could hit only once it would be a win for me.

The last place was filled by Pelacor Bandit and I chose this monster to be at the end of my formation because of his Flying ability and his speed. The main reason I wanted to include it in my team was obviously the Sneak ability and his great stats but also the fact that could evade some incoming attacks from my opponent's damage dealers.
