Onboarding the Masses to Hive | The Thesis Driving Our New Threads-Centric UI

In this clip from the weekly AMA, we talk about our new UI. We've been developing toward this vision for nearly 2 years now. The idea is microblogging on the blockchain.

Recently, we've pivoted our vision. Instead of launching a separate app, we're aiming to build an "everything app". This app will encompass both microblogging and long-form content into one, cohesive experience.

The goal is to build what Elon Musk keeps touting twitter could be one day. Instead, we're building it all on the blockchain.

We already have:

  • Microblogging
  • Long-form content
  • Micropayments
  • Blockchain data storage (hive)
  • Verifable identities (Hive accounts)
  • ...

It's time to supercharge all of this, go back to the drawing board and build a UI that truly empowers this Web3 experience that we've created on the backend.

This is a whole new image for LEO. A whole new way to use LeoFinance and think of the brand.

Now that's really awesome!

That idea is basically a game changer. Threads at the forefront.... presenting Threads as the Twitter Killer 🔥 having all the features Elon Musk dreams of, but can't achieve.

The freedom of speech would also be a great asset for this Twitter Killer.

That sounds amazing that you guys are re-building from scratch. Hey .. you could even hire some ex-twitter employees now cuz heard they are "looking for jobs" ... =P

How would you tackle login issues .. for eg. I would use my Apple ID to signup for twitter ... would that automatically bind me to a Hive acct ? Wondering about how you go about that ..

Also ... I hope that the team designs it in such a way that "earnings" are not the primary reason for posting on the new UI as this type of growth are very temporary and unsustainable.

Really looking forward for you guys to launch it. Cheers !

How would you tackle login / signups ? I normally login to twitter using my apple ID .. would that be enabled ? and would that perhaps create/bing my HIVE ID ?

I applaud your team from designing from scratch the new UI. I do hope that it would "not" be centric towards how much you can "earn" however instead ... "You MUST use this to gain exposure" . Of course its easier said then done ... I'm sure your team is already on it. One of the UI i truly liked previously on Steem was Partiko. Too bad they are no longer around .. main reason ? Its FREAKING fast and it just works ( when it was working ) Thats just my 2 cents.

Yes, I would love to see the "Leo everything app".
As you said, it needs to be more user-friendly to onboard the new users.
And I also think that the backend needs to be improved as well. Currently, I still see the issue when loading the page, or when using the app on my phone (and I already deleted the app on my phone because I can not use it)

Amazing. I must say. Most times when listen to Musk, Dorsey and others talking about their vision for a new social media experience, I can't help but think that they're trying to replicate what we are already doing here on Hive.
