Memorias de un geólogo: Cangilones del Río Máximo (ERROR NO VOTE)

El Río Máximo es uno de los sistemas fluviales principales de Camagüey. Mide 66 km de largo, y su cuenca abarca 547 km². Sus nacientes se encuentran en la Sierra de Cubitas y desemboca en la costa norte de Camagüey. Sobre la cuenca del río Máximo se han construido tres embalses: Máximo, Hidráulica Cubana y Montecito, para ayudar a utilizar de manera más eficiente el agua y proveer a los pobladores de la zona. En la zona de su desembocadura en el mar Caribe se encuentra el Humedal del río Máximo, que es un extenso ecosistema pantanoso. La zona de los cangilones se presenta un área de unos 350 metros donde el río corta calizas en su cauce y ha formado estos surcos, y pozas que pueden ser de considerable profundidad.

En aquel entonces, el campismo ofertaba una variada parrilla de ofertas gastronómicas y de números culturales. En periodo vacacional se solía llenar de personas que venían a pasar un buen rato en familia.

En mi visita a los cangilones escuché varias historias acerca del avistamiento de cocodrilos, que se escapaban del criadero del Río Máximo. Lo cierto es que ese criadero está algo lejano y no logré encontrar fuentes confiables acerca de ataques o avistamientos de cocodrilos en la zona. Probablemente, se traten de historias sin fundamento real. Lo cierto es que el lugar tiene excelentes valores paisajísticos y permite pasar un buen rato con familiares y amigos.

The truth is that this farm is somewhat far away and I was not able to find reliable sources about attacks or sightings of crocodiles in the area. These are probably stories with no real basis.
The truth is that the place has excellent landscape values and allows you to have a good time with family and friends.
