It's time to build a new desktop PC!

Technology makes huge strides and runs very fast and technology equipment soon becomes obsolete like my desktop Pc which is now almost a "dinosaur" because I have been using it for more than 10 years.

I use my desktop PC mainly for work but in my free time I use it for the activities I like to do such as posting and interacting on Hive and playing blockchain-based games.

My "dinosaur" PC has the following configuration:

• CPU: Intel i3-530
• RAM: 6 GB DDR3
• NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1 GB
• SSD: 250 GB
• 3 HDDs: 4 terabytes in total

My desktop pc has survived so many years mainly thanks to the introduction of solid-state disk drives (SSDs) to the market.
If I had not replaced my old hard disk with a fast SSD I would have 100% replaced my pc with a new one already several years ago.
In those 10 years I replaced the power supply 4 times and also replaced the thermal paste on the CPU once because the CPU temperatures had become too high and caused the computer to shut down after a few minutes of use.

Today my computer still allows me to do a lot of things but it starts to be slow in multi-tasking and I am often forced to use my laptop that is 4 years old and has a better configuration (Intel i7 - 12 GB RAM - SSD 500 GB) but does not have the comfort of my desktop PC and its two monitors that you can see in the picture on the cover that I took a few years ago while my daughter was playing Splinterlands.

So the time has come to assemble a new PC and today I started to research and look at some ready-made PC configurations found in online computer/electronics stores.

When it is necessary to buy a new PC the first decision to make is:

Buy a Ready-to-Use Desktop Computer or buy the various components separately and assemble it?

I already know the answer but in this post I will go step by step and show the results of the two options.

I have a budget of about 1000 euros and to get an initial idea of the computer to assemble I went to the website of a famous Italian electronics store chain and searched among the desktop computers for sale those that had the Intel i5-13400F CPU.
I have already chosen the CPU I would like but I still have to decide on all the other components.

In the table below you can see the 4 purchase options that the online store offered me when I entered Intel CPU i5-13400F as a search filter.

The first difficulty in buying a pre-built computer online is that component specifications are never complete.
For example, in the first purchase option, the chipset from the Mother Board is not specified.

I discarded the first two options because the third option and the fourth option are better than the first two options in my opinion.

Then I went to Amazon and chose the components with equal or better specifications than the two configurations in the above table.

In the table below you can see the comparison of the assembled pc configuration with the two previous options.
The assembled computer has better components than the first option and has components equal to the second option and has a total cost of 1042.11 euros.

The savings are:

• -156.89 euro compared to the first option
• -656.89 euro compared to the second option

From my simulation I got good savings but I can definitely do better if instead of buying all the components from a single online store I buy them from multiple online stores choosing the best price.

Obviously I did not considered the best price but I considered the best price in stores that have a good reputation and have good reviews ;)

If I buy the individual components from multiple stores I get an even greater savings: 956.45 euros instead of 1042.11.

From the purchase simulation I did today, it was evident that assembling a pc is much cheaper than buying it already complete.

In the coming days I will carefully choose the components I would like to have in my new pc through reading reviews and advice from specialized sites.

When I decide on the components of my new pc I will write another post and do the same when I assemble all the components to show that assembling a pc is not a difficult task ;)

E' tempo di assemblare un un nuovo PC!

La tecnologia fa passi da giganti e corre molto veloce e le attrezzature tecnologiche diventano presto obsolete come il mio desktop Pc che ormai è diventato quasi un "dinosauro" perchè lo utilizzo da più di 10 anni.

Utilizzo il mio desktop PC principalmente per lavorare ma nel tempo libero lo utilizzo per le attività che mi piace fare come pubblicare e interagire su Hive e giocare ai giochi basati su blockchain.

Il mio PC "dinosauro" ha la seguente configurazione:

• CPU: Intel i3-530
• RAM: 6 GB DDR3
• NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1 GB
• SSD: 250 GB
• 3 HDD: 4 Terabyte in totale

Il mio desktop pc è sopravvissuto tanti anni soprattutto grazie all'introduzione nel mercato degli hard disk a stato solido (SSD).
Se non avessi sostituito il mio vecchio hard disk con un veloce SSD avrei al 100% sostituito il mio pc con uno nuovo già diversi anni fa.
In questi 10 anni ho sostituito 4 volte l'alimentatore e ho sostituito una volta anche la pasta termica sulla CPU perchè le temperature della CPU erano diventate troppo alte e causavano lo spegnimento del computer dopo pochi minuti di utilizzo.

Oggi il mio computer mi permette di fare ancora tante cose ma incomincia ad essere lento nel multi-tasking e spesso sono costretto ad utilizzare il mio portatile che ha 4 anni e ha una configurazione migliore (Intel i7 - 12 GB RAM - SSD 500 GB) ma non ha la comodità del mio PC desktop e dei suoi due monitor che puoi vedere nella foto in copertina che ho scattato qualche anno fa mentre mia figlia giocava a Splinterlands.

E' quindi arrivato il momento di assemblare un nuovo PC e oggi ho iniziato a documentarmi e a guardare qualche configurazione di PC già pronti presenti nei negozi online di informatica/elettronica.

Quando è necessario acquistare un nuovo PC la prima decisione da prendere è:

Acquistare un Desktop Computer già pronto o acquistare i vari componenti separati e assemblarlo?

Io so già la risposta ma in questo post procederò per gradi e mostrerò i risultati delle due opzioni.

Io ho un budget di circa 1000 euro e per avere un idea iniziale del computer da assemblare sono andato sul sito di una famosa catena di negozi italiana di elettronica e ho ricercato tra i desktop computers in vendita quelli che avevano la CPU Intel i5-13400F.
Ho già scelto la CPU che vorrei ma devo ancora decidere tutte le altre componenti.

Nella tabella seguente puoi vedere le 4 opzioni di acquisto che il negozio online mi ha proposto quando ho inserito CPU Intel i5-13400F come filtro di ricerca.

La prima difficoltà nell'acquistare un computer online già costruito è che le specifiche delle componenti non sono mai complete.
Ad esempio nella prima opzione di acquisto non è specificato il chipset dalla Mother Board.

Ho scartato le prime due opzioni perchè la terza opzione e la quarta opzione sono migliori delle prime due opzioni secondo me.

Poi sono andato su Amazon è ho scelto le componenti con specifiche uguali o migliori delle due configurazioni presenti nella precedente tabella.

Nella tabella seguente puoi vedere il confronto della configurazione del pc assemblato con le due precedenti opzioni.
Il computer assemblato ha componenti migliori della prima opzione e ha componenti uguali alla seconda opzione e ha un costo totale di 1042.11 euro.

Il risparmio è di:

• -156.89 euro rispetto alla prima opzione
• -656.89 euro rispetto alla seconda opzione

Dalla mia simulazione ho ottenuto un buon risparmio ma posso fare sicuramente meglio se invece di acquistare tutte le componenti da un singolo negozio online le acquisto da più negozi online scegliendo il prezzo migliore.

Ovviamente non ho preso in considerazione il miglior prezzo ma ho preso in considerazione il miglior prezzo nei negozi che hanno una buona reputazione e hanno buone recensioni ;)

Se acquisto le singole componenti da più negozi ottengo un risparmio ancora maggiore: 956.45 euro invece di 1042.11

Dalla simulazione di acquisto che ho fatto oggi è risultato evidente che assemblare un pc è molto più conveniente che acquistarlo già completo.

Nei prossimi giorni sceglierò con attenzione le componenti che vorrei avere nel mio nuovo pc tramite la lettura di recensioni e consigli di siti specializzati.

Una prima idea e configurazione a cui ho pensato è la seguente:

Quando avrò deciso le componenti del mio nuovo pc scriverò un altro post e farò lo stesso quando assemblerò tutte le componenti per mostrare che assemblare un pc non è un'operazione difficile ;)
