I have been a Splinterlands player for more than three years and today Splinterlands is still my favorite blockchain game.
In more than three years I have never lost the desire to play and have always enjoyed posting Splinterlands related content on my Hive blog.
Today, out of curiosity, I looked up on Peakd the number of posts with the tag splinterlands that I have published to date: 307 posts.
This post today is therefore my Splinterlands post number 308.

Since I have been a Splinterlands player I have often received questions and requests for help in the comments to my posts or on Discord and especially from new players.

Two of the questions I have received most frequently so far have been:

What cards do you recommend I buy?
Which cards are most useful for winning battles?

There is no single and immediate answer to these questions because the choice of cards to buy depends on several variables such as:

• the economic budget available to you
• the game objective (league) you want to achieve
• the type of game that you regularly play (Ranked Battles, Tournaments, Brawls).

I personally have always tried to acquire cards useful in battle but even in this case it is not always possible to determine absolutely or quantify in any way the utility in battle of a card because again there are so many variables in play.

The utility in battle of a card depends on and varies based:

• to the level of the card
• to the game statistics (Mana, Attack, Speed, Life) that improve with increasing level
• to the level and abilities of the summoner card** with which it is used
• to the abilities that can be unlocked from a specific level
• to the abilities of the friendly cards with which it is used (Combos)
• to the battle rules that make each battle different from any other
• to the statistics and abilities of the opponent's cards.

So a useful card for me playing in Gold/Diamond leagues might be not useful for a player playing in Champion or Silver leagues.

Cheap Cards but useful in battle

Today I decided to start writing the first of a series of posts on a set of Splinterlands cards that I call "cheap but useful in battle."
Cards that in my opinion are both cheap and useful in battle must have the following characteristics:

• a cost per single card of less than $0.2 (Low Buy)
• a cost per BCX of less than $0.2
• a cost to take the card to the maximum level less than or equal to $10
• play well in multiple situations (battle rules).
• can be useful for getting more Reward Points because they can be used in more Daily Focuses

Each of my posts in the "cheap but useful in battle" series will have a single card as its topic, and in each post:

• I will explain why I chose that card.
• I will purchase the card and/or upgrade it to the highest level and share my choice of purchase method
• I will show one or more battles in which I used the purchased or upgraded card.

Also in choosing cards that are inexpensive but useful in battle I will proceed by element.
The element I decided to start is the Dragon element and the protagonist of this post is the Dhampir Infiltrator card.

Dhampir Infiltrator

Dhampir Infiltrator is a rare card from the Chaos Legion Rewards edition, it cannot be found within Chaos Legion packs but can be found within chests or can be purchased from the marketplace and is available in two versions: Regular and Gold.
The starting level of the Gold version is the second level while the maximum level of the Regular version is the eighth level.

In the following image you can see the game statistics and abilities of Dhampir Infiltrator for each level.

Dhanpir Infiltrator has two strengths:

• it has a low mana cost: 4 points.
• has very good abilities: Sneak, Double Strike, Cripple and Affliction.

Dhanpir Infiltrator also has one weakness:

• it has low life points:
  • min. 2 (level 1)
  • max. 4 (levels: 6-7-8)

Market Value and Levels

Among the Dragon element cards, Dhanpir Infiltrator is one of the cheapest cards of the Dragon element.
It is ranks third for lowest cost per BCX (https://peakmonsters.com/market).

Today, September 29, 2022, buying a single Dhanpir Infiltrator card (level 1) has a cost of $0.035 (Low Buy).
To see the cost per level of a Splinterlands card, I use the Buy section of Peakmonsters which has many useful filters for quick targeted searches and has a very useful tool called Bulk Buy (View Mode: LIST).

To have a Dhanpir Infiltrator card of the highest level (level 8) in your collection, you need to spend $3,945 with a cost per BCX of $0.034.

Dhanpir Infiltrator is a cheap card but is it also a useful card in battle?

Let's find out together ;)

Battle utility evaluation (league by league)

To get a compact view of a Splinterlands card's playing stats based on the maximum usable level in a game league I like to use the Cards by League Cap tool at https://www.splintercards.com/tool-cards-league-cap.html

In the image below you can see the maximum level of the Dhanpir Infiltrator card that you can use in each Splinterlands league (Novice, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond+).

Novice and Bronze leagues

Already for those who play in the Bronze and Novice leagues, Dhanpir Infiltrator can be a useful card in battle because even though it has only one point of attack the Double Strike ability allows it to double its attack because Dhanpir Infiltrator will attack twice in each round of the game battle.

Dhanpir Infiltrator also has the Sneak ability and will therefore attack the enemy monster in the last position unless there is an enemy monster with the Taunt skill.

Unfavorable conditions for using Dhampir Infiltrator

Having only one point of attack could be a problem if the opponent has placed a card with the Shield ability such as Lobstradamus or Naga Fire Wizard in the last position because in this case even if Dhanpir Infiltrator attacks twice its attack will basically always be null.

The low life points (max=3) make Dhanpir Infiltrator a fragile card that needs to be protected by placing it in central positions.
Dhanpir Infiltrator of level 1-2 even if placed correctly could still be easily eliminated during the early rounds of the game if the opponent fields cards with the Opportunity ability such as Deeplurker and Dragon Jumper.

Dhampir Infiltrator also becomes very fragile when attacking cards that have the Thorns ability.
For this reason, deploying Dhampir Infiltrator in a battle against an opponent who frequently uses the Mylor Crowling summoner is almost always a wrong choice.

Due to low life points, it is inadvisable to use Dhanpir Infiltrator in battles that have the NOXIOUS FUMES, EARTHQUAKE and EQUAL OPPORTUNITY rules because Dhanpir Infiltrator will most probably be eliminated during the first few rounds of the battle.

Conditions favorable to using Dhampir Infiltrator

The very favorable battle rules for Dhanpir Infiltrator of level 1-2 are Equalizer, Little League and Armored Up.

Particularly when the battle rule is equalizer Dhampir Infiltrator becomes much less fragile because it has a high probability of increasing the number of life points.

Silver League

Those who play in silver leagues can use Dhanpir Infiltrator of level 4.
The same considerations made for Dhampir Infiltrator of level 2 apply with the difference that from level 4 Dhampir Infiltrator increases its usefulness in battle because it increases the number of attack points (1-->2).

His two attack points basically become 4 thanks to the Double Strake ability and choosing Dhanpir Infiltrator becomes an increasingly easy choice to make and especially in New Format battles and when the battle rule is Little League because the range of cards to choose from is much smaller than in Wild Format.

Gold League

Those who play in gold leagues can use Dhanpir Infiltrator at level 6.
Dhanpir Infiltrator of level 6 increases its life points by 1 unit (3-->4) compared to the maximum level that can be used in silver leagues but it remains a fragile card and therefore to be protected by placing it in central positions or using a card with the Taunt ability to prevent cards with the Opportunity ability from targeting it.

Its usefulness in battle is increased by acquiring the Cripple ability, which is a particularly useful ability because it reduces the effects of the Heal and Tank Heal abilities on the card hit by Dhampir Infiltrator.

Diamond+ Leagues

In Diamond and Champion leagues, Dhanpir Infiltrator of maximum level (8) can be used.
Life points remain the same compared to level 6 but speed increases and reaches a score of 4 points and consequently the chances of dodging an attack also increase.

Acquiring the Affliction ability increases the battle utility of Dhanpir Infiltrator who will have a 50% chance per attack to prevent the card she attacked from healing itself.
This ability is especially useful if the opponent fields cards in last position that have the Heal ability or if he fields cards with the Triage ability because this ability could heal the opponent's card in last position which is precisely the card attacked by Dhanpir Infiltrator by default.

Combos: More power to Dhanpir Infiltrator

There are card combinations that allow you to increase the battle utility of Dhanpir Infiltrator.

To use Dhanpir Infiltrator in battle, it is necessary to have a Dragon type summoner.

The summoners that allow to increase the attack points of Dhanpir Infiltrator are:

• Daria Dragonscale (usable only in Wild Format).
• Archmage Arius (usable only in the Wild Format).

The cards that can increase Dhanpir Infiltrator's attack points are the cards that have the Inspire ability:

• Chaos Knight - level 9
• Demented Shark - level 1
• Orc Sergeant - level 6
• Silvershield Knight - level 1
• Pirate Captain - level 6
• Tusk the Wide - level 8
• Beetle Queen - level 8
• Evangelist - level 4
• Enchanted Pixie - level 5
• Shadowy Presence - level 4
• Ferexia General - level 4
• Brownie - level 4
• River Hellondale - level 2
• Angel of Light - level 4

Final Evaluation

Out of a total of 33 rulesets only 3 are particularly unfavorable to the use of Dhanpir Infiltrator, only 3 are particularly advantageous and three impede its use in battle.
Among the remaining 24 rulesets there are some that are more advantageous and some that are less so for the use in battle of Dhampir Infiltrator but in all of them it can be used without any particular drawbacks.

This is the first reason indicating that Dhanpir Infiltrator in addition to being a cheap card is also a useful card in battle because it can be used in many battles and thus with good frequency of use.

The second reason is related to the number of abilities that Dhanpir Infiltrator has due to which Dhanpir Infiltrator can be useful in gaining more Reward Points in completing daily focuses.

In fact 3 abilities of Dhanpir Infiltrator are part of the list of 3 ability based daily focuses:

• Stealth: Sneak, Snipe, Opportunity.
• Allments: Poison, Affliction, Weaken
• Nullify: Shatter, Cripple, Dispel

From the evaluations I have made and shown in this post, Dhampir Infiltrator is an inexpensive card that is also useful in battle and therefore has passed my personal evaluation test and I can now proceed to immediately purchase the number of cards I need to bring Dhampir Infiltrator up to maximum level.

In my card collection I have:

• 1 level 3 Dhampir Infiltrator card (14 BCX)
• 1 Dhampir Infiltrator card of level 1 (1 BCX).

To get the level 8 Dhampir Infiltrator card I have to purchase 100 BCX.

Considering the low purchase price, I decided to buy 100 BCX right away, and to make the purchase I used the https://monstermarket.io/ marketplace, which allows me to have a cashback of 141,898 DECs on a total expenditure of 4729,922 DECs.

After the purchase I immediately wanted to test the battle utility of Dhampir Infiltrator level 8.

Two battles with Dhampir Infiltrator

I have used Dhampir Infiltrator in several battles but have selected two interesting battles to share in this post.

First Battle with unfavorable Ruleset for Dhampir Infiltrator: Noxious Fumes

---

In the first battle I deliberately deployed Dhampir Infiltrator in an unfavorable ruleset.
In fact, when the battle rule is Noxious Fumes the Dhampir Infiltrator card, if not aided by friendly card abilities, will only be able to stay in play at best two turns.

A difficult battle because my opponent chose to use the combination Scarred llama Mage + Kron The Undying + Cornealus which is a combination that plays very well when the battle rule is Noxious Fumes.

I deployed Daria Dragonscale to increase the attack of my melee attack cards including Dhampir Infiltrator.
To be more probable to resist the negative effects of the Noxious Fumes ruleset, I deployed two cards with the Heal ability: Gold Dragon and Gelatinous Cube.

Link Battle

The most interesting part of the battle was the chance to see the battle utility of Dhampir Infiltrator against a very strong and expensive card: Kron The Undying.
Despite the Noxious Fumers ruleset Dhampir Infiltrator alone contributes to the elimination of Kron The Undying which once it is affected by the Affliction ability becomes a very weak card and easy to eliminate because it cannot heal itself (Heal ability disabled by the Affliction ability)

In fact, with only one life point Kron The Undying dies early in the third round due to Ruleset Noxious Fumes while my Dhampir Infiltrator endures another round thanks to the intervention of Queen Mycelia's triage ability.

Dhampir Infiltrator is eliminated early in round 4 and I lose the battle but with honor because I am defeated only in round 29 and it is Fatigue that decides the battle.

Despite the defeat, the battle showed the usefulness in battle of Dhampir Infiltrator because it was able to eliminate level 2 Kron the Unduying in an unfavorable condition (Noxious Fumes).
A card worth just over $3 eliminated a card worth $345 and that is the beauty of Splinterlands.

Second Battle with Ruleset favorable to Dhampir Infiltrator: Equalizer.

---

The Equalizer ruleset is one of the rulesets favorable to using Dhampir Infiltrator because it eliminates the weakness of Dhampir Infiltrator which is the reduced number of life points.

The battle below also has a reduced number of available mana (18), and when there is little mana available using cards with a low mana cost like Dhampir Infiltrator is often more useful than using a few cards that are strong but cost a lot in mana.

My opponent fields two very strong cards with magic attack-Ruler of the Sea and Doctor Blight-and uses a summoner that boosts magic attack by one unit (Alric Stormbringher).

Link Battaglia

In this type of battle, the usefulness of Dhampir Infiltrator is obvious because it subtracts 24 life points from my opponent's cards and ends the battle still alive.

Economica ma utile in battaglia: Focus su Dhampir Infiltrator

Sono un giocatore di Splinterlands da più di tre anni e in questo intervallo di tempo mi sono sempre divertito a giocare e a pubblicare contenuti inerenti a Splinterlands sul mio Hive blog.

Da quando sono un giocatore di Splinterlands ho spesso ricevuto domande e richieste di aiuto nei commenti ai miei post o su Discord soprattutto da parte di nuovi giocatori.

Due delle domande che ho ricevuto con maggiore frequenza sono state fino ad ora:

Quali carte mi consigli di acquistare?
Quali carte sono più utili per vincere le battaglie?

Una risposta unica e immediata a queste domande non c'è perchè ci sono diverse variabili da considerare come:

• il budget economico a disposizione
• l'obiettivo di gioco
• la tipologia di gioco (Ranked Battles, Tournaments, Brawls).

Io personalmente ho sempre cercato di acquistare carte che reputo utili in battaglia.

L'utilità in battaglia di una carta dipende e varia in base:

• al livello della carta
• alle statistiche di gioco che migliorano con l'aumentare del livello (Mana, Attack, Velocità, Vita)
• al livello e alle abilità della carta evocatore con cui viene utilizzata
• alle abilità sbloccabili a partire da un determinato livello
• alle abilità delle carte amiche con cui viene utilizzata (Combos)
• alle regole di battaglia che rendono ogni battaglia diversa da ogni altra
• alle statistiche e alle abilità delle carte dell'avversario

Quindi una carta utile per me che gioco nelle leghe Gold/Diamond potrebbe essere poco utile per un giocatore che gioca nelle leghe Champion o nelle leghe Silver.

Cheap Cards but useful in battle

Oggi ho deciso di iniziare a scrivere il primo di una serie di posts su un insieme di carte di Splinterlands che io definisco "economiche ma utili in battaglia".
Le carte che per me sono allo stesso tempo economiche e utili in battaglia devono avere le seguenti caratteristiche:

• un costo per singola carta inferiore a 0.2$ (Low Buy)
• un costo per BCX inferiore a 0.2$
• un costo per portare la carta al massimo livello inferiore o uguale a 10$
• giocano bene in più situazioni (battle rules)
• possono essere utili per ottenere un maggior numero di Reward Points perchè utilizzabili in più Daily Focuses

Ogni mio post della serie "economiche ma utili in battaglia" avrà come argomento una singola carta e in ogni post:

• spiegherò i motivi per cui ho scelto quella carta
• acquisterò e/o potenzierò la carta selezionata al massimo livello
• mostrerò una o più battaglie in cui ho utilizzato la carta.

Dhampir Infiltrator

Dhampir Infiltrator è una carta rara dell'edizione Chaos Legion Rewards ed è disponibile in due versioni: Regular e Gold.

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere le statistiche di gioco e le abilità di Dhampir Infiltrator per ogni livello.

Dhanpir Infiltrator ha due punti di forza:

• ha un costo in mana basso: 4 punti
• ha ottime abilità: Sneak, Double Strike, Cripple e Affliction.

Dhanpir Infiltrator ha anche un punto di debolezza:

• ha un basso numero di punti vita: min.2 - max 4

Valore di Mercato e Livelli

Dhanpir Infiltrator è una delle carte più economiche dell'elemento Dragone e infatti è in terza posizione per minore costo per BCX (fonte https://peakmonsters.com/market).

Oggi 29 settembre 2022 Dhanpir Infiltrator (livello 1) ha un costo di
0.035$.
Per vedere il costo per livello di una carta di Splinterlands utilizzo la sezione Buy di Peakmonsters che ha un utilissimo strumento: il Bulk Buy (View Mode: LIST).

Una carta Dhanpir Infiltrator di massimo livello (livello 8) costa 3.945$ (costo per BCX: 0.034$).

Dhanpir Infiltrator è una carta economica ma è anche una carta utile in battaglia?

Novice and Bronze leagues

Nella lega Bronze è possibile utilizzare Dhanpir Infiltrator di livello 2 mentre nella lega Novice il massimo livello utilizzabile è il primo.
Un solo punto di attacco non è molto ma l'abilità Double Strike permette di raddoppiare questo punteggio.

Condizioni sfavorevoli all'utilizzo di Dhampir Infiltrator

---

Avere un solo punto di attacco potrebbe essere un problema se l'avversario ha messo in ultima posizione una carta con l'abilità Shield come ad esempio Lobstradamus o Naga Fire Wizard perchè anche se Dhanpir Infiltrator attaccherà due volte il suo attacco sarà in pratica sempre nullo.

3 punti vita rendono Dhanpir Infiltrator una carta fragile che va protetta e posizionata nelle posizioni centrali.
Se l'avversario schiera carte con l'abilità Opportunity come ad esempio Deeplurker e Dragon Jumper le probabilità di sopravvivenza di Dhampir Infiltrator diminuiscono.

Dhampir Infiltrator diventa molto fragile anche quando attacca carte che hanno l'abilità Thorns.
Per questo motivo schierare Dhampir Infiltrator in una battaglia contro un avversario che usa spesso l'evocatore Mylor Crowling è quasi sempre una scelta sbagliata.

Sempre a causa dei pochi punti vita è sconsigliabile utilizzare Dhanpir Infiltrator nelle battaglie che hanno le regole NOXIOUS FUMES, EARTHQUAKE e EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.

Condizioni favorevoli all'utilizzo di Dhampir Infiltrator

Le regole di battaglia molto favorevoli a Dhanpir Infiltrator di livello 1-2 sono invece Equalizer, Little League e Armored Up.

In particolare quando la regola di battaglia è equalizer Dhampir Infiltrator diventa molto meno fragile perchè ha un'alta probabilità di aumentare il numero dei punti vita.

Silver League

---

Per Dhanpir Infiltrator di livello 4 valgono le stesse considerazioni fatte per Dhampir Infiltrator di livello 2 con la differenza che a partire dal livello 4 Dhampir Infiltrator aumenta la sua utilità in battaglia perchè aumenta il numero di punti di attacco (1-->2).

I suoi due punti di attacco diventano in pratica 4 grazie all'abilità Double Strike e scegliere Dhanpir Infiltrator diventa una scelta sempre più facile da fare.

Gold League

---

Chi gioca nelle leghe gold può utilizzare Dhanpir Infiltrator di livello 6.
Dhanpir Infiltrator di livello 6 aumenta i suoi punti vita di 1 unità (3-->4) rispetto al livello 4 ma rimane una carta comunque fragile e quindi da proteggere.

L'utilità in battaglia aumenta ancora grazie all'acquisizione dell'abilità Cripple che è un'abilità particolarmente utile perchè riduce gli effetti delle abilità Heal e Tank Heal sulla carta colpita da Dhampir Infiltrator.

Diamond+ Leagues

---

Nelle leghe Diamond e Champion può essere utilizzata Dhanpir Infiltrator di massimo livello (8).
Stessi punti vita del livello 6 ma la velocità aumenta e raggiunge un punteggio di 4 punti.

L'acquisizione dell'abilità Affliction aumenta ancora l'utilità in battaglia perchè Dhampir Infiltrator avrà una chance del 50% per ogni attacco di impedire alla carta da lei attaccata di curarsi.
Questa abilità è particolarmente utile se l'avversario schiera carte in ultima posizione che hanno l'abilità Heal oppure se schiera carte con l'abilità Triage perchè questa abilità potrebbe curare la carta avversaria in ultima posizione.

Combos: More power to Dhanpir Infiltrator

Ci sono delle combinazioni di carte che permettono di aumentare l'utilità in battaglia di Dhanpir Infiltrator e soprattuto il suo attacco.

Per utilizzare Dhanpir Infiltrator in battaglia è necessario avere un evocatore di tipo Dragone.

Gli evocatori che permettono di aumentare i punti di attacco di Dhanpir Infiltrator sono:

• Daria Dragonscale (utilizzabile solo nel Wild Format)
• Archmage Arius (utilizzabile solo nel Wild Format)

Le carte che possono aumentare i punti di attacco di Dhanpir Infiltrator sono le carte che hanno l'abilità Inspire:

• Chaos Knight - livello 9

• Orc Sergeant - livello 6
• Silvershield Knight - livello 1

Valutazione Finale

Su un totale di 33 Rulesets solo 3 sono particolarmente sfavorevoli all'utilizzo di Dhanpir Infiltrator, solo 3 sono particolarmente vantaggiose e tre impediscono il suo utilizzo in battaglia.
Tra le restanti 24 rulesets ci sono alcune più vantaggiose e altre meno per l'utilizzo in battaglia di Dhampir Infiltrator ma in tutte può essere utilizzata senza particolari controindicazioni.

Questo è un ulteriore motivo che indica che Dhanpir Infiltrator oltre ad essere una carta economica è anche una carta utile in battaglia perchè può essere utilizzata in molte battaglie e quindi con una buona frequenza di utilizzo.

Un ulteriore motivo è legato al numero di abilità che ha Dhanpir Infiltrator grazie alle quali Dhanpir Infiltrator può essere utile per ottenere un numero maggiore di Reward Points nel completamento delle daily focus.

Infatti 3 abilità di Dhanpir Infiltrator fanno parte della lista di 3 ability based daily focuses:

Dalle valutazioni che ho fatto e mostrato in questo post mi sento di poter affermare che Dhampir Infiltrator è una carta economica e allo stesso tempo utile in battaglia e quindi ha superato il mio personale test di valutazione e adesso posso procedere all'acquisto.

Nella mia collezione di carte ho 15 BCX e per avere la carta Dhampir Infiltrator di livello 8 devo acquistare 100 BCX.

Ho deciso di acquistare subito 100 BCX e ho utilizzato il market di https://monstermarket.io/ per avere un cashback di 141.898 DEC.

Prima Battaglia con Ruleset sfavorevole per Dhampir Infiltrator: Noxious Fumes

Nella prima battaglia ho volutamente schierato Dhampir Infiltrator in una condizione sfavorevole: Noxious Fumes.

Inoltre la combinazione Scarred llama Mage + Kron The Undying + Cornealus è difficile da sconfiggere soprattutto quando la regola di battaglia è Noxious Fumes.

La parte più interessante della battaglia è stato vedere come Dhampir Infiltrator è stata la "spina nel fianco" di Kron The Undying.
Quando Kron The Undying ha subito l'effetto dell'abilità Affliction è diventata una carta molto debole e facile da eliminare perchè non poteva più curarsi.

Strano ma vero ma Dhampir Infiltrator resiste un round in più di Kron.

Alla fine ho perso la battaglia ma sono stato sconfitto solo al round 29.

Nonostante la sconfitta la battaglia ha mostrato l'utilità di Dhampir Infiltrator perchè è stata capace di eliminare Kron the Unduying di livello 2 in una condizione sfavorevole (Noxious Fumes).
Una carta del valore di poco più di 3$ ha eliminato una carta del valore di 345$ e questo è il bello di Splinterlands.

Seconda Battaglia con Ruleset favorevole a Dhampir Infiltrator: Equalizer

La ruleset Equalizer è una delle ruleset favorevoli all'utilizzo di Dhampir Infiltrator perchè elimina il punto debole di Dhampir Infiltrator che è il numero di punti vita ridotto.

Il mio avversario schiera due carte molto forti con attacco magico: Ruler of the Sea e Doctor Blight e utilizza un evocatore che potenzia di un'unità l'attacco magico (Alric Stormbringher).
Io invece punto su 5 carte con attacco da mischia che hanno una buona velocità e utilizzo Daria Dragonscale per aumentare l'attacco da mischia di un'unità.

In questa tipologia di battaglia l'utilità di Dhampir Infiltrator è evidente perchè ha sottratto 24 punti vita alle carte del mio avversario e termina la battaglia ancora in vita.
