Never enough HIVE Power

One of the stand-out features of the HIVE blockchain is HIVE Power delegation. The unique nature of HIVE remains as something of an oddity in crypto. It's very different to everything else out there, and has so much potential, but remains a niche project.

Anyway, HP is such a powerful tool, and the ability to delegate it creates a whole little eco-system of use cases. Projects offering their own tokens in return for HP delegations has become a fairly standard method, with @leo.voter being the prime example. But there are many twists, with interesting tokenomics thrown in to tweak the model and put a unique spin on it.

LBI has around 25K HP delegated out, but I'd love more. Holding HIVE as HP, and delegating out to other projects fits our investment method perfectly.

Currently, LBI has the following HP delegations:

  1. 15000 to @leo.voter
  2. 2500 to @empo.voter
  3. 2500 to @brofi
  4. 5000 from @lbi-eds to @eds-vote

Lets take a look at each - the Brofi one is brand new.

@leo.voter

This has been in place for LBI from way before I took over, and is a core component of LBI. I did recently drop it back a little, in order to have a little HP to add to other things. No intentions to change this again any time soon, but the small drop reflects the shift for LBI from being all about LEO, to more of a 'LEO plus other HIVE stuff" approach.

Our APR here is at 16% as we receive our LEO rewards staked and have Premium membership. This LEO accumulates, and our LEO Power is used to curate (by trailing @taskmaster4450le, plus some small votes on comments and interactions on our posts). When you add in that HP automatically grows at a bit over 3%, through inflation, the we are getting up close to 20% returns. Pretty good.

@empo.voter

A recent addition, this currently yields 12% paid out in the form of PWR tokens. This yield will soon drop to 8%, which brings it in line with what we would get from curating (roughly). I have posted previously about the plans for this position, so won't go into too much detail. I did recently bump this up from 2K to2.5K. @brofi

Brand new position for our fund, we have just made a 2500 delegation to the long running and highly successful BRO. To kick start our BRO adventure, @trumpman made me an offer I could not refuse. He has made a loan to us of 20 BRO tokens, which we will repay to him down the track a bit once we have accumulated some of our own. Holding BRO gives some income, which will add to our income wallet gradually. The price of BRO is nice and strong, and I am going to set them in our balance sheet with a value of 7.5 HIVE. This is pretty conservative, they trade between 7.6 and 8.2 on the market it seems currently.

I'm not real sure on APR at this point, I'll keep an eye out and watch how it goes over time. @spinvest has held a BRO position forever, and slowly adding one to LBI via the delegation makes sense to me. The other benefit to holding BRO is maybe some curation on our posts from Brofi, which will add a little to our post payouts.

Thank you to @trumpman for the nudge to get this happening, and the loan of 20 BRO to kick start us.

@eds-vote

We took this position in the very early days of the re-launch of LBI. Funding the @lbi-eds wallet with 10K, half was converted to HBD and bought EDSD. The other half was powered up and delegated to @eds-vote. This is our smallest yield on HP, with Eds-vote paying out half of its curation as EDS tokens. But EDS never trades at its notional 1 HIVE vale, it is always way above that on the market. So that fact improves the effective return.

All the details of this delegation, and our EDS plans are in this post, so I won't repeat myself:
https://inleo.io/@lbi-token/lbis-eds-wallet-and-plans-ee9

So far, this delegation has minted us 14 EDS. This is a forever asset on our balance sheet, and has started to bring in some funds for the income account. It is small, but will grow every week.

I'd love more, with bigger amounts for BRO and PWR. But it is what it is for now, and the best we can do is nudge these up a bit at a time.

There are lots of other options around HIVE that could be good candidates for HP delegations. We are not in a position right now to do anything, but if you have suggestions I'd love to here them. I like delegations to build assets, with income as a long term goal. Short term, delegate for upvotes type plans don't really appeal as much.

Let me know what else is out there, and what your personal favorites are.

Cheers,

JK.

Have you looked at Liotes? I think it follows a similar structure to EDS, but on a smaller scale. I'm not even sure if it is still an active project. I hold some of the tokens though.
