June User Growth Report | 1,126 MAUs, 76k Threads and 393 Content Creators!
The month of May was massive for the LeoVerse. During May, we had the culmination of our Zealy campaign into all of the various events and endgame for the sprint.
That led to record-setting numbers. We saw 1,289 MAUs at the peak and 211,600 Threads posted on the Hive blockchain!! That is absolutely incredible.
As with anything, when you have a peak liek that, there is a leveling off period afterwards. What we aimed for in June was retaining as much of that peak as we could.
Prior to May our ATH for Threads was 38k posted in one month. In June, we 2x'd that and achieved 76k. That's a pretty solid retention rate on the absolute monstrous peak we experienced in May.
In this report, we'll breakdown the high-level numbers on our userbase and talk about our plans for July to grow from June's numbers.
The following chart is the high-level data. Feel free to keep referring back to it as we explore each section of it below.
Monthly Active Users
MAUs in May hit a record high of 1,289. In the months prior, we averaged right around 1,000. In June we retained 126 new users for a final total of 1,126 MAUs.
A majority of those MAUs were threading (988 out of 1,126) but not all of them were. This highlights some growth on the long-form side of our Monthly Active Userbase.
Keep in mind that MAUs total both long-form and short-form users. So if you make a comment on a long-form post or publish a thread or publish a long-form post, you are considered a Monthly Active User.
We released a lot of long-form updates throughout mid-end of June so it is unsurprising that we've seen a jump in users on that side of the spectrum.
Monthly Active Threaders
MATs hit 988 in June. This is a solid number considering the previous months. As we said, we were coming off that massive peak of the May Zealy Sprint, so retaining as many threaders was our #1 goal.
Threads has seen quite a few usability upgrades in the ladder part of June. We've got a lot more on the way especially for the notifications page that we are hopeful will bring a lot more roundabout engagement to spur real conversations.
Total Threads
The total Thread count in June was 76.8k Threads. May had that record 211k from all the different Zealy quests that got users publishing ridiculous amounts of Threads.
We managed to retain a lot of that growth in June - considering that June's total Threads were 2x that of any previous month excluding May.
Content Creators
Here's where things start to get interesting. We released a lot of long-form updates to the UI to make long-form better.
These updates have carried through to July so I bet we're still just starting to see the impacts unfold. Prior to May, we barely had any Long-Form integrations on the UI.
Then we released the Publisher UI and other features. That brought in an influx of long-form article writers.
2 Days ago, we released the ability to publish into any Hive Community from the https://leofinance.io/publish UI.
This opens the LeoVerse up to the masses on Hive in a way that we never before were opened.
The priority now is The Everything App vision which includes onboarding as many diverse users as possible, providing them with features on Web3 that were never before possible and then driving up our Ad Revenue which leads to LEO Token Smart Contract buybacks.
Building this revolving ecosystem has been a daunting task, but if you've stuck around for it, you'll see that we've made incredible progress.
The UI is vastly different today than on May 1st (just 2 months ago).
It's crazy how much progress the LeoVerse makes in 2 months. Just wait until you see us 2 months from today.
I'm looking to see a lot of growth on the Content Creators numbers this month.
Commenters
Commenters last month were 259 and then 253 in June. This is actually quite good considering the Zealy sprint ending.
You might expect a bigger drop - simialr to the one seen in MATs or Total Threads. But I believe we onboarded a lot of new long-form users, so it offset the drop.
Thanks to the updates on Long-Form, I think we're continuing to see more Hivers using the UI for both microblogging and Articles.
As I said in the previous section - I'm looking to see a lot of growth on Content Creators this month. This coincides with a lot of growth in Long-Form commenters this month.
The ambition is that all of these developments for Long-Form will create the #1 experience on Hive for Articles.
Combined with our vision for "Reddit Replacement" Hive Communities - now live on https://leofinance.io/communities - we are aiming to see a huge spike in July from these last 2 categories.
Plans to Grow
I've spoken a lot about the development side of our plans to grow. While our team works on making the UI the best possible experience for both short and long-form content, we also are working on a lot of partnerships to bring in Communities to the LEO UI.
This is both for Hive Communities that are already on-chain and for off-chain communities outside of the Hive ecosystem.
Our ambition is to get a few partnerships locked down and then bring them into the new Communities feature.
- They get setup with their own Hive community
- They access it through https://leofinance.io/communities
- They can moderate and build their Web3 community both for Articles and Threads content
- We delegate a large amount of LEO POWER to their Community Mods
- Their Community Mods utilize that power to curate community Articles + Threads to encourage their users to join https://leofinance.io through their Community
- LeoInfra onboarding makes it super simple for them to sign up and sign into a Hive account using our Lite Account Protocol with Twitter / Google integrated
Imagine just 1 of these communities successfully onboarded. 1 small community could bring 100+ signups, thousands of threads and hundreds of Articles per month and add them to our MAUs, MATs, Total Threads, Content Creators Commenters numbers.
Combine all of this with getting existing Hive communities onboarded to our UI and we could see some exponential growth.
https://leofinance.io/communities aims to be the portal to onboarding the next wave of Hivers. I think we can do it, we just need to lock down some good partnerships while simultaneously ironing out the development side of Communities.
The next step on the development front for Communities is going to be adding Threads for each Community, some bug fixes and better Moderation UIs.
