Importance of communication in the mining industry
Greetings colleagues from The City of Neoxian, on this occasion I would like to share the experiences in the area of underground extractive mining where the mineral deposits do not come to the surface but deep excavations must be carried out after the exploration work.
One of the most important and crucial issues is when we talk about radio communications in mining, because it distinguishes the positions of the Miner, both on the surface and below ground and refers to all the necessary infrastructure so that communication between people and the various devices used in the operation is independent of distance or environmental conditions (often extreme conditions).
The Wi-Fi network can work in open pit mining, although sometimes the connection may be limited due to the distance from the repeater antennas or telecommunications systems, so for us it is more feasible to use other systems such as Terrestrial Linked Radio, which complies with standard industrial safety regulations and creates the feeling of being protected or watched by the team of the Central Communications of the mine.
My experience is that in my years of working in open pit and underground mining I have never had the need to use those radio systems for emergencies, only voice and data transmission to keep office staff informed about the activities that take place. we do inside the mine.
Mining is an already dangerous work. The absence of communication between each worker will make things even tougher. That constant feedback needs to be there between those on the surface and inside the work-space (underground maybe).
