Amigos queridos de Hive, es un placer poder volver a escribir después de muchos meses ausentes; he tenido unas semanas muy interesantes y quiero irme poniendo al día con todo.
Hoy quiero contar la historia de un un hermoso y saludable "Catire", uno de nuestros gaticos rescatados en 2015, que a pesar que no podemos tenerla dentro de nuestro hogar, goza de nuestra protección y cuidado.

Dear friends of Hive, it's a pleasure to be able to write again after many months of silence; I've had a very interesting few weeks and I want to catch up with everything.
Today I want to tell the story of a beautiful and healthy "Catire", one of our kittens rescued in 2015, that even though we can't have her in our home, she enjoys our protection and care.
Hace unos meses, Catire se perdió por mas de una semana, nos extrañaba mucho esa actitud, pues el es muy territorial, cuida de nuestro jardín y estacionamiento de toda clase de animalitos que pueden llegar; cada mañana lo llamábamos sin respuesta y en la tarde, igualmente preguntábamos a todos nuestros vecinos si lo habían visto... hasta que un día Catire apareció pidiendo auxilio.
A few months ago, Catire got lost for more than a week, we missed him a lot, because he is very territorial, he takes care of our garden and parking of all kind of animals that can arrive; every morning we called him without answer and in the afternoon, we also asked to all our neighbours if they had seen him... until one day Catire appeared asking for help.

No sabemos cómo pero Catire tuvo la fuerza necesaria para entrar a nuestro patio: tuvo que saltar dos paredes para poder entrar; mi esposo le escucho llorar de manera débil y cuando lo vimos nos sorprendió muchísimo: de su boca se veían pequeños gusanos, el olor fétido que salía de él no nos dejaba respirar, sin embargo, como pudimos, esa noche le brindamos los primeros auxilios; al día siguiente fuimos al veterinario: su diagnóstico era muy desfavorable.
Catire presentaba el paladar necrótico y desprendido, tuvieron que cortarle mucha piel del cielo de la boca, parte de su nariz también tuvo que ser cortada, debido al estado de descomposición que tenía.
Help!
We don't know how but Catire had the necessary strength to enter our yard: he had to jump over two walls to get in; my husband heard him crying weakly and when we saw him we were very surprised: from his mouth we could see small worms, the foul smell coming from him didn't let us breathe, however, as we could, that night we gave him first aid; the next day we went to the vet: his diagnosis was very unfavourable.
Catire's palate was necrotic and detached, a lot of skin had to be cut from the roof of his mouth, part of his nose also had to be cut off, due to the state of decomposition he was in.
Tuvimos que acondicionarle un sitio, alejado de mis otras mascotas, para evitar la contaminación; pobre Catire dormía sentado porque no podía acostarse ya que corría el riesgo de asfixiarse.
We had to set up a place for him, away from my other pets, to avoid contamination; poor Catire slept sitting up because he couldn't lie down as he risked being asphyxiated.
Tratamiento Médico
Su estado de salud era muy crítico, había perdido mucho peso y no sabíamos como alimentarlo; por el estado de su boca no podía respirar no tomar alimentos, mucho menos agua; era una situación realmente desesperante. La Veterinaria, una doctora muy cariñosa y delicada nos indicó el tratamiento a seguir, realmente era muy sencillo:
- Suero fisiológico de cloruro de potasio al 0.9% con vitamina B12 y acido fólico(200cc/día),
- Protector gástrico (ranitidina) 0,5cc (antes del antibiótico),
- Amoxicilina de uso veterinario 0,5 cc cada 24 horas,
- Lavado bucal en dos tiempos: primero con esencia de anís (te de anís sin alcohol), para erradicar las larvas y gusanos, por último enjuague bucal medicado muy diluido
- Limpieza veterinaria cada 48 horas.
- Amor y cariño de toda la familia.
Medical treatment
His state of health was very critical, he had lost a lot of weight and we didn't know how to feed him; because of the state of his mouth he couldn't breathe, he couldn't take food, much less water; it was a really desperate situation. The Veterinarian, a very caring and delicate doctor, told us the treatment to follow, it was really very simple:
- Physiological saline solution of potassium chloride 0.9% with vitamin B12 and folic acid (200cc/day),
- Gastric protector (ranitidine) 0.5cc (before the antibiotic),
- Veterinary Amoxicillin 0.5 cc every 24 hours,
- Mouthwash in two stages: first with aniseed essence (aniseed tea without alcohol), to eradicate larvae and worms, and finally a very diluted medicated mouthwash.
- Veterinary cleaning every 48 hours.

Los días fueron pasando y la herida sanaba de una manera fluida: a pesar que había perdido algunas piezas dentales, el tono rosa fue volviendo poco a poco a su piel, los gusanos por fin habían salido, respiraba mucho mejor y ya era capaz de tomar pequeños sorbos de agua a voluntad.
Un día llegando del veterinario, pude aprovechar de bañarlo, ya que se encontraba sedado: agua tibia y jabón lograron quitarle el olor que siempre le quedaba, cuando estaba ya seco, pudo reposar en mi regazo como nunca lo había hecho, pues es un gato muy arisco.
Healing
The days went by and the wound was healing smoothly: although he had lost some teeth, the pink colour was gradually returning to his skin, the worms had finally come out, he was breathing much better and was already able to take small sips of water at will.
One day when I came home from the vet, I was able to bathe him, as he was sedated: warm water and soap managed to remove the smell that always remained, when he was dry, he was able to rest on my lap as he had never done before, as he is a very surly cat.
Volviendo a vivir
Era muy impresionante ver el enorme hueco en su cara, yo le decía a la doctora si no necesitaba de puntos para que todo se cerrara, a lo que siempre me respondía que la naturaleza es muy sabia y que ella haría el trabajo restante; si bien, Catire no sería el mismo debido a sus lesiones internas, sanaría y volvería a la vida.
Getting back to life
It was very impressive to see the huge hole in his face, I would ask the doctor if he didn't need stitches for everything to close, to which she would always reply that nature is very wise and that she would do the rest of the work; although Catire would not be the same due to his internal injuries, he would heal and come back to life.

Así se ve Catire hoy, ciertamente ha cambiado mucho, respira con cierta dificultad, pero sus fosas nasales siguen sanando, tristemente ya no se escucha su ronronear, pero se siente cuando le abrazamos, está mucho más cariñoso con nosotros y sigue siendo el guardián de mi jardín, no se imaginan lo que siento cada vez que lo veo sano y fuera de peligro; aún no sabemos que fue lo que pasó, ni con qué otro animalito peleó o si algún humano le hizo daño (ya ha sucedido anteriormente), lo cierto es que sigue con nosotros, brindado sus cuidados gatunos.

This is how Catire looks today, he has certainly changed a lot, he breathes with some difficulty, but his nostrils are still healing, sadly you can't hear his purring anymore, but you can feel it when we hug him, he is much more affectionate with us and he is still the guardian of my garden, you can't imagine what I feel every time I see him healthy and out of danger; we still don't know what happened, or what other animal he fought with or if a human hurt him (it has happened before), the truth is that he is still with us, providing his cat-like care.

Es una real bendición que Catire allá podido llegar a casa. Ni que decir de la atención de su familia. Debió ser unos difíciles, pero gracias a Dios con la diligencia del veterinario y todos ustedes pudieron sacarlo de ese momento traumático.
