I'VE NEVER BEEN FIRED, BUT... (WEEK 235)

Reviewing the weekend-engagement topics that the Weekend Experiences community proposes every weekend, I found this one interesting to share with you my personal opinion.
Imagine you were fired from your job today meaning you'd have no income from tomorrow onwards. Does it affect you emotionally and mentally, how do you handle it, what steps do you take and why?
Experiences like this are not frequent in my country, that explains how, in spite of their inefficiency, there are people who keep their jobs. The firing of a worker, at least in the state-owned company, has to be justified with very serious faults. A protectionist mentality towards the worker prevails, often to the detriment of the economic interests of the company. Thus, we have companies that continue to operate despite their losses or services that are not of the required quality.
The other side of the coin reveals the low value that many workers place on keeping their jobs. The cause of this behavior is given by the low salaries that do not cover their needs. This reality leads them to perform other, more profitable tasks in the informal sector, which we euphemistically call here “the search”.
What has been written above allows us to put the unknowing reader in context. But let's move on to answer the question of the chosen topic by sharing my personal experience. To begin with, I will tell you that I have never been fired from any of the jobs I have worked in. In my more than 35 years of work, I have changed workplace, but almost always by my own decision, in search of some kind of improvement. I write almost always, because on one occasion the change was due to the closing of the company. In this case, the provincial authority offered me a job, so everything ended with a transfer within the same sector in which I worked.
I think that a job layoff always has some kind of impact on the person who is laid off. At least for the time until they find a new job. Most people focus on solving the problem, and the layoff does not leave important consequences.
Since I started my working life, in addition to my main job, I have always been employed in some other job in parallel. Even before the law allowed multi-employment, I managed to do it. My profession has mainly been related to the development and implementation of computerized business management systems.
However, I have worked as a translator of scientific and technical texts, university teacher, accountant; always looking for alternative sources of income and self-improvement. Therefore, I think that, if I had ever been laid off, it would not have been difficult for me to find a new occupation.
I would like to share with you something that I have also held as a principle throughout my working life. I think many of you practice it as well. I am referring to having savings that allow you to face possible eventual contingencies without causing great damage to your family's finances. It's about having a little bit of foresight for the future.
In short, I've never been fired, but I don't think that a layoff would cause major disruptions in my emotional or mental behavior. Even now, when I am approaching retirement, and that could be against me, I think I would find attractive offers in the labor market. In the field in which I work, accumulated experience counts. Besides, I could always try other alternative ways to obtain the necessary income. Here is an example of what I am telling you. Five years ago I knew nothing about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and today I am sharing content on Hive, even though I still don't understand many things about this world.
You are adequately prepared so that if something like this were to happen, you would be able to cope with the challenges that the lack of a permanent job entails. Good job!😃
It's not always necessary to think about the negative side of losing our job. There are so many things that I would have liked to do that I didn't try because I had a stable way to make a living...
Thanks for your visit 🌷

I tried to make a post with your same approach, Cuba, but I couldn't...we are so atypical that maybe many could not understand us, but you couldn't have explained it better.
We are very resilient and hardworking that's why where we arrive we make our way. Hopefully one day our country will understand that we are worth much more than they understand.
Thank you for doing so well on behalf of all of "us".
Sorry for replying so late...I'm 😴😴😴😴.

Precisely because of how different our scenario may be with respect to other countries, I started the post by giving a general idea of it. For you, as for me, it is the everyday, but in other countries layoffs are a very common thing. That, which should be a strength, is something that is abused and brings bad consequences. If a worker does not fulfill his duties, it should be enough to replace him with someone more efficient. But then it happens that there is so little interest in the position that it is difficult to find a replacement. There is no choice but to continue plowing with the same oxen. I would not dare to qualify unemployment as a necessary evil, but in other societies it serves to achieve a sense of belonging, of which we crow about so much around here without many results.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. 🌺
Our society needs a good dose of all the things you are talking about....
But I am happy that you think so.
❤️❤️❤️
You do well being like that. And I also went on to tell you that if you don't understand Hive, ask me directly and I will explain it to you.
There are also many tutorials that you can ask for in the HiveCuba telegram group.
You've explained the situation pretty well around here, but I've realised that no one but us can really understand it. They would have to live it.
The work mentality in the world is different from ours. Here the trust is so excessive and sometimes even disgusting that there comes a time when it seems as if they are doing you a favour, when in reality they don't even guarantee you working conditions, let alone a salary with which you can guarantee the basics that a human being works for.
Greetings! And happy Tuesday... 😅
First of all, thank you very much for your willingness to help those of us who are taking our first steps in Hive. Your experience and expertise can be very useful to us.
Before starting in Hive, I attended the Hive desde Cero course, which was very useful to me, because learning in a group allows us to nourish from the collective experience. I am also in the Hive Cuba Telegram group since I started. I don't write much there, but I do read attentively about what is being discussed.
I have references to you through @adaluna1973, a mutual friend, who has told me how useful your advice has been for her to grow on this platform. Some of them she, in turn, has passed them on to me.
In Cuba, we workers are not afraid of being fired and being left in the street. We consider work as a guarantee that is never lost. That's not entirely negative, feeling the security of being able to earn a living is good. The bad thing is that, under the protection of that guarantee, some people allow themselves to keep a job even when they perform it without quality. In another country, that would lead to a sure fired.
Thank you, @nanixxx, for doing me the honor of the visit and leaving such a nice comment. 🌷
@leopard0 that's right...she is an excellent person and friend always willing to help.
Our first steps in Hive are designed to learn to grow...and the second steps too...😅
Great day @leopard0
It is good to be able to count on people willing to help. 😉
Great day to you too 🌻
