Splinterlands Art Contest | River Nymph
Hello hive community, its almost the end of the year, I hope you're ending it with peace and good health because I feel like those are most important things.
It's another round of the splinterlands art contest and this is my submission, honestly I didn't think I could make it for this round because I've been a busy with peeosnal stuff plus electricity problems.
I chose to do a fanart of the river nymph, I've done this before but this time I decided to use the skin colour on the main character. River nymphs are shy beings that live in the rivers of splinterlands, they have a huge respect for life and very protective of their homes.
I always begin with a sketch that serves as a guide as I progress, I painted flat colours for her skin, hair and and clothes.
I moved on to paint her facial features, her eyes looked weird in the beginning because it wasn't well placed but I fixed that almost immediately before starting the rendering process. I added shadows and highlights to different areas of her skin, this is where the painting begin to look alive.
Next, I painted her jewellery, ornaments and more details to her gown. I struggled with her dress though, the colours didn't look good to me initially but I continued and just stopped overthinking it. I really enjoyed detailing her hair, adding colours and more strands before moving on to detail her jewellery. She looked good already.
Finally I added some shine in different areas, added more lash strands and made all the necessary adjustments. I didn't bother with a complex background because it looked great to me. I hope you like it 💙
