Ma’amalade sandwich a la Liz

Paddington Bear did not pop into my humble abode for tea, but that did not stop me from enjoying my very own special Marmalade Sandwich.

This sandwich-making took a heck of a long time, it in fact started the day before!

I had run out of Marmalade, and when a special friend sent me some oranges and lemons after asking if I could make Marmalade for her daughter to take back home all the way to Scotland, I was only too happy to oblige!

I simply love a chunky and well-set jam, and must confess I often eat a spoonful, as if it's candy!

I had planned on making my own version of sourdough bread, but... had neglected mother during the heat of summer. When I lifted the lid, something was very off and I immediately remembered a post @fionasfavourites published some time back about how she killed mother.
So now I've done the same sad deed and will have to start all over again to get a new batch of sourdough-starter going!

I sent hubby off to a local food market. No sourdough bread, but he came back with a nice loaf of seed bread.

Some may think it's crazy, but my favourite Marmalade sandwich is made with the addition of good old English Cheddar Cheese, finely grated.

A thick layer of Marmalade and Cheese is the way to go if you want a flavour explosion.

It's rather difficult making dainty sandwiches with chunky Marmalade, but these were really good, with a cup of good English tea.

Not quite fit for a queen, but nevertheless really good, and kept me going for the rest of the afternoon.

You may not be a royalist but likely have already seen the little skit between Paddington Bear and the late Queen Elizabeth, but I could not resist sharing it here in my sandwich post, gives me a chuckle each time I see it.

Ha, marmelade and cheese.... you just made me think of my sister. Though probably she would have added some mustard and ham to that. Hahahahahaha

Your sister and I could have such a nice chat over a cuppa, that combo sounds very good as well!

A cheese and marmalade sandwich is up there with cheese and chutney! Especially with a really mature cheddar...

Should we be making a plan for me to be sending you some of Ursula's offspring?

I would love to have some of her off-spring and will let you know if I can't find a decent starter locally, thanks Fiona xxx

Wao! I didn't know about this great community.

I can imagine the combination of these flavors in a sandwich. Thanks for sharing.
