One issue with DePIN projects (especially on Solana) is that the team may have the ability to freeze your tokens (look for Freeze Authority on a block explorer), which goes counter to crypto ethos.
That's one reason I prefer DePINs with their own app-specific blockchain (like Akash, Jackal and Sentinel) as they are more censorship-resistant.
They also don't have to compete for resources with other dapps on the same blockchain, and instead use Inter-blockchain communication (IBC) to communicate cross-chain.
Akash is really interesting imho.
