South West UK mini Hive meetup

I'm told this place has over 200 beers, not that it matters much to me as I don't really drink. But when @millycf1976 told me we would be meeting here, and I told hubby, his eyes lit up like a child in sweet shop. He loves a good pint. When I arrived, my eyes lit up as well. Not because of all the different types of beer available, but because I'm always fascinated by shelves full of different colorful products all lined up neatly like soldiers.

This place is called Tuckers Maltings and @scubahead had posted about it before here. I think the building used to be some bottling shop and the decor is quite rustic, with exposed ceiling beams and wooden barrels as tables. We arrived here quite early in the evening and it was very quiet but got busier as the night went by but I waited till we left late at night before I took a photo of the inside with no one around. But I kid you not, this place was not deserted like this during the evening.

The only downside of drinking here is that they don't serve food, just these nibbles which doesn't help a lot when you're starving. Mid way through the evening, hubby needed some foody otherwise he gets a bit hangry as @millycf1976 describes it, (I love that word by the way!!) so @diveratt very kindly went out to get some pizza for us. Normally I'm not a big fan of Domino pizza, but that evening they tasted so yummlicious , that I tucked in immediately.

This is Doggy, it's a rescue dog and belongs to a regular. The guys working here says the regular sometimes leave Doggy here when they pop out, and Doggy feels quite at home here. However, Doggy is quite shy, it was ok with me taking photos of it, but moved away when I tried to take a close up. Maybe the poor thing has been traumatized in the past. The bar tender suggested that I feed Doggy a snack so I could take a close up shot of it, but I don't like pets 😅and didn't like the thought of a dog eating out of my hand so he kindly fed Doggy for me to take a photo.

The blogger in me didn't take many photos that night as I was so happy to meet Camille and the gang and forgot about the blogging side for a while. We've been conversing quite a lot on Discord and since I was in the area, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to meet more Hivers in real life. I managed to get the mandatory group meet up photo before we left. Great meeting you @millycf1976 @diveratt and @scubahead in real life at last!!!

It's always great meeting people from Hive. Hopefully we can arrange one in London or nearby sometime, and more people can join us.

Nice to see a meetup happening. I like the look of the venue. Anywhere I can try new beers is good. There are a few other people down that way, so I hope there can be more events.

I believe that's the guys' bolthole now and I can understand why. There were a lot of choices there.

Actually, after HF, I was in Copenhagen, and on the last evening there, I did another meet up, and met up with cwow2. He was great, came out with a few hours notice. If I had a bade for all meet up, I'd be doing quite well 😀

200 types of bears in a same place.It is really insane. It was cute dog.Instead of snaks you could offer the 🐕 a peg also.

It was a great place to meet up, load of drink choices for the guys and not too noisy for a chat. Pizza was a bonus as well, of course!

This is a great meeting. When I am in a more central part of Turkey I will organize a meetup to meet more Hivers. By the way, didn't you come up with the idea to blur one of the photos and use it for the HPUD guessing contest? I bet you did 😂😂

There seems to be a big and active Team Turkey, I'm sure it will be a great turnout if you guys did a meet up.

Apparently the guys have been trying to get @millycf1976 to go out with them for a long time, but so far she has resisted, so I'm very please she came out with them this time

It was a lovely evening that unfolded so easily. It's like we've known you forever, and that's what makes Hive so special. At least I left the house that evening because scubahead and diveratt had been badgering me for weeks to join them there. I wasn't disappointed with the pub at all, except the fact that they only serve drinks. Hopefully they'll do regular meals soon, and not just pizza on Fridays.

Thanks for a lovely suggestion, and for coming to meet up. Given the state hubby was in, it was lucky we had a decent photo at all!! Hopefully, we can catch again some time!

Couldn't agree more, I've been to a few meetups now, and enjoyed everyone of them, it makes so much difference when you meet someone IRL, it makes everything so real.

The rustic decor definitely has its charm, but I still think it looks cozy. If you forget to take many photos, it's usually the best time :)

Wow, I’m with you… I like shelves with lots of products in different colour spread out over them.
Looks like a great night out. And the pizzas did wonders half way through.

Funny thing. I was once in a similar bar and I went with some Czech beer. I got the dustiest bottle of them all, and the bartender was probably celebrating this "at last" sale :) Well, I liked the beer, I mean it is Czech beer. They don't fool with this matter.

Looks like a really nice pub. Would’ve been spoilt for choice there, wow, the selection looks amazing. I fancy a pint now!

I’m the same with dominos, we never buy it but when at work and they get one to share between us all….
