Spliterlands, more than three years after my first game battle, is still my favorite blockchain game, and I am very happy that the Splinterlands ecosystem is booming as I am equally happy that the Hive ecosystem, despite the Bear Market, is constantly evolving and expanding.
There are two games in development that Splinterlands is making in collaboration with other development teams:

• Splinterlands Tower Defense: collaboration between Splinterlands and Double Coconut
• Genesis League Goals: collaboration between Splinterlands and Genesis League Sports

I consider both of these two new projects to be very interesting, so I have participated in the presales of both and have purchased:

• 167 card packs of Tower Defense: I spent 760K DEC + 167 VOUCHERS
• 110 packs of cards of Genesis League Goals: I spent 1020.19 HIVE

Yesterday I published a post on the Genesis League Goals project in which, via step-by-step-guides, I showed:

• how to transfer GLX tokens to another player
• how to transfer GLX tokens from the in-game wallet to the Hive Engine wallet and vice versa

Today I want to provide my readers with more details about staking GLX tokens.
The staking of GLX tokens was enabled a few days ago, on November 9 at 4:00 pm EDT(EST), and, starting the next day, the distribution of GLX token rewards to GLX stakeholders began.

In today's post:

• I will calculate and show the APR of GLX token staking.
• I will share my investment strategy on GLX tokens.

The APR of the Staking of GLX tokens: Calculations and Considerations

The APR is the acronym of Annual Percentage Rate.
The APR is the simple annual percentage rate that is paid to investors.

For example, if I decide to invest $1000 in an investment that has an APR of 20% at the end of the year I will have $1200 = $1000 (initial investment) + $200 (20% of $1000).

In the case of an investment in a liquidity pool or a staking pool the percentage value of the APR is estimated because there are several elements in play and so it can change over time.

For example, the APR of staking GLX tokens will change based on:

• to the total amount of GLX tokens staked
• to the market value of the GLX tokens.

Today I calculated the APR of GLX token staking and to do so I noted:

• the amount of my GLX tokens in staking at a specific time
• the amount of the reward I received after exactly one hour.

At 12:25 this morning I had 629.97 GLX staked.

At 13:25 I received 2,913 GLX and 0.107 GLGT as a reward.

Note: Right now GLGT tokens have no market value and no use cases and for this reason I will not consider them in my calculations today but in the future (starting from presale 2) they will be used to get a discount on the purchase of card packs.

In one hour 629.97 GLX staked allowed me to get 0.46% more GLX tokens.

If in one hour I earned 2.9130 GLX the estimated gain for one day is 69.9120 GLX = 11.10% of 629.97 GLX.

This means that in 10 days I will have more than doubled the amount of GLX tokens in my possession.

Extending the time interval to one year (365 days) the estimated gain is 25517.88 GLX = +4050.65% on the initial amount of 629.97 GLX staked.

4050.65% is just the APR of the staking of GLX tokens today November 12 at 1:25 pm.

However, this value is an estimated value that could change after a minute, an hour, a day, ...

To show that the APR of a staking pool is an estimated and time-varying value I will now calculate the APR in terms of dollars and show how it might change as the market value of GLX tokens changes.

Today 1 GLX token has a value of:

• 0.64900000 SWAP.HIVE = $0.2285797 (Lowest Ask)
• 0.64025000 SWAP.HIVE = $0.2254980 (Highest Bid)

If I calculate the APR of staking GLX tokens today based on the dollar value of GLX tokens (Highest Bid) I obviously get an APR identical to what I calculated earlier: 4050.65%.

But what will happen to the APR if in a month's time the value of GLX tokens turns out to be half of what it is today?

Note: I am assuming for hypothesis and for simplicity of calculation and only for the purpose of the case study that the total amount of GLX tokens in staking remains a fixed value.
An increase in the total amount of staked tokens produces a decrease in the rewards for single staked GLX token and vice versa.

In the case where an investor buys 659.27 GLX tokens today and stacks them but after 30 days the value of GLX tokens becomes half of today's value the estimated annual APR will no longer be 4050.65% but will be half: 2025.33%.

This is because the APR should be calculated on the value of the initial investment at the time of the investment decision, which in the case of the example is $142.05.

The value of GLX tokens will never be a fixed value over time* and as for SPS tokens will fluctuate up or down based on many factors such as based on the use cases it will have in the future or based on the number of players who decide to invest in Genesis League Goals...

I gave this example to show how an APR of a traditional investment is generally a fixed APR because it relates directly to the dollar or euro but is also a generally very low APR (1%-2%).

In staking pools APRs are much higher and they are generally and particularly so the first few days when staking is possible and they are always estimated values and time-varying because they are governed by various dynamics such as the supply and demand of the token that you can put into staking.

Stake or Sell? My strategy on GLX tokens

What to do with the GLX tokens I have received and will receive from daily airdrop and staking?

If the unstaking operation were immediate the choice of strategy to follow for the GLX tokens would be very simple.

I would put all the GLX tokens in staking and as I would notice a downward trend for the market value of the GLX tokens I would proceed to sell the tokens and then buy more of them back later.

This strategy is not feasible because the Unstaking operation is not immediate and requires 7 days.

The possible strategies are different and will always be subjective because they will be influenced by each investor's prediction of the value of the tokens involved and linked to the GLX token.

On the other hand, the current APR of 4050.65% is an APR that I call "monster " and that made me change the strategy I had in mind initially.

Initially I had decided to sell the GLX tokens that I would receive from staking the GLX tokens but when I saw and calculated the APR I changed my mind and put all the GLX tokens in staking right away.

I also believe, however, that the value of GLX tokens after an initial period of increase in value then will decrease as the amount of GLX tokens in circulation increases due to the constant distribution of GLX tokens through the ongoing Airdrop and through staking.

Only from the airdrop destined for SPS Stakeholders will 100 million GLX tokens be distributed in one year.

The **maximum supply is 2 billion GLX tokens.

Based on current conditions:

• APR 4050.65% of GLX token staking.
• value of 1 token GLX = $0.2254980 (Highest Bid)
• value of 1 token SPS = $0.0431397 (Highest Bid)

...I chose a strategy to follow.

My my investment strategy related to GLX tokens will be as follows:
1. I will continue staking all my GLX tokens until I reach an amount of 1000 GLX tokens staked.
2. When I reach the amount of 1000 GLX staked I will sell 50% of the GLX tokens I get daily from airdrop and staking.

3. With the income from the sale of GLX tokens I will purchase SPS tokens.

Increasing the number of SPS tokens will allow me:

• to increase the amount of GLX tokens I will receive from the daily airdrop
• to reach in a shorter time my accumulation goal related to SPS tokens, which is 100K SPS staked.

Final Considerations

Between a full selling strategy and a full staking strategy, I have chosen a "hybrid" strategy.

My strategy may change and will be driven by the market value of the GLX tokens but one way or another my strategy will be based on continuing to invest in the Splinterlands ecosystem and even if I sell some of the GLX tokens I will reinvest the proceeds in other assets in the Splinterlands ecosystem which in the case of GLX tokens are the SPS tokens.

Whether my strategy will be right or wrong I don't know and only time will show but even if it turns out to be wrong I will still have had fun thinking about it and Splinterlands with its many assets (NFTs and tokens) offers so many possible investment strategies to choose from and it is precisely this possibility of choice among multiple strategies that is one of the aspects I like most about Splinterlands.

GLX tokens: Staking o Vendita? Il Calcolo dell'APR e La Mia Strategia

Lo staking dei token GLX è stato abilitato pochi giorni fa, il 9 novembre alle 4:00 pm EDT(EST), e a partire dal giorno successivo è iniziata la distribuzione delle ricompense in token GLX agli GLX stakeholders.

L'APR dello Staking dei token GLX: Calcoli e Considerazioni

L'APR è l'acronimo di Annual Percentage Rate.
L'APR è il tasso annuale percentuale semplice che viene pagato agli investitori.

Se ad esempio decido di investire 1000$ in un investimento che ha un APR del 20% alla fine dell'anno avrò 1200$ = 1000$ (investimento iniziale) + 200$ (20% di 1000$).

Nel caso di un investimento in una liquidity pool o in una staking pool il valore percentuale dell'APR è stimato perchè ci sono diversi elementi in gioco e quindi può cambiare con il passare del tempo.

Ad esempio l'APR dello staking dei token GLX cambierà in base:

• al quantitativo totale dei token GLX messi in stake
• al valore di mercato dei token GLX

Oggi ho calcolato l'APR dello staking dei token GLX e per farlo ho annotato:

• il quantitativo dei mie token GLX in staking ad un preciso orario
• il quantitativo della ricompensa che ho ricevuto dopo esattamente un'ora.

Alle 12:25 di questa mattina avevo 629.97 GLX staked

Alle 13:25 ho ricevuto come ricompensa 2.913 GLX e 0.107 GLGT

Nota: In questo momento i token GLGT non hanno un valore di mercato e non hanno casi d'uso e per questo motivo non li considererò oggi nei miei calcoli ma in futuro (a partire dalla presale 2) serviranno per avere uno sconto sull'acquisto dei pacchi di carte.

In un'ora 629.97 GLX staked mi hanno permesso di ottenere lo 0.46% di token GLX in più.

Se in un ora ho guadagnato 2.9130 GLX il guadagno stimato di un giorno è di 69.9120 GLX = 11.10% di 629.97 GLX.

Questo vuol dire che in 10 giorni avrò più che raddoppiato il quantitativo di token GLX in mio possesso.

Allargando l'intervallo di tempo ad un anno (365 giorni) il guadagno stimato è di 25517.88 GLX = +4050.65% sul quantitativo iniziale di 629.97 GLX staked.

4050.65% è proprio l'APR dello staking dei token GLX di oggi 12 novembre alle ore 13:25.

Questo valore è però un valore stimato che potrebbe cambiare dopo un minuto, un ora, un giorno, ...

Per mostrare che l'APR di una staking pool è un valore stimato e variabile nel tempo adesso calcolerò l'APR in termini di dollari e mostrerò come potrebbe cambiare con il cambiare del valore di mercato dei token GLX.

Oggi 1 token GLX ha un valore di:

• 0.64900000 SWAP.HIVE = $0.2285797 (Lowest Ask)
• 0.64025000 SWAP.HIVE = $0.2254980 (Highest Bid)

Se calcolo oggi l'APR dello staking dei token GLX in base al valore in dollari dei token GLX (Highest Bid) ottengo ovviamente un APR identico a quello che ho calcolato prima: 4050.65%.

Ma cosa succederà all'APR se fra un mese il valore dei token GLX risulterà dimezzato rispetto ad oggi?

Nota: assumo per ipotesi e per semplicità di calcolo e solo ai fini del caso di studio che il quantitativo totale di token GLX in staking rimane un valore fisso.
Un aumento del quantitativo totale di token staked produce una diminuizione delle ricompense per token GLX staked e viceversa.

Nel caso in cui un investitore acquista oggi 659.27 GLX e li mette in stake ma dopo 30 giorni il valore dei token GLX diventa la metà rispetto al valore di oggi l'APR stimato annuale non sarà più 4050.65% ma sarà la metà: 2025.33%.

Questo perchè l'APR va calcolato sul valore dell'investimento iniziale al momento della decisione di investire che nel caso dell'esempio è di 142.05$.
Il valore dei token GLX non sarà mai un valore fisso nel tempo e come per i token SPS oscillerà verso l'alto o verso il basso in base a tanti fattori come ad esempio in base ai casi d'uso che avrà in futuro oppure in base al numero di giocatori che decideranno di investire in Genesis League Goals...

Ho fatto questo esempio per mostrare come un APR di un investimento tradizionale è in genere un APR fisso perchè rapportato direttamente al dollaro o all'euro ma è anche un APR generalmente molto basso (1%-2%).

Nelle staking pools gli APR sono molto più alti e lo sono generalmente e in particolare i primi giorni in cui è possibile effettuare lo staking e sono sempre valori stimati e variabili nel tempo perchè governati da varie dinamiche come ad esempio dalla domanda e dall'offerta del token che è possibile mettere in staking.

Stake or Sell? La mia strategia sui token GLX

Cosa fare con i token GLX che riceverò dall'airdrop giornaliero e dallo staking?

Se l'operazione di unstaking fosse immediata la scelta della strategia da seguire per i token GLX sarebbe molto semplice.

Metterei tutti i token GLX in staking e come noterei una tendenza al ribasso per il valore di mercato dei token GLX procederei alla vendita dei token per poi ricomprarne un numero maggiore in seguito.

Questa strategia non è attuabile perchè l'operazione di Unstaking non è immediata e richiede 7 giorni.

Le strategie possibili sono diverse e saranno sempre soggettive perchè saranno influenzate dalla previsione che ogni investitore farà sul valore dei token coinvolti e collegati al token GLX.

D'altra parte l'APR attuale del 4050.65% è un APR che io definisco "monster" e che mi ha fatto modificare la strategia che avevo in mente inizialmente.

Inizialmente avevo deciso di vendere i token GLX che avrei ricevuto dallo staking dei token GLX ma quando ho visto e calcolato l'APR ho cambiato idea e ho messo subito tutti i token GLX in staking.

Credo anche però che il valore dei token GLX dopo un primo periodo di aumento di valore poi diminuirà con l'aumentare del quantitativo di token GLX in circolazione per effetto della costante distribuzione dei token GLX tramite l'Airdrop in corso e tramite lo staking.

Solo dall'airdrop destinato agli SPS Stakeholder saranno distribuiti 100 milioni di token GLX in un anno.

La supply massima è di 2 miliardi di token GLX

In base alle condizioni attuali:

• APR 4050.65% dello staking dei token GLX
• valore di 1 token GLX = $0.2254980 (Highest Bid)
• valore di 1 token SPS = $0.0431397 (Highest Bid)

...ho scelto una strategia da seguire.

La mia strategia di investimento relativa ai token GLX sarà la seguente:
1. Continuerò a mettere tutti i miei token GLX in staking fino a raggiungere un quantitativo di 1000 token GLX staked.
2. Quando raggiungerò il quantitativo di 1000 GLX staked venderò il 50% dei token GLX che otterrò giornalmente dall'airdrop e dallo staking.
3. Con il ricavato della vendita dei token GLX acquisterò i token SPS.

Aumentare il numero di token SPS mi permetterà:

• di aumentare il quantitativo di token GLX che riceverò dall'airdrop giornaliero
• di raggiungere in un tempo minore il mio obiettivo di accumulo relativo ai token SPS che è di 100K SPS staked.

Considerazioni Finali

Tra una strategia full selling e una strategia full staking ho scelto una strategia "ibrida".

La mia strategia potrà cambiare e sarà guidata dal valore di mercato dei token GLX ma in un modo o nell'altro la mia strategia attuale si basa sul continuare ad investire nell'ecosistema di Splinterlands e anche se venderò parte dei token GLX reinvestirò il ricavato in altri assets dell'ecosistema di Splinterlands che nel caso di questo post sono i token SPS.

Se la mia strategia sarà giusta o sbagliata non lo so e solo il tempo potrà mostrarlo ma anche se si dovesse rivelare sbagliata mi sarò comunque divertito a pensarla e Splinterlands con i suoi tanti assets (NFTs e tokens) offre tante possibili strategie di investimento tra cui scegliere e proprio questa possibilità di scelta tra molteplici strategie è uno degli aspetti che più mi piace di Splinterlands.
