How To Swap Hive Engine Tokens to HIVE or HBD quickly and easily with Hive KeyChain v.3.2 - Step by Step Guide
The Hive blockchain has two main tokens, HIVE and HBD and also has many second-level tokens that are also called Hive Engine tokens because they were initially manageable only by Hive Engine.
Today there are so many tools and so many services that allow you to manage and convert Hive Engine tokens to other tokens and among them is Hive Keychain which, in addition to being my favorite tool for interacting on Hive, has implemented a very useful and especially easy to use SWAP functionality.
In today's post I show you how to convert Hive Engine tokens into HIVE and HBD tokens using the Swap functionality of Hive Keychain version 3.2 for desktop users.
If you do not know or do not use Hive Keychain I suggest you install it and start using it.
You can read the step-by-step guide I wrote on March 25, 2024 in which I showed the steps to perform the installation of Hive Keychain as a browser extension and to do the first setup.

How to convert Hive Engine tokens to HBD or HIVE
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Enter into the SWAP section of Hive Keychain.
- Step 1.1: Click on the Hive Keychain icon located in the upper right corner of your Browser window.
- Step 1.2: Click on Swap (bottom right of the main Hive Keychain screen).
Step 2: Select the token pair to be swapped.
- Step 2.1: Click on the down arrow in the first Token input field and select the token you want to convert.
- Step 2.2: In the Amount field, enter the amount of the token you want to convert.
- Step 2.3: Click on the down arrow in the second Token input field and select the token you want to receive as a result of the conversion
Step 3: Select the Slippage in Advanced parameters.
The default Slippage value is 5.
The slippage is the maximum value variation you are willing to accept to perform the SWAP operation.
Step 4: Perform the Swap.
- Step 4.1: click on the Swap.
- Step 4.2: click on Confirm
Operation completed!
When Hive Keychain has completed the SWAP you will see the Swap History screen showing the end result of the SWAP operation.
To show you the steps to convert a quantity of a Hive Engine token to HIVE I converted 666,958 DEC and received 1,449 HIVE.
If in the Swap History screen you click on the red down arrow symbol you can view all the details of the SWAP operation performed.
The HIVE ENGINE tokens -> HBD conversion is identical to the Hive Engine tokens -> HIVE conversion with the only difference that in step 2 you have to select in the second Token field HBD instead of HIVE.
Final Considerations
Hive Keychain has implemented a great Swap feature and more importantly has implemented a feature that was not there before because the conversion of a second level token to HIVE or HBD via a single user-side SWAP operation is absolutely a nice novelty.
The cost to perform a SWAP operation using Hive Keychain is a fee = 0.75%.
With Hive Keychain it is possible to SWAP only if the amount of tokens to be converted has a minimum value = 1 HIVE.
The strength of Hive Keychain's SWAP functionality is the simplicity and time savings for conversion operations that require multiple SWAP operations such as the DEC -> HIVE conversion I showed you in my guide that if done through Hive Engine would have required two operations to be performed:
- 1. selling the DEC tokens in exchange for SWAP.HIVE
- 2. the withdraw (fee: 0.75%) to do the SWAP.HIVE -> HIVE conversion.

La blockchain di Hive ha due token principali, HIVE e HBD e ha anche tanti token di secondo livello che sono chiamati anche Hive Engine token perchè inizialmente erano gestibili solo da Hive Engine.
Oggi ci sono tanti tool e tanti servizi che permettono di gestire e convertire gli Hive Engine token in altri token e tra questi c'è Hive Keychain che, oltre ad essere il mio tool preferito per interagire su Hive, ha implementato una funzionalità di SWAP molto utile e soprattutto semplice da utilizzare.
Nel post di oggi ti mostro come convertire gli Hive Engine tokens nei token HIVE e HBD utilizzando la funzionalità di Swap di Hive Keychain versione 3.2 per utenti desktop.
Se non conosci o non utilizzi Hive Keychain ti consiglio di installarlo e iniziare ad usarlo.

Come Convertire i token di Hive Engine in HBD o in HIVE
Guida Passo Passo
Passo 1: Entra nella sezione SWAP di Hive Keychain.
- Passo 1.1: Clicca sull'icona di Hive Keychain posizionata in alto a destra nella finestra del tuo Browser.
- Passo 1.2: Clicca su Swap (in basso a destra nella schermata principale di Hive Keychain)
Passo 2: Seleziona la coppia di token da swappare.
- Passo 2.1: clicca sulla freccia rivolta verso il basso nel primo campo Token e seleziona il token che vuoi convertire
- Passo 2.2: Nel campo Amount inserisci la quantità del token che vuoi convertire.
- Passo 2.3: clicca sulla freccia rivolta verso il basso nel secondo campo Token e seleziona il token che vuoi ricevere come risultato della conversione
Passo 3: Seleziona lo Slippage in Advanced parameters.
Il valore Slippage di default è 5
Lo slippage è la variazione massima di valore che si è disposti ad accettare per eseguire l'operazione di SWAP.
Passo 4: Esegui lo Swap.
- Passo 4.1: clicca sul Swap
- Passo 4.2: clicca su Confirm
Quando Hive Keychain ha completato lo SWAP visualizzerai la schermata Swap History con l'indicazione del risultato finale dell'operazione di SWAP.
Per mostrarti i passi da effettuare per convertire un quantitativo di un Hive Engine token in HIVE ho convertito 666.958 DEC e ho ricevuto 1.449 HIVE.
Se nella schermata Swap History clicchi sul simbolo della freccia rossa rivolta verso il basso puoi visualizzare tutti i dettagli dell'operazione di SWAP eseguita.
La conversione HIVE ENGINE tokens -> HBD è identica alla conversione Hive Engine tokens -> HIVE con l'unica differenza che nel passo 2 devi selezione nel secondo campo Token HBD invece che HIVE.
Considerazioni Finali
Hive Keychain ha implementato un'ottima funzionalità di Swap e soprattutto ha implementato una funzionalità che non c'era prima perchè la conversione di un token di secondo livello in HIVE o HBD tramite una singola operazione di SWAP lato utente è assolutamente una bella novità.
Il costo da sostenere per effettuare un'operazione di SWAP utilizzando Hive Keychain è una fee = 0.75%.
Con Hive Keychain è possibile effettuare lo SWAP solo se il quantitativo di token da convertire ha un valore minimo = 1 HIVE.
Il punto di forza della funzionalità di SWAP di Hive Keychain è la semplicità e il risparmio di tempo per operazioni di conversione che necessitano di più operazioni di SWAP come la conversione DEC -> HIVE che ti ho mostrato nella mia guida che se effettuata tramite Hive Engine avrebbe richiesto due operazioni da eseguire:
- 1. vendita dei token DEC in cambio di SWAP.HIVE
- 2. il withdraw (fee: 0.75%) per fare la conversione SWAP.HIVE -> HIVE.

It looks like the swap fee is out there but it is a service for people. The 1 Hive limit does sound reasonable too.
Yes the swap fee is 0.75% and in my opinion for swaps involving only Hive Engine tokens it is better to do the various steps manually but for swaps that include various steps and for new users who are unfamiliar with selling and buying tokens the advantage is to save time ;)

Si, secondo me questa funzionalità di swap è la più semplice e utile in particolare per i nuovi utenti perchè è veloce e fa risparmiare tempo soprattutto se si fanno swap tra hive engine tokens e hbd e HIVE.
Per quanto riguarda gli swap tra token di secondo livello conviene però fare da se perchè in questo modo si evitano le fees ;)
