Espero disfruten tanto como yo la música popular de Venezuela, hoy es el turno para mostrarles el género Vals Venezolano con el tema: Adiós, a Ocumare, su autor es el Maestro Ángel María Landaeta, nos remonta a la época de los años 1900 en adelante, cuando se trasladaban de un sitio a otro en burro o en mulas, el contenido de la letra refiere cuando se marcha de Ocumare, Estado Miranda para ir hasta Petare, originalmente, "Adios, a Ocumare, me voy para Petare".

I hope you enjoy as much as I do the popular music of Venezuela, today is the turn to show you the Venezuelan Waltz genre with the theme: Adios, a Ocumare, its author is the Maestro Angel Maria Landaeta, it takes us back to the time of the 1900s onwards, when they moved from one place to another on donkey or mules, the content of the lyrics refers to when you leave Ocumare, Miranda State to go to Petare, originally, "Adios, a Ocumare, me voy pa'Petare".

Es interesante conocer el contenido de este vals y saber en qué se inspiró su compositor como es el caso de Adiós, a Ocumare, siendo un género de los más conocidos de la época del Presidente Cipriano Castro, popularmente sonaba en todos los Valles del Tuy en las distintas tertulias que realizaban, dicho por el Profesor Carlos Arcila.

Es un tema hecho en tiempo de Vals, 3 tiempos (¾), lo pueden notar en una partitura que les dejo como un aporte más. Aparte, para los amantes de esta música, si nos remontamos a la historia es apasionante, ya que permanece en el tiempo y espacio desde sus inicios a través de compositores europeos que trajeron su música romántica del siglo XIX y al llegar a Venezuela mediante un proceso de criollización, se dan distintas modificaciones para ser lo que es hoy día el Vals venezolano, se quedó definitivamente desde las mejores fiestas de la época, registrándose partituras para guitarra y arpa, en el tiempo se fue transformando y se introdujo en la élite de la sociedad del momento que al inicio costó su aceptación, sin embargo, terminaron aceptándolo quedando establecido en los bailes de salón.

Según el Maestro Luis Felipe Ramón y Rivera, gran investigador de nuestra música popular y tradicional en Venezuela, existe el vals de salón, donde el instrumento principal es el piano y por otra parte, el vals popular, donde se reafirma que el vals de tradición oral, es aquel que se ejecuta con instrumentos propios de cada región del país, por ejemplo: cuatro venezolano, guitarra, bandola, mandolina, guitarra, violín, arpa, entre otros.

Uno de los valses venezolanos más importantes en el país, es el creado por el Maestro Ángel María Landaeta, nació en 1872 en la Calle Agricultura de Petare, aprendió música de su papá por tradición oral, ejecutando varios instrumentos de cuerdas y el órgano. Se dice que ejecutaba música religiosa y popular con su padre y llegó a tocar violín, órgano, guitarra y algunos instrumentos de banda. De sus temas quedaron algunos de corte religioso y la mayoría de música popular, prácticamente desaparecidas, ya que no quedaron partituras, actualmente, se conserva el vals Adiós, a Ocumare, que conmemora el traslado del autor de Petare a Ocumare del Tuy en 1904.

Según Carlos Mendoza, quien hizo un trabajo de investigación y ejecución del tema: Adios, a Ocumare, en el enlace “el cuatro venezolano, micuatro.com”, donde podrán apreciar la voz de Rosa Virginia Chacín con la letra de Gregorio José Timotes, por otra parte, relata que este tema se ejecutó por primera vez con un arreglo de Jermán Ubaldo Lira, en un baile de salón donde asistió el Presidente del Estado Miranda, Benjamín Arriens.

Adios, a Ocumare, fue de gran éxito para la época del siglo XX, ya que el Presidente de la República Cipriano Castro para ese entonces era amante de la música, así que desde la primera vez que la escuchó en Ocumare del Tuy, fue su vals favorito, ordenaba a las bandas marciales que la ejecutaran, luego con el pasar del tiempo, se le atribuye la letra a Arturo Barrios de Santa Lucía, cuando la capital del estado Miranda se cambió por primera vez de Ocumare del Tuy para Petare, y posteriormente, se traslada de Petare para Los Teques, allí aparece otra letra y le cambian el nombre quedando establecida como “Adios a Ocumare”, se presume que Gregorio José Timotes, escribió otros versos, sin embargo, sigo investigando sobre otros antecedentes para escribir en un próximo post.
