Digital Drawing #13 Watina
Hi!! I am back again. This is kinda late but I'll still continue. So last May Artpark did a whole month drawing challenge in which you make your own OC (Original Character) mermaid and draw it for a whole month with concepts. I'm on my 3rd prompt which is in week 2 the only week I finished, the rest got abandoned. Art block hit me hard last month can't draw decent. But luckily I can still draw and I notice I improved a little bit? LOL, That's weird...
The challenge that day is to draw for mothers day and I was in rush that day and can't think of any concept so I just did a mother and daughter bonding I created a mini Watina as her daughter. And it turns out cute I like it. I focus on the details of their faces.
I did my best to sketch as close as my OC because I have the tendency to forget the character I made. LOL. I did a good job on the baby's face she looks so cute.
When I am rendering, I tend to focus on one thing first before jumping to another thing to render. For example, here I first focus on the skin first, then on the eyes and another part of the face. But I always come back to polish something I miss, like the skin needs more shadow in this part or I need to saturate this part of the face so it will pop out more. I know some of you did the same thing too.
For the hair, I always render the hair last. Because they are under the water, hair under water tends to flow everywhere. I love how the hair turns out. I like how the baby smiles those cute little teeth and I added a little blush to them because when you go out of the sun you tend to get sunburn. LOL
For the background, I just drew it simple just coral reefs at the back and some cute little fishes, and of course the tails of the mother and daughter.
To make it cuter and funny I added seaweed and starfish to their heads the funny thing about is that I almost forgot to add those I was like " I think I forgot to add something " and then I remember it the next day. So rush it for the sake of cuteness LOL. And I love it :)
For the final touch up my favorite part adding highlights and the light reflecting on the water.
