Learning the Philippines History through Arts.

I wonder if I only got bored listening to History Class when I was still a student. What's more, if the schedule is between three in the afternoon. I often sat in the last row so my teacher wouldn't notice me. Then, I was just there physically, but my mind was wandering. Either, I am reading romance books hidden in between the textbook. Unfortunately, I was called for a recitation one time and I answered a character from the book I am reading!🤣. The teacher reprimanded me and transferred me to the first row. That was until the end of the school year.

Now, if anyone had noticed, I shared several blogs that show a lot of Philippine History. Places, things that were connected in the past. Tonight, while scrolling through photos on my laptop, deleting unnecessary posts already in the blockchain, I came up with some pictures I took from the Ayala Museum. Yes, that one I visited with friends over the weekend months ago.

This shows the life before Filipinos. Fossils were found during the early 1900s at Tabon Cave Palawan. Those times were when everyone lived through the abundance of mother nature. Safe from the cruel world.

Pottery that serves as evidence that even before arts exist. Might still live in the caves but create valuable things in daily life.

They eventually went out from the caves, explored, and started building houses or what we called Bahay- Kubo. Planting and taking care of some domestic animals, they began to engage. Thus, they still wear the traditional clothes.

One of the Philippine wanders, Bananue Rice terraces, was built manually. Everyone helps exert efforts that eventually pay off.

Trading of goods, whatever products they had in the community, to others, had started. Some say Borneo (Malaysia) was the first to invade our country. There was a recent post I had read that one of the brave Lapu-Lapu.

Yet, it was taught at school by Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer. His ship docked at the Guiuan, Eastern Samar seashore on March 17, 1521, along with his crew and a priest, Father Pedro Valderrama. This started with Filipinos slowly learning about the Catholic religion.

However, the war between Magellan and Lapu-Lapu sparked due to some issues. They might had advanced weapons, but the Spaniards soldier led by the explorer was defeated. Why? It was their territory, and they were familiar with local topography. It was a significant advantage.

I failed to take photos in some as the next one was entry #20, which was the start of injustice by the Spanish government.

IMG_20230716_120200.jpg

This resulted in rebellions, and Katipunero's were born.

Thus, before the war, there came the galleon trade. Lots of goods from Asia, like silk, jewelry, spices, silvers, and other products from America and Europe.

You braced yourself as the next was about wars. Spanish reclaimed Manila!

Remember Intramuros?

IMG_20230716_120405.jpg

I just remembered all about this, and I need notes. Yet I assume it might be the Intramuros. The only I am sure of is that it is in Manila.

Carratelas, how I would love to try. The horses here look strong, by the way.

Clearly, it was too far from democracy. There is still a lot that has happened; many sacrifice their lives and lose loved ones and family.

I may be sharing next time, but let's call the night here. I am still tired from work. This is one that I hate: filing a week-long leave at work. On the remaining days before, you are in a rush, making sure everything was done to ensure you will be in peace!

Last Monday, my boss emailed me to prepare all the 2022 BIR-related records for our annual audit 😫. I wanted to reply, why now? Why our external auditor didn't inform us about it last month? However I just replied , Note Ma'am. What else can I say? lol.

Bet ko talaga yung pottery era ng Philippine history kasi dun talaga nakikita yung creativity ng mga ninuno natin. Ang galing lang kasi yung iba napreserved for the future generation.

Last ko ata sumakay neto elementary wahah, pero ang saya kasi presko. :D

Aaaahhhh I also don’t like history class that much when I was in school but now, I don’t know why I like reading and learning more about them.
I’m amazed you remembered the name of the priest. -1 na ako sa exam LOL

Haha, maybe it has something to do with our age and the way of teaching?
Who would get interested by only listening 🥹.

Hahahaha maybe! Our attention span is so limited in listening. There should be more ways to make us learn in a fun way, that we can remember.

History is fascinating and learning about where you live and where you are from is important I think.

Through history we should be making sure we don't make the same mistakes. Yet we still have wars 24/7. Humans are intent on destroying themselves and the planet we rent.

I agree! I do love visiting historical places now as it connects me to the past.

Wars! When will it end?
