Splinterlands Art Contest | Igor Darkspear
A little lore about this card;
Igor Darkspear is the leader of an aggressive tribe known as the Trench Dwellers who patrol the depths of the ocean around the island of Praetoria. The Trench Dwellers are highly territorial and will not hesitate to kill any who trespass in their waters.

Helo everyone, welcome to another blog. It's week 257 of the splinterlands art contest and this is my submission post. I was really confused on what to do for this week because I've had electricity problems for some days and that really slowed and stressed me out. But its all good, I eventually chose this card mostly because of his hair cut, colours and how simple the character looks, I remember doing a full version of this card months ago so here's another version....
After doing the sketch which is always the first step that serves as a guide throughout the whole work, I painted base colour for her skin. Initially, I painted blue for her skin but it didn't look too good so I erased it all and started all over again. This time I picked out all the colours I needed on a separate layer before starting the painting process.
I repainted the base colour for her skin again and also her hair, clothes and ornaments. I added a new layer below and painted the fin then went ahead with her brows, eyes, lashes, lips, nose and pointy ears. It looked really good but bland at this point...
Moving on to rendering, I started with her skin, adding highlights and shadows where necessary, I painted more details and colours on her clothes, jewelry and fins, at this point she slowly started coming to life. Went on to add lighter details and strands to her hair, I think her hair is my favourite part of this painting. Since the original character has a blue skin, I painted blue to certain parts of her skin and really loved it. I didn't really know the right position to place her sword, I played around with different areas and I found that placing it behind and a bit slanted looked better. I then added some glow to her face, hands, hair, clothes and painted a very simple background.
That's all, I hope you like this one...
