Tried the in trend food now in the Philippines, PARES; cause it should be served in a pair!
These past months Pares has been an online sensation on the internet. This started from a seller with a screen name of Diwata who was featured by a certain vlogger. His story of resilience, hard work just to put up his business easily caught the public attention. Ended up receiving different gifts from celebrities, vloggers and featured in local news.
Not only that, but there are some who also decided to try their luck in selling PARES. Yet before anything else, others might not familiar so here is a short description;
What is PARES?
To start with pares, the Tagalog term means PAIR, soup and rice. It is a Filipino food , beef stew with a lot of garlic, and serves the best of garlic rice. Oftentimes, you will find it sold beside the road in a food kiosk. Placed in a plastic bowl and customers are lining up, some are eating while standing. It can be considered as comfort food not only during rainy seasons but even those who have a long day at work. Not to mention it was affordable. Source
Days ago while talking to the husband he mentioned that there is a newly opened pares house in the neighborhood. Might I wanted to try. Honestly, I only tried eating once as it's not my typical choice of food. Yet, as I was curious too, I went to visit the store just today along with my mother in law and niece.
The ambience.
The area had a good location as it was along the road near the market. As you can see the signage says love tea. That's the main course here but as I mentioned since it was in trend business people won't let the chance to earn slip.
The area was only a few meters wide, enough for a four seater table and a bar type one. I think there are only five tables inside. However, it was decorated and well painted so it looks good at afterall.
There is even a couch where you can take some photos with a sunflower background.
Frames with some motivational quotes.
Succulents line up at the bar type table to give a lively and homey vibe.
An area where you can sit if you are alone.
The counter, I noticed, thought it was just a small food business trying their best for the convenience of the customers.
Well, you have a choice to pay online!
The Food
There are a lot on the menu but I ordered what's on my mind, Pares good for three. Per serving cost $2 and it goes with unlimited soup, rice and soft drinks.
While waiting for our food to be serve my niece was like, Tita, can you order me this burger with fries?*
I was like, huh? But we will be eating rice already, can you eat it all?
She was like, Nope, for take away, that would be for the later at home.
So see @tengolotodo ? I am not the only one who loves food! Even @asiaymalay daughter! It's run in our blood 😆.
Finally, food was served. It only comes with a bowl of and it's up to you to add flavors based on your preferences.
Chopped spring onions, fries garlic, Philippine limes and Patis.
The free soft drinks! It's been a while since the last time I had a bottle of. Most of the time I would order Royal or coke.
After adding condiments I started eating and seeing the sliced pork and chicharon bulaklak (lower cracklings, it's an internal part of pork also known as ruffle fat) gives me goosebumps) 🤣.
Nope, I had a normal cholesterol level but thinking how unhealthy I am eating? 🤣 .
My Review
After eating some might ask, was it worth the money? If you are someone who eats a lot of rice then YES! Yet if you are like me who could eat only a cup of rice for several reasons then it's not. The serving was too little, only a few slices of pork but I could guarantee the soup would taste good.
And yeah, here is the take away burger we bought at home. Not sure if it was delicious but the aroma says so.

It looks like you enjoyed the pares @lhes. The interior seems clean. Even I would love to try their foods to answer my curiosity about that trend.
Oh yeah, tried pares twice, I won't say I like it much but not bad either.
Considering, life saver talaga eto for normal manggagawang Pilipino

I already had pares once palang din, and nakakaiyak coz puro sabaw lang that time kakaunti talaga ang laman, puro taba pa, lol. And diko mejo bet coz parang super tamis, or baka depende lang sa luto. Diyan ba super tamis? I want to try Pares na ganito sana or yong ganon lay Diwata na ang daming lahok hahaha. Kaso meron man dito, pero di ganon ka generous, well, understandable lalo na ang mahal ang pork, and di rin naman sure na maraming bibili if mumurahan nila, aguyyy ah.
Pares is not matamis, saka lasa depends Yan sa paglagay ng condiments.
Pero parang sabaw nga lng siya
Wow! I so love Pares as well Marz but I am kinda choosy since I want a safe and clean atmosphere. You know Pares is designed to be in Kanto but it seems that many cafes are having this kind of treat. Heheh
Hmmm, Now I know what "Pares" is and where it originated. Though I usually do the cooking at home. When we go out, we tend to buy more to go with. Mas maganda nga naman pag meron syang pangalan ano, Now I know what to do to attract my grandkids with Lolay's pares meals!
