More Chickens

I have 4 chickens. Now they are 4 months old. They are going to be mature so that in the next 1 or 2 months , they will lay eggs everyday. Now, I breed more chickens. I bought 5 docs but 3 of them died.

There are two chickens left. They are 1 month old. Those little chickens are healthy. One of them is a male chicken. The color is white. I plan to raise the male chicken until adult. I hope it will be a strong rooster or cock.

Now, I have 6 chickens. I still want to buy local chickens. I want to cross breed between Leghorn and Isa-brown with local chickens.

The problem is the rats often eat docs. I do not have a save box to protect the docs from the rats.

I like chickens very much. When I was a kid, I bred chickens too. All were local chickens. Local chickens are slow to grow. They need more than 6 to 8 months.

Leghorn or Isa-brown are factory made docs. They are proved to be commercial chickens. On the other hand, local chickens are not productive enough to be commercialized. People often consume local chickens to celebrate big days like new year celebration or Iedul Fitri.

Breeding chickens has risks. When the chickens die , it will reduce the profit when I commercialize the breeding. If it is a hobby, I have no much problem. I just buy new docs to be raised up. Do you like breeding chickens?
