New Soulbound Reward Cards Are Live! + Modern or Wild Format? My Final Test!

On Splinterlands, time is marked by seasons that are 15 days long.
Today is February 1, 2023, and a few hours ago a new season began, which is not a season like all the previous ones because it is the season in which the new Soulbound Reward Cards were introduced, replacing the previous Reward Cards.

For the first time Splinterlands introduces Reward Cards that can be used in battle but:

• cannot be sold
• cannot be transferred
• cannot be rented
• cannot be burned in exchange for DEC tokens.

These limitations will be temporal limitations because when a new collection will be introduced, it will be possible to use a certain amount of DEC tokens to remove the sale and transfer limitations from Soulbound Reward cards.

Differently to previous versions of the reward cards, the new Soulbound Reward Cards do not have a predetermined maximum number of copies but will have a distribution time as clarified by Splinterlands in one of its messages on the Official-Announcements channel (see screenshot below).

The new Soulbound Rewards Cards are in total 43 and can only be found within the chests that constitute the seasonal rewards and daily rewards of active Splinterlands players.

I have already found my first Soulbound Reward Cards.
Today I opened 6 Diamond chests and found:

• 2 copies of Thane Newsong
• 10 copies of Terraceous Grunt

I found two cards of the Earth element and of the two I particularly like Thane Newsong which could be very useful to me in battle but only from level 5 onwards.

The introduction of the new reward cards also brought another change that concerns the content of chests that now can contain multiple copies of a reward card within a single chest.

The latest announcements released by Splinterlands and the recently introduced new features have positively moved the values of Splinterlands assets (NFTs, DEC and SPS), which have seen good increases in value over the past 30 days as you can see from the graphs at https://www.splintercards.com/index.html

Among the new Reward Cards are cards that have 3 new abilities (Conscript, Martyr and Weapon Training) and it is these new abilities that will expand the strategies to be used in battle and change the battle utility of some cards.

In one of my previous post I analyzed the three new abilities Conscript, Martyr and Weapon Training and showed some possible strategies to use in battle.

After today's update from Splinterlands the DEC token section has also changed and has been expanded.

You can now see some useful information about DEC tokens directly from the Splinterlands site:

• Total Supply
• Total Circulating
• Market Price
• Market Cap

A section for DEC-B (DEC Batteries) tokens has also been added.

The DEC-B tokens will be Soulbound tokens that can be used to purchase certain assets but cannot be sold or transferred.
The use of DEC-B tokens will be similar to CREDITS with the difference that DEC-B tokens can only be purchased using DECs or VOUCHERS as the payment method.

The sale of DEC-B tokens will begin on February 8 at 18:00 GMT and the price will be 0.8 DECs for 1 DEC-B.

Wild or Modern Format? My Test Results

In the recently concluded season, I continued a test that I had started 30 days ago to evaluate and choose which format of ranked battles to play on: Wild or Modern.

Before the start of my test I had always chosen to play in the ranked battles of the Wild Format.
To conduct my test I played almost the same number of battles in the ranked battles of the two formats.

In the image below you can see the starting point of my test in the last completed season:

• Modern Format - Rating: 1900 - League: Gold III
• Wild Format - Rating: 1900 - League: Gold III

In Modern Format I finished the season in league Diamond II with a rating score of 3101 points.

In the Wild Format I finished the Diamond III league season with a rating score of 2846 points.

I played 3 more battles in the Wild Format because in 3 battles I did not line up on time and therefore lost the battles without playing them.

I entered all the data I collected during my test into a table.

I got a much lower win rate than my previous test ia due to the fact that I always played with little time available and for this reason I almost never looked at the last five lineups fielded by my opponent.

In fact, looking at the formations used by the opponent in the previous 5 battles is the best way to increase the win rate

The gain in SPS tokens was clearly in favor of the Wild Format with a +33.17% per win.
My personal results are almost in line with the average results indicated by the useful Reward Pool Statistics tool at https://splex.gg/tools/reward_pools

The main purpose of my test was not to check the difference in SPS token gain but was to see if a higher win rate in the modern format allowed me to get more chests such that it would offset or exceed the lower SPS token gain .

From comparing the Reward Points I obtained in the two formats, the difference yields a gain of just over two more Diamond-type seasonal chests in the Modern Format than in the Wild Format.

The results I have collected in the last two seasons show that I have always made the right choice to play in the Wild Format even if it was a choice based initially only on my habit of using some of my cards from the Beta collection.

At the moment my collection of Beta + Untamed + Dice + Chaos Legion + Riftwatchers cards allows me to play in both formats with very close game results (win rate).
This is a positive aspect that I register today because in the future I can decide to switch from one format to another choosing based on the average rewards distributed.

So in the current season I will return to play and focus only on the ranked battles of the Wild Format and the data I collected and analyzed today will serve me to make a further comparison and analysis of my decision at the end of the current season.
Of course, my decision may change again in the future based on the cards I purchase or upgrade in the future.

Sono Arrivate le Nuove Soulbound Reward Cards! + Il mio test finale sui formati Wild e Modern

Su Splinterlands il tempo è scandito dalle stagioni che hanno una durata di 15 giorni.
Oggi è il 1 febbraio 2023 e da poche ore è iniziata una nuova stagione che non è una stagione come tutte le precedenti perchè è la stagione in cui sono state introdotte le nuove Soulbound Reward Cards che hanno sostituito le precedenti Reward Cards.

Per la prima volta Splinterlands introduce delle Reward Cards che possono essere utilizzate in battaglia ma:

• non possono essere vendute
• non possono essere trasferite
• non possono essere noleggiate
• non possono essere bruciate in cambio di token DEC

Queste limitazioni saranno limitazioni temporali perchè quando verrà introdotta una nuova collezione sarà possibile utilizzare un certo quantitativo di token DEC per rimuovere le limitazioni di vendita e trasferimento dalle Soulbound Reward cards.

A differenza delle precedenti versioni delle reward cards le nuove Soulbound Reward Cards non hanno un numero massimo prestabilito di copie ma avranno un tempo di distribuzione come precisato da Splinterlands in un suo messaggio sul canale Official-Announcements (vedi screenshot seguente).

Le nuove Soulbound Rewards Cards sono in totale 43 e possono essere trovate solo all'interno dei forzieri che costituiscono le ricompense stagionali e le ricompense giornaliere dei giocatori attivi di Splinterlands.

Io ho già trovato le mie prime Soulbound Reward Cards.
Oggi ho aperto 6 forzieri Diamond e ho trovato:

• 2 copie di Thane Newsong
• 10 copie di Terraceous Grunt

Ho trovato due carte dell'elemento Terra e tra le due mi piace particolarmente Thane Newsong che mi potrebbe essere molto utile in battaglia ma solo dal livello 5 in poi.

L'introduzione delle nuove reward cards ha portato anche un'altra novità che riguarda il contenuto dei forzieri che adesso possono contenere più copie di una reward card all'interno di un singolo forziere.

Gli ultimi annunci pubblicati da Splinterlands e le novità introdotte di recente hanno smosso in modo positivo i valori degli assets di Splinterlands (NFTs, DEC e SPS) che negli ultimi 30 giorni hanno registrato dei buoni aumenti di valore come puoi vedere dai grafici del sito https://www.splintercards.com/index.html

Tra le nuove Reward Cards ci sono carte che hanno 3 nuove abilità (Conscript, Martyr e Weapon Training) e proprio queste nuove abilità amplieranno le strategie da usare in battaglia e modificheranno l'utilità in battaglia di alcune carte.

In un mio precedente post ho analizzato le tre nuove abiità Conscript, Martyr e Weapon Training e ho mostrato alcune possibili strategie da utilizzare in battaglia.

Dopo l'aggiornamento effettuato oggi da Splinterlands è cambiata anche la sezione dei token DEC che è stata ampliata.

Adesso è possibile vedere direttamente dal sito di Splinterlands alcune utili informazioni sui token DEC:

• Total Supply
• Total circulating
• Market Price
• Market Cap

E' stata anche aggiunta una sezione per i token DEC-B (DEC Batteries).

I token DEC-B saranno token Soulbound che potranno essere utilizzati per acquistare determinati assets ma non potranno essere venduti o trasferiti.
L'utilizzo dei DEC-B sarà simile ai CREDITI con la differenza che i DEC-B portanno essere acquistati solo utilizzando come metodo di pagamento i DEC o i VOUCHER.

La vendita dei token DEC-B inizierà il giorno 8 febbraio alle ore 18:00 GMT e il prezzo sarà di 0.8 DEC per 1 DEC-B.

Wild o Modern Format? My Test Results

Nella stagione da poco conclusa ho continuato un test che avevo iniziato 30 giorni fa per valutare e scegliere su quale formato delle ranked battles giocare: Wild o Modern.

Prima dell'inizio del mio test avevo sempre scelto di giocare nelle ranked battles del Wild Format.
Per svolgere il mio test ho giocato quasi lo stesso numero di battaglie nelle ranked battles dei due formati.

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere il punto di partenza del mio test nell'ultima stagione completata:

• Modern Format - Rating: 1900 - League: Gold III
• Wild Format - Rating: 1900 - League: Gold III

Nel Modern Format ho concluso la stagione in lega Diamond II con un punteggio di rating di 3101 punti.

Nel Wild Format ho concluso la stagione in lega Diamond III con un punteggio di rating di 2846 punti.

Ho giocato 3 battaglie in più nel Wild Format perchè in 3 battaglie non ho scierato la formazione in tempo e quindi ho perso le battaglie senza giocarle.

Ho inserito tutti i dati che ho raccolto durante il mio test in una tabella.

Ho ottenuto un win rate molto più basso del mio precedente test a causa del fatto che ho sempre giocato con poco tempo a disposizione e per questo motivo non ho quasi mai guardato le ultime cinque formazioni schierate dal mio avversario.

Il guadagno in token SPS è nettamente a favore del Wild Format con un +33.17% per vittoria.
I miei risultati personali sono quasi in linea con i risultati medi indicati dall'utile tool Reward Pool Statistics del sito https://splex.gg/tools/reward_pools

Il principale scopo del mio test non era di verificare la differenza di guadagno in token SPS ma era di verificare se un win rate maggiore nel modern format mi avesse permesso di ottenere un numero maggiore di forzieri tale da compensare o superare il minor guadagno in token SPS .

Dal confronto dei Reward Points che ho ottenuto nei due formati, la differenza produce un guadagno di poco più di due forzieri stagionali di tipo Diamante in più nel Modern Format rispetto al Wild Format.

I risultati che ho raccolto nelle due ultime stagioni mostrano che ho sempre fatto la scelta giusta anche se era una scelta basata inizialmente solo sulla mia abitudine di utilizzare alcune mie carte della collezione Beta.

Al momento la mia collezione di carte Beta + Untamed + Dice + Chaos Legion + Riftwatchers mi permette di giocare in entrambi i formati con risultati di gioco molto vicini (win rate).
Questo è un aspetto positivo che registro oggi perchè in futuro potrò decidere di passare da un formato ad un altro scegliendo in base alle ricompense medie distribuite.

Nella stagione in corso tornerò a focalizzarmi solo sulle ranked battles del Wild Format e i dati che ho raccolto e analizzato oggi mi serviranno per fare un ulteriore confronto e un'ulteriore analisi della mia decisione alla fine della stagione in corso.
Ovviamente la mia decisione potrebbe cambiare nuovamente in futuro in base alle carte che acquisterò o potenzierò in futuro.
