BEING A NIGHT OWL.
No matter how we try to make a perfect sleep hours, we have all stay up late for some certain reason maybe to study, due to work or perhaps to complete a project. Sometimes we tend to dose off and it can be annoying.
I personally feel that the ability not to doze off at night is depending on the reason you stayed up late. As for me, studying for an upcoming examination is what mostly makes me stay up late at night
So yeah, depending on how close the examination is.. I have the ability to stay up late. I mean, we are all human, we feel relentless when we know we have more time (which is not a good idea).
But they are some things that I do, that keep me up, when I feel like reluctant and sleepy..
1. KEEP YOUR MOUTH BUSY :
It is always nice, if you have something to keep your mouth busy as it helps to keep you active.
- Eating snacks : it is obviously not advisable to eat heavy food at night but we can keep ourselves company by eating light snacks like… Chin-chin, plantain chips, biscuits and many more, but if you are comfortable with chewing gum, then feel free.
2. MAKE IT FUN! :
It is what helps me a lot, if you are not adding any vibe to your late night activities, it might lead to falling asleep.
Listen to low music can help to keep you awake. If u cannot concentrate while listening to music then you can try listening to slow instrumental music.
Take a break , switch harder topics to simpler ones or just take a break to do something fun and get back to what you were doing.
- Read with friends or having people around you at that moment even if they are doing their own activities.
3. LET YOUR BRAIN KNOW YOU ARE AWAKE :
Yes, let your brain be aware that it is not time for you to sleep. Here are some tips that can convince your brain;
Taking shower or washing your face before starting your night reading… it gives some kind of refreshments.
Have a reading space, reading on your bed can make you fall asleep easily. If have a reading space already, u can try change your reading space or perhaps move far away from your bedroom.
- Moving around while reading.
These are the tips that keeps me as a night owl, I hope they work you for perfectly. You should that everything takes practice.

This are really good ways to stay awake and I agree more with the last one, as long as your brain knows there is work ahead, it will do it's best to stay alert.
And keeping the mouth busy is also a good way to stay awake but I don't really like chewing anything once it's past midnight although I do that when I was so busy and I had to eat very late, hehe.
Yeah... it is a effective way.
Wow. Not even light food?
You will have eaten dinner. Just light food.

I find it so hard to munch on something while readingng. It doesn't just work for me except I am taking a break. I always have to give my full attention(that means, no movement whatsoever).
Every other tip you mentioned go well with me. But then, you've got this reading hack thing at your fingertips. Well-done!
Yeah.. I mean we are all different people but these are just things that works for me. I love munching on something, it just makes me stay awake.
Haha, for me. It will give me more reason to doze off, if I move from my normal space, it makes my brain more active.

Hehe... music is life.
In fact, right now, I just finish chewing gum as it makes me hungry more. Lol but it actually works for me too. Then taking shower and sit on a chair while the table is in front of you than sitting on the bed which makes one doze off quickly. I discovered this trick a long time ago which made me get a chair and table.
That was why I said. 'For those who are comfortable chewing gum' because I don't really like it too.

These are really wonderful ways to stay up late and it'll really help a lot of people who are facing challenges in that aspect.
Everytime I'm studying, especially late at night, I tend to get hungry so easily and when there's nothing to eat, I get so discouraged to continue😂. But the little snack I keep at home has been a lifesaver.
Listening to music while studying has also been very helpful as it helps me to keep my mind awake💯.

I'd suggest chewing non sugared gums too, they are helpful & can train jaws as well. I really like your thumbnail picture, it's pretty aesthetic!
