Zen-Bridge or Bridge-Zen?

Good morning, fellow travelers and lovers of the Black and White Photography.

I am sure you have already heard, by my posts here or by other travelers, about the beautiful old stone bridge called The Devil's Bridge in Southern Bulgaria, on Arda river, close to the town of Ardino (yes, named after the same river).

Today, though, I am sharing some Zen stone pyramids that people like to build there. Personally, I don't know where that trend came from but I admit there is some special invisible energy about those sympatric tiny piles...

Apparently, after people have forgotten how to build such bridges, they want to build at least something out of stones :)

People used to create cairns to mark trails. When I was a kid I used to follow routes from cairn to cairn. Unfortunately, many people knock them over and put up misdirecting rock piles.

But I guess we have GPS ... which is more reliable.

The art of rock stacking was super popular a decade back. There was a little bit of kick back because some people were stacking rocks is relatively pristine areas and trampling down the under growth in the process; so it fell out of favor. It is still fun to find well stacked rocks.

Directional stacks, I totally get that. At popular places, full of tourists... Must be some fashion trend or just doing what other people do...
Thanks for your input!

The bridge is a stunning structure, and the pyramids add a touch of tranquility and mystery to the scene.

I'm not sure where the trend of building Zen stone pyramids came from either, but I agree that there is something special about them. They seem to capture the essence of balance and harmony, and they're a reminder that even the simplest things can be beautiful.
