Facing Rejection.

Rejection is something that we must at one point or the other experience. Some might not be outright rejection while some other will be so direct and targeted at us.
Rejection can come in different forms and can be very frustrating and depressing if not properly handled.

Well I have had my share as well, in fact I don't think I can stop facing my kind of rejection. Don't forget I said it varies, my experience seems to be kinda unique. I will be sharing with you my experience along this line. Kindly tag along...

My experience..

I was in school during my undergraduate days when I experienced my share of rejection but can I ask a question? Why would one face serious rejection and persecution for what is right. I experienced both at the same time.

It was such an unpleasant experience for me. When all these happened, it was as though the ground should just open so I could jump in and hide my face and then resurface again when everything is over but you know what, am super proud of myself to have faced the whole situation with a bold face.

It was our usual period of examination and then the usual examination freight set in. Student are usually very afraid of this period, some even fall sick during this period all because they weren't confidence enough to face it. Many who think they are smart start setting up team mates for collaboration during exam while some others already made their mind to bring in external materials into the exam hall.

All these weren't my thing, am this kind of person that loves to do my work myself, I believe in studying to pass and as such I appreciate group study, interaction, classes and question from people before exam, I also take my time to interact and ask question before exam and so I do not talk during exam neither do I cheat or bring in extra material. I do what I understand and leave the hall.

On this fateful day, we had one exam like that and then we were all sitted in the hall, and as my usual custom is, I went mute even as we began, we had not gone half way into the time allotted for the exam, a guy had started calling and disturbing me seriously and won't let me concentrate.

I thought the rule states that we shouldn't talk or share ideas during exam nor practice anything that looked like malpractices. Well it seems the society has created another standard which negates the standard rules of examination.

This singular act of mine became my undoing, I faced serious rejection for doing what was right academic wise but in the sight of the society it was wrong. The guy even had the effontary to challenge my actions after the exam. He started point me to others of his kind and started saying all manner of things concerning me and my kind who decided to stand for what is right.

Today many of us accuse those corrupt folks up there but then we forget that these corrupt practices didn't just start a day, it started form little compromise such as cheating in the examination hall. If out society must be upright with impeccable values then it must start with us.

Let encourage true labour and not shortcuts, just like the way POB (proof for brain) is encouraged here and plagiarism frowned at...it should be the same even in our institution of learning, this sounds hard right? Smile. I know but every great achievement started small at some point.

The long and short is that I ignored all those talk and did what I felt was right all through the period of examination. It was such a trying period for me and I hated the feeling, I was even tempted to give in at some point but then I chose to remain resolute and stand for what I believe is right without any apology.

The answer to your question is so that you can be purged into a better man. I have faced many of this kind of trial in school too but I got used to it along the way and it doesn't use to register anymore to me when it comes, in fact they got so acquaintanted with my way that they stopped sitting close to me during examinations.

It is thesame people who want good that are still sponsoring evil and complaining about how that things are not getting better.

Your response to the guy's action is perfect, ignoring such a person and the talks that might come forth from any other person is the best thing. There is honor in standing alone for what is right. I know you felt bad for not helping the guy, that is the work of human sympathy, Incase no one had told you this before, let me be the first to tell you; you did right, don't ever feel bad for doing what is supposed but always apply wisdom. I am glad you moved on

Wao! It feels good to know that am not alone here, trust me it wasn't easy standing alone for what I felt was the right thing to do but then I still had to do it anyways, if the change and transformation we desire must start, then it should start with us. We should be the agent of change and high moral values in the society. Thanks for interacting with my post.
