Magical Ginger and Turmeric, the two main ingredients in today's spicy healing drink, both contain compounds that act as antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.

Ginger

Ginger not only is a vital ingredient in dishes like spicy curry or stir fry, and homebaked goods like gingerbread, cookies, and of course, good old-fashioned Ginger Beer that only Grandma knew how to make, but also has many health benefits.

A germ fighter protects against disease, is excellent for calming nausea, aids digestion, and soothes muscle aches, as well as Arthritis.

Turmeric

Turmeric is another ingredient used in cooking spicy curries, and making Golden Milk as I shared with you recently.
Turmeric also helps ease Arthritis symptoms or any inflammatory disease for that matter, boosts immunity, treats lung conditions, as well as upper respiratory inflammation, prevents Alzheimer's disease, helps with weight loss, plus is claimed to help with many other ailments.
Health Benefits of Turmeric tea

Ginger & Turmeric Tea is a must during the flu season, so we have been drinking it regularly.

Naturally using fresh Ginger root and Turmeric root is the very best, but if you cannot find any, powdered form is also ok, but it is vital to use organic Ginger and Turmeric.

It is vital to remember that the powdered form is way stronger, so use your discretion when making tea with the powder, or the flavour would be overpowering!

Quantities are to taste, but I will share what I use to make 2 large mugs/heatproof glasses of this tea.

Ginger & Turmeric Tea
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons pure Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 700ml Boiled Water
(You can add a couple of peppercorns as this greatly enhances the absorption of Curcumin, the active ingredient in Turmeric.)
Let this steep for a couple of minutes, strain, and serve.

What a lovely artistic photo! And another. And another. I was just staring at my ginger and tumeric bushes today and wondering when I can go and dig up those wonderful rhizomes. The leaves haven't quite died back yet so I need to be patient a little longer.

Hey excellent drink, many years ago I used to consume curcuma with milk to relieve the sciatic nerve in my cervical spine. Excellent ingredients both...cheers

That's good to hear @milik80, I've only recently started having this drink and golden milk as well. My shoulder's been giving me a problem for a couple of months already, physio, and meds from the doc, is not helping, so I'm now hoping this helps.

So healthy a tea @lizelle . I love ginger tea and just tried a creamy turmeric tea combination of soy milk and turmeric. Taste so great. Thanks for sharing this combination. I generally love root organic teas.

I'm sure the golden milk would be nice with soy milk as well, I never thought of that!
Thank you for popping in @sunshine29.
