Today, when everyone is feeling slightly better and I used my last piece of Avocado and made Avocado egg sandwich, with mom only taking white egg, while dad had scramble eggs with me.

Quarantine....

Yeah, yeah... a lot of people would say this is a "plandemic" and it is "not real" yada-yada; but you can't ignore all the signs: Back ache, runny nose, cough, phlegm, fever, heartbeat racing, hypertension compromised: All the whole 9 yards kind of "flu-like symptoms", but just MANY TIMES worse.

We tried our very best not to rely on Western medication at first with herbal remedies and continued with Vit C, D, Zinc, Magnesium, nasal washing and lots of sleep; but both my very elderly parents hit a small turn downhill (much later) and I had to make that decision to receive medical help, that turned things around for them at least.

In the mean time, since I cannot freely roam around shopping as usual, we used up whatever we had at home first, before I tried ordering a take away from The Fish Bowl online, with a PROMO-Code shared by my Connect Member who was also at the Christmas party, and unfortunately caught the virus as well.

Good thing her children are only tested influenza positive. I believe there was a mixture of viruses flying that night, because 1/3 of the "infected" were covid, another 1/3 were normal flu, while 1/3 were healthy and uneffected.

Before mom succumed to the virus, trying to hold the fort while dad and myself were Knocked-Off, she made some Asian style Soup with all the vegetables she could find in the fridge:

Pumpkin (buttersquash), baby potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and onion

And it was actually quite a huge pot she made, but due to the fact this virus discourages appetite, we had a lot of left overs; so last night when I was finally started feeling better, after countless of "re-boils" to keep the soup un-stale / sour in a room temperature, I decided to blend them all up, sift through, added ginger powder and a crack of black pepper to whip up a pumpkin soup with warmed up sourdough for mom.

Avocado, the soure of good fat

While mom was still barred from eggs due to the yolk has inflammatory content that is bad for her post-surgery eye, I decided to separate and get the whites for her. Egg whites are great source of (cleanest) protein especially when all of us are compromised with covid, so it was a good option for her to get some Avocado eggs on toast for a change.

That one piece could last many of us till late afternoon. So basically besides sleeping, we had 2 meals a day.

The Fish Bowl

What got me ordering this "boxy healthy meal" was that it has always been my colleague's favourite. Every single time when she has to rush through work, as a nursing mother, she had to get as much good fat (like Avocado) and greens (she picked up this habit in UK) where her very Asian family usually distastes.

Being blessed with a 40% discount and FREE DELIVERY, I have decided to give it a try. I know if it wasn't for the discount code I wouldn't be able to call it because the original price costs MYR21 (before service and delivery charges), which is close to $5 USD (including delivery fee).

If it wasn't for the honey chicken meat (that's kind of meh) and dad's fetish for rice, I wouldn't order with the rice. So I also whipped up something less healthy, a can of hot baked beans to incorporate into the dish for dad as well.

Coconut Water

Coconut water has always been our "saviour" from the flu. Every single time we miss the weekly freshly opened coconut water, something "off" will happen. It's like our "health ritual" so to speak, and this time, how we caught the virus, was also because it has been more than 2 months we didn't get our weekly dose of coconut water due to unavailability by our local seller / it was raining heavily.

Today is day 5 since I caught the virus, and though I was still tested positive on day 4, with much rest and prayers, I am actually beginning to feel much better and less lethargic. Dad is already feeling better (his is day 6) and he is starting to feel hungry easily, which is a sign of great recovery. Tomorrow on Christmas eve we will test one more time, while mom, who's a little late succumbing to the virus, will need to stay in for one more day. We pray hard that by 26th the virus is gone from her, otherwise I have to re-schedule her hospital appointment for her post surgery follow up.

Your prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated and well coveted.

Until Then

Stay healthy, stay curious and learn new things, and stay happy!
