Etudes for Great White Herons
I don't how it is with you, fellow traveler souls, but where I live and around, the wild birds are quite cautions and are easily getting scare and fly way thus not allowing the curious humans anywhere near them. So it is harder to take good bird photos on random meetings :)
So we were driving near the shores of a beautiful lake when I suddenly noticed a flock of Great White Herons. I love these birds, they are so gorgeous, gracious and seasoned fishers :) Especially when they are in flight, their beauty is really breathtaking.
Being well aware of the fact they don't allow people close to them, I prepared my camera with a tele-photo lens before opening the door of the car. That's quite interesting - you can pass near them with the car and they don't seem to care but once we stop they get cautious and once a car door is opening, they usually take off within seconds.
On this occasion, exactly the same happened. Again. However, I was able to take a few good, in my own opinion, pictures of their unique beauty...
I am always very grateful when such "meetings" happen and I have the time to prepare. Sometimes I feel the birds just allow me to photograph them, other times they are not willing at all :)

You're welcome @lightcaptured. Looking forward to you reaching your new target 😅
I love great white egrets and can remember seeing their smaller cousins, the Little Egret for the very first time here in England. They've gone from a rarity to rather common, which is amazing!
They are so beautiful indeed. Probably as the planet climate changes, they fly in from somewhere else?
That’s exactly the reason we’ve seen more and many never made their home here abcs as such they have become native to the U.K. now
Gracefulness - that's my definition of these birds. And a 'heron' even sounds a little aristocratic to me. I can't even remember what this word is in my native language because I know it in English and no other language 😄. And these are probably the most aristocratic birds I have ever seen live.
Good capture! I love your pictures!
