Course: The dream became a reality
When I was younger, I was one of the few who had a clear idea of what I wanted to be when I grew up. This inspired and dictated the actions; in a way, it all ended well. I have always wanted to be a Banker, and when I was told I would be in the science class during my Senior secondary school year, I rejected the offer and remained hell-bent on being in the commercial class as against the science class.
So when it was time for me to write Jamb, I knew perfectly well the course I would select. I chose Banking and Finance and Business administration, as selecting at least two courses of study was mandatory. As fate would have it, I got admission to study Banking and finance at my first choice university, Kwara State University.
As I said, I studied banking and finance at University because I wanted to be a Banker. I believed the course I chose would give me an insight into what to expect when I started working in a Bank (so I thought). I got some insights about how banks work, but I discovered that Banks are the thinnest subject discussed in this course.
The course was broader than the name it was given. I was expecting to be taught how to handle finances in the bank, but to my shock, The finance part encompasses everything one could think of. Finance spreads from the local economy and globally. It is discussed worldwide in economics, accounting, businesses, agriculture, and other industries.
One key takeaway from the Banking and Finance course is that it makes one more financially responsible. For me, The course helped me have an insight into my banking rights and impacted my finance. On a broader scale, The course helps the government, individuals, companies, employers, employees, and every other profession makes informed decision when handling finances.
Kindly note that finances go beyond the physical money but spread to your company's goodwill, assets, and capital. Even liabilities are accounted for, and this course will give one an insight into how to make the best decision surrounding them.
That was my mentality then and to even believe the fact that all bankers are always rich and when one goes for the course, they would surely work in a bank but just as you have said, I love the usefulness of the course to everyone in the society. At least one who wants the best would try to be accounted for every of their finances and know how to manage them.
Exactly. Thanks for stopping by princess
