Reminiscing Philippine history, fighting for freedom from colonization.

I found these photos while scanning my laptop and deleting files related to my previous work. This was a brief narration of Philippine history, artistically, at Ayala Museum. Let me share a few of the;

Imagine if we still have this fashion today?

I don't have an issue with how this generation dresses, but the Tita feeling kicked in, and I wanted to scold them 😆. I thought this might have been okay before, as the Philippines is not yet polluted. We had that fresh air, unlike now that in summer. Staying under the sun feels toasted like a barbeque.

This kind of party clothes is only seen on occasions with a retro theme. A quick glance reveals who belongs to the elite society.

Capiz windows, spacious living rooms, shining wood floors, and the old architecture of houses made me reminisce about the past and how tiring it was to clean such places. However, you can still go back in time when you visit certain provinces like Ilocos, Taal Batangas, and some areas in Intramuros.

KKK, Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, a secret revolutionary movement founded by one of the heroes, Andres Bonifacio.

A scene when he urges fellow Filipinos to tear up their Cedula. If you ask me, he is one of the bravest of his time.

Yet, I was surprised that he only stands 5'4 😃.

Here comes Emilio Aguinaldo. The first president of the Philippines. Considered a hero for leading the forces of the revolution against the Spaniards.

But, it broke my heart when I discovered years ago that he betrayed Bonifacio. It was a long story due to rivalry in leadership. What is more, his remains were lost or destroyed during the Manila war. It was not found till this day.

Knowing what's happening now in my country, was it also considered betrayal? Politics is a complicated topic and not my type to discuss. However, as a Filipino, I couldn't help but feel sad; it was heartbreaking.

The arrest of our former president was surprising; social media was flooded with news, comments, and even exchanging of opinions from different parties. Should there be people power again?. Where will this be led? Is this for the betterment of our country?

Even before America was in the picture, you see Aguinaldo boarding an American vessel to return to the Philippines from Singapore. The squad was under George Dewey.

Finally, the newest President and Vice of the Commonwealth are taking an oath.

From Spain, America, and Japan. Countries that colonized mine. During the last three and half years of sufferings many lives was lost and family was destroyed, womens that are abused.

It took years of fighting for independence, and many heroes had fallen. They dedicated their lives to the country so the next generation would fully gain freedom, which I won't be restrained from in the next few days.
