Drummond Gardens, Beauty in Beauty, Scotland
My story today is inspired by three things:
- The breathtaking beauty of the amazing Drummond Castle Gardens, Perthshire, Scotland. I really feel lucky to have had the opportunity to spend time there during our stay in Scotland and I am obliged to share my photos and experiences!
- The fact that yesterday the football team of Scotland lost the game at Euro 2024 and is going home. They lost in a dramatic way so let's say, this story compensates a bit ;)
- Well, the third thing, somewhat unorthodox, you will have to show some patience and read this or just scroll down to the final paragraphs and check it out! A tiny hint though: this place is in the news!
Wow!
Yeah, that was the first word, if that is a word at all, that came to me after a long period of just standing there and contemplating that all!
Now, before I bring more garden details and points of view, let me share some access info.
It was nice to drive there, long narrow one-way roads in a tunnel of trees.
There is a free forest parking, with enough capacity to accommodate several cars and buses. Also, with clean and big restrooms.
One minute walk from the parking to the castle gate.
Tickets are sold at the entrance of the castle, that is also the tower house.
Admissions are GBP 10.00 for adults, GBP 4.00 for children and GBP 22.00 for families.
I would say this is a pretty fair price, considering the standards of living there and moreover, what's inside! :)
I suppose this site is some part of a bike route as that day I saw many people entering the castle by bikes.
Once we got our tickets, I saw the mansion. The house of the Earl. It is not open to the public but still, quite impressive even only from outside.
I saw many sundials that day.
The most impressive set is at the center of the gardens, a huge sundial with coat of arms and many smaller sundials on it :)
I guess time was of the essence for the barons!
Time really flies here and a good book could be a good companion as there are many benches to sit under the shades.
However, there are too many doors to enter and alleys to walk.
... and so many trees to hug.
... and stories of glory and past times to hear.
Now here is something amusing ;)
While I was browsing the central parts of the park I stumbled upon four people gardening. Since I am also gardening myself, I've been thinking about the amounts of hard work needed to maintain those stunning gardens in their perfect shape. And wow, only four persons? One lady and three gents only?
So I went asking them. Of course, I saluted them about the amazing work they do, as it was quite obvious! So the lady shared to me there are only four of them employed full-time to garden but there are also some part-time gardeners and also volunteers coming to help during the weekends. Quite nice, no?
While I was still talking to them, a women approached us and said to the gardeners:
"What an amazing job you have!"
To which, the lady gardener responded to her in a second:
"Wanna switch?"
That brough everyone to a laugh, apart from the question asker, of course :) Trust me, gardening is not easy and if one doesn't like that kind of labor... better don't start at all!
In case you get tired or need something to refresh, there is this small cantina in one of the garden corners.
A wonderful place with a view to sit and have a coffee or a snack, right?
To chop-chop or not to chop-chop, as Brits like to say! :D
The gardens also have an orchard and a greenhouse.
If you wonder who is mowing those endless lawns, it isn't "who" but "what" instead as they had several of those quiet electric robots, constantly doing the job and they heading to their almost hidden recharging stations.
Overall, I find the gardens pretty amazing and I bet you will do too!
I really have to say here that I think the person who designed those gardens had been a true landscape genius for their time... Sometimes, even just by a tiny rotation of my position, some completely new views were popping up in front of my eyes... Wow indeed! Yup, it is really hard to find better words to express my admiration and awe of this divine place. Moreover, think of this, as it had been created many centuries ago...
I hope you've enjoyed this!
Now, here is that third thing from the beginning of my story.
I am not exactly a fashion type of person but still, unorthodox beauty and style really impress me. Very recently, the first catwalk show by Dior has been filmed on that location. The video, is, of course, of superb quality and very artistic. Fashion is art as well!
Here it is:

Thanks! Recently I imported all my pinmapple points to your map, but got two errors and couldn't find a way to manually add those two "special" pins.
I'll take a look - do you know the two posts affected by the error?
Unfortunately I didn't save those two items. After seeing those two erroneous, I repeated the process as somehow I was under the impression it would import those two missing items. It said everything is imported already though and as I had few hundred of pins, it would be hard to dig that out I think... Thank you :)
I am sure those two were not recent, they were somewhere after the middle of the list.
Congratulations, your post has been added to WorldMapPin! 🎉

Quite impressive views. I am not a fan of high fashion like Dior but to see that garden view from the top of the stairs is something I could wake up to every morning. Stunning.
Really impressive ones, yes :)
Well, once in 70 years should be ok, I guess :))) Those emotionless faces are kinda fun, no? :D
Thank you!
Not really but some of the outfits do strike an idea. 😀

I'm really sorry Scotland lost the game. But experience will also trigger success in the future.
I can pass through that long perch full of trees many times without getting bored. It was nice to hear the pleasant conversation with the people working in the garden. I dabbled in gardening for a short time. Even though it seems easy and fun, it is not without its challenges.
The view of the symmetrically cut grass and those big-hearted green trees is magnificent. They spread the energy of peace into the air.
The pictures are very beautiful, congratulations.
Thank you!
Good that what they lost was just that - a game. Plenty of money involved but still a game.
This place is indeed breathtaking!
So charming gardens ❤️
They definitely have put a spell on me! :)
Keep up the good work. 👏
You are loved. 🤗 + u deserve the best. 💪
